As I wet in I wasn't surprised, it is just not the kind of art I can truly appreciate and enjoy. However, I can understand why they might be very successful in more commercial arenas. Such as, taking up commissions to decorate the interiors of an office building, or art of government institutions, or banks, or any of the sort. I wouldn't personally pay £3,000 for a painting of the sea, which was what Rebecca Lardner proposed with her work 'Coastal Life'. Nevertheless, 'To the Limit' by James Blinkhorn touched on a more resonant matter; the sprawl of urbanisation, traffic, air pollution, some in black and one which were quite striking. The space it self is not big and you may get distracted from some black columns in the outside structure of the gallery, takes a bit away from the work. Even so, it never hurts to have a look at other people's art regardless of whether I personally like it or not, they must be doing something right if a gallery is willing to have their work for sale.

I arrived shortly before 10am (opening time) to be greeted with a long queue outside. Thankfully the line moved pretty quickly and I was soon inside. The staff did say that the exhibition is extremely popular on Saturdays so it is probably advisable to get there as close to opening time as possible. As the exhibition contains several mirrored rooms, which visitors can go in individually or in small groups, you do end up queueing again to get into each one, although the staff are very helpful and good at limiting the time to keeping things moving (you get 20 seconds in the pumpkin room and a minute in the others). The art itself is very cool, the mirrored rooms are excellent and each provides a very different experience (and some great photo opportunities!) The garden is really relaxing with a big pond containing another installation. If you do visit, make sure you go and have a look at the paintings and also the Rana Begum 'The Space Between' exhibition which is equally beautiful. I really enjoyed this gallery and exhibition and will definitely be keeping an eye on the listings for future exhibitions at Victoria Miro Gallery.

This is a tiny gallery on Redchurch Street with a rather mixed bag of a programme. I like the fact that it doesn't even look like an art space but more like a grubby garage. It's most fun on First Thursdays when the whole of Redchurch erupts into one big art party. This is a great commercial gallery on Old Burlington Street and is well worth a visit right now to…read moresee the show by the American artist Jennifer Rubell: "Engagement". We dropped by on Saturday afternoon and apart from the lovely staff we had the place to ourselves. This struck me as being quite strange given that we had passed hordes of people at the bottom of the street queuing to get into the Abercrombie and Fitch store; strange times we live in. There are two exhibition spaces in this modern building situated in the heart of Mayfair with an open plan office space in between. The gallery is home to a range of contemporary artists and there is usually something of interest on show. The Rubell show left me quite giddy and I would recommend that you try to drop by before it ends on 5 March. In the front room you have a life sized wax model of Prince William mounted off centre on a plinth. The idea is that you step on up, put your arm through his, and slip your finger into the engagement ring pinned onto his suit jacket. Just brilliant: lots of fun and a weird riff on the whole royalty, Prince Charming thing. In the back room it gets even better with the "drinking paintings" which took some inspiration from the official engagement picture of William and Kate (I think the size of the canvas matches that of the picture behind them in the photograph). Each raw canvas has a brass spigot protruding from it and to one side there is a plastic cup dispenser and the idea is that you pour yourself a drink. This action gradually "paints" the canvas with a series of splashes and drips. This Saturday I enjoyed a good sized nip of Sloe Gin, Irish Whiskey and a fine Rum. This is my kind of modern art and I will be popping back next week.

I have decided not to let my disappointed high expectations sway my vote and have decided to go with 3 stars instead of 2. There are two sections to the gallery one open to the public one across the street by appointment only. But you don't really need to go in because it is set up to be viewed from outside and is a unique window display. The gallery does display insightful and challenging work, and exhibits at Freeze Art Fair. I just didn't manage to go one a day that coincided with the reputation of the gallery.

Quite a large space, with three artists showing work in this particular exhibition, including sculptural installations, photography and film. I wasn't too keen on the sculptures - they looked like something you would see in an art college undergrad studio - but then again, maybe this guy was an undergrad art student - in which case, fair play for getting the gig, etc. Notably, Sheena Macrae's "Drink" video installation was quite cool - featuring all the excerpts from the "Dallas" TV series where the characters are drinking.

For those that have not been there before, studio spaces in the area are nearly imperceptible from the outside and are usually within buildings that you think have been left derelict for months until you open the door and notice a huge hive of creative activity. I was immediately reminded of that experience when I was told about Economy Projects the place that used to be called now and then. It's in a studio on Martello Street and surprisingly easy to miss. I did - several times and there's no sign, just a white battered door that I imagine could have been a wholesale storage space a few decades ago. If you see a big, battered white door with the number 10 by the wall you're in the right place. Especially if it's daubed with red graffiti. The margin for error is small, as I don't believe they have many neighbours. I went to see a really funny show by Sofia Buchardi in the summer. Reading the beginning of the press release on entering the space (it said Binary is the language of successive contradictions) I assumed I would be awash with pretentious guff, but her work was actually a very zeitgeisty bit of critique about how our information society is taking over our lives to a ridiculous extent. A truer word could not have been said. They also offer studio space if you're an artist looking to create work. With the price of rents going down you might be able to score yourself a deal. I'd advise popping down here during first Thursdays only: I have found their opening times to be intermittent and the last thing you want to be doing is hanging around. The contact numbers on their site don't work either! Typical! But on the plus side it's near London fields, so you can easily head down to the market if it turns out to be closed.
