Alright, so my experience of the menu is NOT EXTENSIVE, as all I tried was a Bean and Cheese burrito and it was alright. I'll go back as they didn't screw this one up. Some places can't even do the simple bean and cheese so an establishment has to get past this for me to even bother with other things. They did, so I will. read more

We very much enjoyed our visit here last night. Luz, the polite lady taking orders was very pleasant and helpful. The birria tacos we enjoyed were mouthwateringly delicious. The flavor of the meat was bold, and it was super tender and juicy. The onions provided bright, tangy pops of nuanced flavor, and the tortillas were spot on. Loved the Spanish rice and beans as well, They also have a market adjoining the dining area and we were able to purchase some of our other favorite consumables from Mexico. Most authentic Mexican food I've had the privilege to eat in Oregon yet, and we will no doubt be returning many times! read more

Best Mexican food the in world!!! I drive the 40 mile round trip every couple weeks to eat their pastor tacos,menudo,and burritos.Its not an overly decorated hacienda type restaurant it is just like a market in Mexico ,but with the best ingredients at their disposal,and the have the flavors down!! The menu is not huge they keep it simple and perfect what they offer,not to mention the family and friends that run it are awesome!!! This is THE BEST Mexican food you can get in Oregon and the prices are reasonably cheap. Growing up in San Diego I have been extremely spoiled with great authentic Mexican food. Since moving here for college I've been searching for a taste of home. THIS. IS. IT!! It tastes just like the Mexican food I've grow up eating, it's truly authentic and DEEEELICIOUS!! I always order the carne asada (grilled, seasoned beef) tacos. The tortillas are small (as they should be) so I recommend ordering a minimum of 2-3 tacos. The meat is perfectly seasoned and comes with onions, cilantro, salsa (it's a bit spicy, but hurts so good!), grilled onions, guacamole, and beans. I have never been a fan of onions or cilantro, but I eat them in these tacos. Not only is the food good but the staff is sooo friendly and welcoming. If you haven't been, you don't know what you're missing and I shed a tear for you. read more

This is my favorite stop to eat in the area. I'm a poor college student and this place keeps me coming back at least a couple times a week. The food is cheap, but delicious. Carnitas are very good . Grilled chicken on weekends is very good. They sell hot food and raw meat of all kinds . They have some grocery and produce items they are on the expensive side . Mexican dried peppers and spices . Mexican pastries too. Careful when getting hot food or meat by the pound because of you want 2 lbs . They might give you more and it adds up quick. The food is amazing! One day after moving here from San Diego, we were we having withdrawals for Mexican food. The Pastor burrito surpassed expectations. I expected beans rice and Al pastor meat, maybe some cheese. They added sour cream onions fresh chopped jalapeños and awesome sauce apparently. My wife's breakfast burrito was allegedly good too. Mi Casita's taco's are a special treat for me. I love squeezing the fresh lime wedges over the top just before biting in. I was in there last week and a guy ordered 7 burritos to take them to friends in a Portland suburb. There is no doubt why people would want to wait an hour for this delicious food. The burritos are very large - good size for a hearty appetite. The tacos are small, but reasonably priced. The service and cooks are friendly and seem to love what they are doing. Yes, it is inside a tiny market / convenience store. A diamond in the rough! If you like mexican food, you've got to stop by and grab something for home! read more

Recently moved here from SoCal last year and have been on the search for good tacos. After trying several places in Salem, Albany, and Corvallis, I found this place on google maps. These tacos are better than most of my favorite places back in California. Husband also confirms that the chicken torta is great and is now one of his favorites. This is our favorite taco place in Oregon so far. We have tried other taco places that are authentic but this place is hands down the best. You can't go wrong no matter what you order. My favorite is the carnitas tacos and burritos my husband loves the steak and carnitas tacos. They give you very generous portions. On the weekends they make home made shells. Independence probably has as good, if not better Mexican food than anywhere else in this state. Thank god for taquerias with not a single drop of vegetable oil on the premises, and where "vegetarian" dishes are cooked in lard just like everything else. Where I come from enjoying a sixer of Negra Modelo and a carne asada burrito with about two cups of pico de gallo on it while sitting on the beach is pretty much a universally accepted form of evening recreation, and tri tip cooked over oak with pinquitos is high art. The true test of a Mexican restaurant is their chiles rellenos, and although I still have not found a really good one in Oregon, I HAVE found a carne asada burrito that ranks with the best at Carnicerita Mi Casita! Total fan and will be back in a heartbeat. Quaint latino store where you can go grab anything you want, order some amazing tacos, burritos, tamales, menudo, then they ring you up when you're done. We had the Asada, Shredded Beef and Beef Tongue tacos and all were juicy and excellent. The owner simply couldn't be a nicer guy and makes you want to come back.
