The selection was fun to look at (especially the Cajun/funny versions of items: Cajun toilet paper, Cajun wind chimes...) but I found the prices to be too high for my wallet. I'm also not sure the items for sale really fit what I normally buy for myself or for others so the only thing I ended up buying was some alligator jerky. I doubt I'd be back unless we are passing through and need a quick stop. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been there and want a laugh!

It consists of artists and craftspeople of many types showing and selling their creations in an open air marketplace. This is usually in the parking lot of the Saint Joseph's Cathedral, but if the weather is bad it will instead be located on the first floor of the Galvez Parking Garage. The Arts Market is a project of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. It draws artists and crafts folks who work in many types of media. Woodworkers, sculptors, and painters of all sorts are commonly there. But one must also consider the soap-makers, clothing and accessory makers, those who make cards and stationary, potters, collage artist, and others! This is a great place to visit to get unique and local home decorations and gifts! The wearables are something special as well. Jewelry that is uniquely you. Things you certainly won't find at the mall or big box store. And you can feel good about buying local and supporting the artists in the Baton Rouge area!

Her daughter is the precious girl on her business cards I posted in the pics. Fine and Dandy is located in Gonzales, just barely past Prairieville, so super close to Baton Rouge! It's nestled in a little strip mall, currently next to a kickboxing studio. I went at night, but my GPS still took me right to it. I was invited to a painting party and was excited that it was not the same ones I'd been to before where you follow the teacher as she talks you through painting inside the lines. It felt way more creative than that and was completely personalized! Our group of ladies pre-ordered and pre-paid from several choices ahead of time, then they were waiting for us on the table when we walked in! We each made a completely unique, monogrammed masterpiece! I chose the circle with my last name, what year my family was established (est.), and the big letter for my last name - all framed by Mardi Gras beads! I painted mine purple and gold to use all year round for this LSU fan. Truly something I needed as I have nothing on my front door majority of the year. Ashley had great color choices, was helpful to give suggestions and helped finalize the project, but also left you plenty of room for you to let your artsy side just flow! Oh and I can't forget! She has an adorable gift shop set up in her studio too. Lots of local vendors sell items there, and she always does vinyl clothing (like monogramming), and I'm sure way more other options than I even realized. And she said she's constantly getting in new items. Definitely a place to check out on a regular basis and also a place to plan a birthday party for kids, girls' nights, Girl Scout Troop's, etc. And you could totally make a creation to then gift to someone as I'm sure they'd love it! People love monogrammed, y'all! Truly can't wait to return!!
