Today's brunch was at Caro Restaurant, a quaint place located at Ottawa and Main, Hamilton. In a group of 4, I was the only one who haven't been to this place. To start with, we ordered coffee, and to my amazement, they brought us 2 French Press coffee maker! I was delighted! Our server was very pleasant and went over the day's special. She was knowledgeable and pleasant. I ordered the Porchetta Benny-- grilled focaccia | Hollandaise | half rosemary & parmesan home fries and half arugula salad. It was very good! Their home fries were not your typical fries. From my observation, they were lightly smashed cooked whole potatoes broken into random pieces and deep fried to brown crisp perfection! They were unique and oh so crunchy!! The fact that they offered half fries and half salad instead of "either or" was a bonus! Everyone at our table was extremely pleased with what they've ordered. This place will be a repeat in my gastronomy book! Well done!

Shrimp and spaghetti | The Omar pizza

Really enjoyed this place, I got the fried chicken pizza (the Omar) and the shrimp and spaghetti and enjoyed both very much. I love the sweet and savoury taste of the fried chicken on the pizza and the pasta had a perfect amount of sauce and delicious shrimp. The portions were smaller than I thought but I finished feeling a good amount of full so I'm not complaining. (Shared amongst two people)

Carbonara (substituted in spaghetti) - yum!

Food: They kindly substituted in spaghetti in my carbonara. My partner got the shrimp and spaghetti. I couldn't get enough of the pasta - so creamy and delicious! Polenta Fries: many others raved about it, but I was disappointed. Flavour was way too salty. I also expected my fries to have more.. crunch? And more finger-sized so I could hold my fries. But they were gigantic in width, so the outside crunch was lost in the mushy interior. The sauce though, was delicious. Service: sat at the bar. I was confused because the no server came by. Gave our orders to the bartender, then got our food via a different server. Bartender was incredibly friendly and checked on us multiple times. Overall would recommend!

A group of us came on a Tuesday night with a reservation. The restaurant got pretty busy and almost full. I shared the arugula salad and the lasagna. The portion size for the lasagna is on the larger side. I think the food overall was good. The arugula salad was topped with blue cheese, which was delicious, but it felt too heavy on the salt. The lasagna on the other hand felt like it needed a little more flavour. Service was great. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and drinks.

First time visiting Caro and I have nothing but good words to share! Our waitress was very kind, informed us of all their specials and was very knowledgeable about the meals. We started out with the Brussels & Porchetta, which was Delicious!I got the Garganelli Carbonara, it was portioned very well, and my boyfriend got the Caro Lasagna- also portioned out well. He eats a lot and took some of it home, just to help with portion sizes. Will definitely be returning to try some more dishes!

Caro is a charming and cozy spot in the east end of Hamilton. We dined there on a Friday night that was busy but the staff managed to sit us within a reasonable amount of time and provide great service. The pasta and pizza options have something for every taste. The food was delicious and the atmosphere incredible. Can't wait to return for brunch!

Dinner at Caro for four was really good. Service was excellent with laid back knowledgeable staff. Appetizers were flavourful and the mains (Carbonara, Spaghetti & meat ball, and Rigatoni) were enjoyed by everyone. The best cappuccino I have had in a long time. The wine list is quite limited but I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Merlot we chose. It paired with dinner and was reasonably priced. The desert menu is rather sparse but seemed to be enjoyed by those ordering an after dinner sweet. Tables are not crowded in giving diners some room without feeling like you are eavesdropping on other tables conversations. Really love the view onto the street corner and bright clean atmosphere inside. Check it out; really worth the visit!

We eat at a lot of Italian restaurants, but this one stands out. It feels like everything is homemade and prepared with genuine love. All four of us ordered the chicken parmigiana, each with a different pasta pairing. My wife chose gnocchi with red sauce, while I went for penne with the lemon vodka sauce. That lemon vodka sauce was unbelievably rich and creamy. I'm still talking about it! I almost ordered some to go, but honestly, I doubt it would have made it home without me picking at it on the way home. This place is truly a hidden gem, a cozy hole-in-the-wall worth discovering. The waitstaff was warm, friendly, and attentive, and there's plenty of parking right outside. We can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu. A definite 10/10 !

