What is your must-do when you visit a small town in Ontario? That's right, fish and chips. This place is popular--- and for good reason! They have gigantic portions for reasonable prices. I split a 2-piece with my friend and we were SO FULL even before we finished it. The fish (I think we ordered cod) was flaky and perfectly fried--- each piece was also almost the length of my forearm. The fries were great on their own but they were even better when you add vinegar! Have to mention the hard working staff behind the counter, manager on floor was really stressed but she kept it together! Everyone was super nice and they even gave us a few extra packets of sauce with our order. The menu was gigantic and can get pretty overwhelming but we were pretty happy with our choices! read more

Checked this place out after catching a fish and chips craving while driving back to Toronto from Niagara. Beamsville Fish and Chips is conveniently located near the QEW, in an unassuming strip plaza. Unfortunately, I'd probably skip out on this place next time. While it's definitely authentic and filling, I found it to be average at best. My friend and I took advantage of their "2 Can Dine" option...until we realized that the 2 Can Dine option is actually more expensive than if we just ordered the individual items. Seriously, take a look at the menu and do the math for yourself. The onion rings were standard fare, frozen rings that you'd get at Walmart. The fish was perfectly battered but lacked seasoning. They could have at least thrown some salt on before battering, or in the batter itself. The fries were okay. Our potato salad side was not good at all - skip this. read more

I've been craving some fish and chips recently so I decided to stop by here on my way home and I can say I was pleasantly surprised. I walked in to find a small local hole-in-the-wall kinda vibe and the friendly smiles of the employees felt genuine. As per her recommendation, I got the Haddock (supposedly a favourite among customers) and chips. I rushed home and immediately started on the fish and chips. I would recommend getting one of the condiments they offer you (tartar, vinegar, ketchup) because both the fish and the chips are not seasoned with any salt/pepper or anything. The fish was a nice big piece and very crispy on the outside and soft (but not soggy!) on the inside. The chips I found to be a tad bit on the extremes. The chips directly in contact with the fish were too soggy and the rest were pretty dry and tasteless. Very thick cut however so with a little salt or ketchup you'll be good to go. Overall, the prices seem a tad bit steep especially for a relatively small place like this, however their portions are adequate and very delicious. The employee seemed very friendly even for what's been a rather lazy Monday evening. She actively made conversation and gave me insight on whats good/popular there and I'd say I'm fairly satisfied with Beamsville Fish & Chips. Considering it's just down the street, I will definitely come back for some of their expertly fried fish. read more

Worst fish place ever I will NEVER order from here again. "Manager" is rude and hangs up on a customer complaining about the service and food received. Ordered over $70 worth of food. Had to wait 25 mins since it was busy. That's understandable. Then they forgot part of the meal so had to go back. When eating shrimp the tail is in the batter. Shrimp looked like a ball of some sort and, of course bit into the tail. When I called about it, clearly upset, I was told "calm down honey" as if I'm a child. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I called back to leave my number for the owner and she said "I talked to the owner and I'm in the right". Wow! Unbelievable! You best believe I'm posting this on every media outlet I can. If the owner wished to handle this in an appropriate manner they would have asked the manager to take down my number and deal with this in a civil way. If I could rate this place a "0 stars" I would! Then the negative response from the owner that continues on trip advisor and their own Facebook page is horrendous! It's terrible that an owner of a business responds in such a way!! I'm seeing that happen on all media platforms when a negative review of this Resturant is posted. The owner clearly can't handle the fact that in business there are people who dislike their food and service. Check out reviews on google, Facebook, yelp, etc! All negative reviews are met with a terrible response from the owner. It's sad really. read more

Wanted to get some French fries only but It cost less to get a Hamburg and fries That didn't make sense but got the combo Hamburg was fair But fries were more than well done,,,close to burnt And could taste the oil as much as the potato Also was told they have to charge me more to eat in It was a cold day and that turned me off Frozen fries from grocery store much better read more

This one of those great fish and chip places that serve excellent fish. The batter is very light and thin creating a great Halibut Fish and chip. Even the coleslaw and deep fried pickles were very good. read more

