Never again will I deal wh this company. My son found a car on there website that he liked. He went thru the proper channels he paid for the car to get delivered in Lafayette, La he got approved through his credit union etc etc. Now keep in mind my son is black 22, have dreads an tattoos. The car gets delivered here in Lafayette. He gets his text messages an update on the car going thru inspection. He goes to the bank gets the check, he waits for his dad to get off work to go get the car. They go to Carmax to get the car. HERE'S WHERE PROBLEM STARTS. Joni the salesperson tells him he can't leave with car because she needs to verify the check. Now keep in mind the bank had talk to the finance company. How else did the bank get the final purchase price for the car to issue a check they had to spoken with carmax finance.The bank was close by that time. My husband an Joni went back an forth of course an argument broke out. Nevertheless to say my son did not leave with the car that day an this was on a Friday. Fast forward to Monday they call to verify with the bank of course everything was legit. I called the bank myself to explain the situation from Friday the loan officer said she never heard of a thing. I said it was discrimination because of his race an age She responded back by saying I was thinking that but didn't won't to say it, and she's Caucasian. 4 days after purchasing my car it started raining and I noticed it was raining in the car soaking into the headliner. I also noticed the ac would not cool off. Brought the car back to the dealership and reported the issues. They gave me a loaner and 3 1/2 weeks later said the car was fixed. Ran the car through a car wash and it was leaking in the car! Also they told me because the car wasn't new I couldn't expect that the ac would blow like a let's say 2020 model. The ac doesn't blow cold air at all! Going back tomorrow to put the car back in the shop. How dare someone talk to me like I'm a child? Telling me I can't expect the ac to blow? It will blow cold air if it's fixed properly! read more

I placed a hold and transfer request on a vehicle that was at a CarMax store two hours away from where I live, to another store closer to me. Not only did they set the arrival date five days from the day I requested the transfer, they made me wait longer as they drove the car past the store where I asked to view it into a town two states away. Had I known this is how they "sell a car", I would have driven a few hours to get it. They more dreams than cars. read more

BEWARE of CarMax in Lafayette Louisiana!!!! We were looking at a car that did not have equipment listed on the window. When it was pointed out, they refused to adjust the price. We found, on THEIR web site, in a different state, the same vehicle for $5000.00 less. They still refused to make any adjustments. The most they were willing to do was pay the $500.00 to have that vehicle shipped to Lafayette. THEN they offered 60% less than market value for our trade in. I'm not going to give them my car! At that point we walked out! I don't care what their adds say. How nice and new their store looks. They are still just used car salesmen that will cheat you out of your money. This review is solely based on the awesome team I dealt with at Lafayette. We could not finish the sale due to the title issues on my car, but Zee and Sue were awesome. Took their time to answer my questions so I understood the problem. They were cheerful with a helpful demeanor at all times, no negative vibes when I asked for more explanation. The vibe when I entered the building was positive. Granted you still need to have a clear understanding of car buying and selling, and credit practices. CarMax is out to make money, that's business. 2 minutes ago After sharing my One & First negative Personal experience regarding Lafayette CarMax, the "Manager" Steve reached out in his "Official" capacity via text Offering to "make this sell happen". I had already been approved financing with a co-signer, yet felt their demands of "award letters" pertaining to Government Retirement Pension & Social Security my co-signer has been receiving for an EXTENDED period, was an Overreach, undue burden & unnecessary. Particularly as I was the Primary loan applicant, we Both were Demanded to provide 3 months full detail bank account statements, evidenced with these Government deposits Direct into her account. Common sense professionals KNOW the government has Exacting stipulations before Any funds are paid. I was told My salary was Very Good, my response was HERS is More Secure & Gauranteed than my Own. After GREAT effort obtaining these Award Letters & transmitting to CarMax Lafayette, Steve the unprofessional "manager" nor Any other incompetent, inept, inconsistent unprofessional employee reached out the following day to Confirm receipt of Highly Sensitive & Personal documents, even though this "manager" personally conversed via text the previous day. The Appalling part is during my extended phone conversation with a Very Thorough gentleman in finance, Securing & Gauranteed financing prior to driving 3 hours, was ANYTHING regarding "Award letters" mentioned, & he WAS Very Thorough! My appointment was established for the following Monday 3pm, the Unprofessional, Argumentative Lafayette staff who Refused to identify himself, failed to contact me until LONG AFTER 12 pm, DEMANDING I transmit all documents we were Instructed to Bring.. This Displeased him to GREAT EXTENT!!! I ablidged & transmitted yet this inept anonymous person wasn't until 530 man enough to say "we're just now reviewing". This inept anonymous person became Argumentative when I stated as many loans, cars, financing etc., My co-signer has received, she's Never had to prove what's visibly deposited by "award letters". After my first public post regarding my personal experience, their attitudes became condescending, combative & Highly Unprofessional!!! The fact post-text from Steve the "manager" Nobody followed up to confirm receipt, in fact Steve has YET to reply or respond in Any form or fashion. By far the best place I have shopped at for a used car. When I arrived I was asked a few question. I informed the salesman I would like to look around on my on. If I found something I would get back with him. After looking at a few different vehicles, I found the one. I went back inside and talked with Manny. After 30 minutes of paper work I was out the door and heading home. This was back around June of last year. I just had the worst experience with CarMax. I applied online and was instantly approved. I was contacted by Stacy from CarMax and started uploading all of my documents. The next day she gave me call and was going over some information when their system deleted all of my info. Stacy had to re-enter and submit my application again, which resulted in a higher interest rate and another hard inquiry in my credit report. Later that day she called me again and said they were having another clerical issue and she needed to run my application again. Which resulted in another interest rate and another inquiry. I was suppose to be picking the car up the next day and expressed my lack of confidence in the process. So Becky called me around 8pm and said they needed to re-enter my info again. She said everything went thru and someone would call me in the morning to finalize everything for me to pick the car up. Then today I get a call from AJ saying that all my info got deleted in the system again and they would need me to re-submit all of my info. After talking to three different people for three days, and running my application three times I was no longer interested. Every time they would run my application they would come back with different interest rates. It went from no contingencies, to contingencies, and then back to no contingencies. This was such a horrible experience. They were trying to take advantage of me with the interest rate and I wasted taking a whole day off work. CarMax should remove all of the hard inquiries that they made because of their system issues. There's no reason why my credit score should have taken a hit like that. I'm going to have to pay for CarMax's mistakes. read more