The risotto was very soft, maybe a little overcooked but I still enjoyed it. The veal was fell off the bone nicely and was very tender and the marrow was yummy. The portion was generous and I was full after but of course I had to get the tiramisu! The tiramisu was not as light and fluffy as I expected but the flavour was well balanced. If it' happens to be full, there is a very large municipal parking lot less than a block away on Elizabeth Street. Paradiso is located in Village Square but faces the street the only place to the west of it that separates it from the Municipal Parking is the nice little boutique style LCBO on the corner of Elizabeth and Pine Streets. We have been going here for many years I'm going to say it's been 20 years or very close maybe more for the ever changing menu. The Chef changes it by the seasons so you are always in for a delicious surprise and selections. The only minus I'd say is their wine list by the bottle it is seriously overpriced. The least expensive bottle of Cab-is $55 ( $14.95 @ The LCBO). Although it hasn't kept us away. My husband ordered it regardless he enjoys a bottle of wine with his dinner. I don't drink so I'm a Perrier or similar gal. Our dinners were outstanding and well priced. They start you off with the most delicious yellow bread it reminded me of cornbread but no corn it's thick like cake cut in wide 1" strips and just as high. It's served with a balsamic vinaigrette for dipping. I could keep eating that . I must ask what type it is on our next visit My husband had the Seafood Pasta which Spaghettini Pescatore consisting of Spaghettini with a white wine cream sauce, shrimp (3 large) , calamari and Atlantic salmon. Not a lot of seafood however only $32 so I'm not complaining. I had the Pickled Beet Salad- basil whipped feta, mixed greens, pickled beets, spice toasted almond crumble with a balsamic vinaigrette $16 and I added a marinated chicken skewer $9 extra. Other choices were garlic shrimp, oven baked salmon ,, grilled sirloin and seared ahi tuna - all $9 to $16 (salmon). All very well priced . For dessert I had the Aftgiuto $9 - also delicious - a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream with a side of espresso to pour over it so yummy! My husband's was huge- Salted Pecan Caramel Tart $14 ( more like a pie than a tart,I had to take pictures. Topped with French Vanilla Ice Cream, warm caramel sauce. I tried it, absolutely amazing . We had a great table for two at the very back of the restaurant it was quiet and quaint. Also extremely close to the restrooms which is always handy. We highly recommend Paradiso for lunch or dinner but remember reservations are a must. Keep in mind that the kitchen closes at 9:00p.m.. They won't kick you out but reserve accordingly. We were there two weeks ago Saturday and were shocked that it was completely full right after Christmas in early January and in this economy but as I mentioned earlier it is really affordable. I was also shocked that we had 6:30 reservations and it was 9:00 when we were leaving after our lovely leisurely dinner. We will be back very soon. Below is my husband with his amazing salted caramel pecan tart topped with French vanilla ice cream and warm caramel sauce. The picture I took of it looking down on it you can see what I mean how it is more of a pie than a tart, it's huge. I had a bite of it and even just one bite is so satisfying and beyond delicious it convinces you it's worth every penny . I'd love to order it however it is far too large for me. I wish my husband would share but he loved it far too much to share. Who can blame him? When you go you must try it. We are really into salted caramel desserts but believe me when I say "this the very best salted caramel anything that we ever had, it dances on your tastebuds and I truly mean that". Don't think about it just make your reservations on YELP or call today. Remember Valentine's is just 4 weeks away if you want to take your Sweetheart there for Valentine's you had better make your reservations now.... If it's not too late already. You don't need to thank me just go and enjoy a wonderful affordable dinner. And if you haven't been there before I know that you will become a regular even after just one visit !

They brought out bread and olive oil which was incredible. I think we went through like 6 servings. It was SO good. Along the way, the sommelier came by to introduce herself and make some wine pairing recommendations based on our orders. For appetizers we shared the arancini (a second choice since the polenta fries weren't available), the calamari with shishito peppers, and the cheese with figs I can't remember which. All were very good! My favourite was the cheese. For my entree I had the soup of the day which was a tomato bisque with some fennel, topped with croutons, tomatoes, and cheese. They pour it table side. I loved it. I also had the spicy rigatoni pasta which the server recommended. I was choosing between that and the lasagna but my partner ordered the lasagna so I could try it. It was very good but I was happier with my pasta. For dessert they brought us tiramisu and sparklers, as we were celebrating 2 birthdays. I would go back for many reasons, but the tiramisu is at the top of the list. An exceptional meal altogether. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and we had a wonderful time overall.