** WELLAND LOCATION ** Placed an order on March 31 at 7:11 pm for the upcoming Good Friday. Employee took my order and gave me a pick up time of 5:35 pm. Went to pick the order up and as expected they were busy. With the current situation, I understood only letting one person in at a time to pick up and pay for their order. I waited for my name to be called and after being there for 20-25 mins without being called I asked the person working the door how long it would be for my order. I gave her my name and she came back and said there was no such order. I gave her my phone number and also what the order was, she came back again and said there was no such order. She then asked if I was sure I called the right business and I said yes. She then asked if I called the right location, I said yes. I found the time and day in my call log and was told "how do I know you placed an order that day?" REALLY? I came with a specific time, I'm sure I didn't make that up. And honestly to have that said to me is not good customer service. When I was looking for some sort of fix to this, I was told I would have to call and place an order and that the current pick up time was now 8:20...almost 3 hours later than my original order. This was an error on YOUR end and instead of trying to make good on it, you might as well have just called me a liar. I will add that it wasn't a big order, 3 piece haddock and fries and an order of pickles - just a bit over $30 so they could have fixed it. All their orders were behind at this point anyway. I will not order from here again because of the lack of customer service. I will note, reading the reviews here, any time there is a negative review, the person responding turns it around on the reviewer, taking very little ownership of the issue. I've been in customer service my whole life with a huge chunk of it at a management level. Never would I respond the way this business does to negative reviews!! You thank the customer for their review and for the opportunity to learn and grow...that's it. You not only have lost MY business but I will be sure to let all my friends and family know how I was treated and you will lose their business as well. We decided to try this fish and chips place for pick up while we were visiting Canada. It was very small restaurant in the outskirts of Beamsville. Yummmm!! We were surprised! We had the halibut, it was very moist and crispy. Filet was thick and big size. Onion rings are good too. Very crispy. Price was a bit higher than I expected. But the portions were decent and quality was good. We were satisfied! read more

The only reason im giving 2 stars is because the fish n chips were good. I ordered a 3 piece meal with an order of onion rings and the onion rings came to $5.80 with tax. The problem started when i noticed 10 small onion rings in a tiny box. When asked about the ridiculously small amount for the price, the girl said "there is nothing I can do sir, that is the size of the order". I just about shit my pants! Its onion rings....not diamond rings! I asked for my money back because i was not about to eat a single small onion ring for that price and she handed my a 5 dollar bill and said "trade you". I never got my money back in full for the rings. In my opinion....it tastes the same as lakeport fish and chips....just go there because their portions are generous and the staff is much more qualified heaven forbid you have an issue!!! read more

Go there for lunch all the time they have a great lunch special hamburger and fries for $5 they also have two two other restaurants in St Catharines and Welland they are all very good I get Cravings to go there which I'm going to do in another hour I would recommend them to anybody looking for great french fries and the fish is good also read more

Really enjoyed the food. My husband and I shared the 2 pc haddock fish and chips and the basket of shrimp and fries. The homemade coleslaw and tarter sauce were delicious. The batter on the fish was good and not too thick. None of the food was greasy or oily tasting. The young wait staff was great. The place was packed. Locals know a good thing when they have it. Very frustrating experience. Very poor organization. Halibut was good but pick up was a gong show. It was under the wrong name and the order was incomplete. While I waited for the rest of my order, the first part got cold. Staff didn't seem to give a crap about my order, just covering their mistake. Before starting the rest of my order she called the other store to see if I called the wrong store. I already told her I was certain I called the right number. Meanwhile my food is getting colder. To begin, the food was not terrible. I had the Cod with some fries and that is the only reason I am giving two stars. The first time it looked like a standard small town food joint, while ordering you can see the stoned high school kids working in the back, no adults in sight. Like I stated the food was decent so I returned a few weeks later with my girlfriend. It was a cold winters night so I did not want to drive far for dinner tonight. Among the other restaurants in town this was the only place that didn't have a 20 minute wait Saturday night. (not a good sign) We placed our order then took a seat at a table, a few minutes later a young server came up to us and asked if we were going to in eat tonight or take out. (Usually asked while placing the order) We decided to eat in until the server told us there was a price increase to do so. A price increase to eat in? After asking why that was the server replied "cuz plates and stuff". Let me get this straight, so when I go out to eat I'm being charged for someone to wash our dirty "plates and stuff?" Should I bring my own "plates and stuff" next time to avoid the fee? Needless to say I was annoyed and if my girlfriend wasn't so hungry Id have just taken my money back and grabbed McDonald's. read more
