The playground itself had a rope course, zip line, swings, and a younger kid playground area. There are also swings with a variety of styles. The playground is separately fenced in and beside a large swing and grass zone that is beautiful, but seems to be the spot for the homeless population. I did not want to take pictures of them to show the amount- but it was roughly 70% of that area filled with them. I don't think this should keep you from visiting though. We had a great experience at the park and our children had a lot of fun on the playground.

In the 6+ years l have been living here, I have never had a extremely long wait. I have always been greated pleasantly. Always received help when I had a question without issue. It's truly an Americana town with so much history dating as far back to the 1732 British settlement. We took a lovely stroll on the Riverwalk and soaked in the scenery. Saw many different types of boats coming thru on the water as the trailhead is right there. Boaters can even dock, do lunch or simply just walk around town. Few people were fishing, and many families were enjoying the fully fenced in playground. A local hot spot right on the edge of the riverwalk is a place called Chanti's Pizza, it's a popular local restaurant that caters to many homeowners, as well as great reviews by numerous visitors that come to town too! Would be a perfect place to dine if spending some time here and wanting to have lunch or dinner on the water. It's truly an iconic boardwalk trail (approximately 1.5-mile of a scenic pathway) along Waccamaw River that goes under the US-501 bridge and over some extremely old railroad tracks. Stunning views of the river and an abundance of Spanish moss draping the trees. Definitely a must do if you are near this community or while traveling on vacation just as we were.

Best of all, it's free. In October, definitely come back for the Halloween town when the trees are decorated with hanging pumpkins and there are spooky displays everywhere. The calendar features events like movie nights, food trucks, and the scare factory.

It was on my bucket list for 5 years and I finally made it :) The walk to the mailbox from the 40th street was surely not a short one, roughly 3 miles to & fro but was worth it every minute. I went on a chilly December morning, so wasn't surrounded by a lot of folks which I sort of liked as it gave me some alone time with my thoughts. The abundance of shells everywhere on the sand made me a child once again, making me happily collect a whole lot of them as souvenirs. Finally the mailbox - Reading through countless pages of beautifully penned words by people who were there before me, gave me an undescribable connect to them. So many emotions - happiness, grief, thankfulness, separation among others. When I think about that spot, I could still hear the sounds of the waves crashing and a light, cool breeze blowing. It's a memory I'll cherish for years to come. You need to visit it at least once in your lifetime. It is definitely something being there. Note: Parking is very tight so try going early. And, the notebooks are archived at UNCW Archives @ Wilmington. Call them to read years of previous entries.

Inside the mailbox you will find notebooks where you can write your own personal message. A message of your own can be whatever you like. A must see and do in my book. Facing the Sunset Beach Pier walk right about a mile or so. Walking the beach on the right high up on dune you will see a small hill of sand leading to the mailbox and a couple benches. Keep walking! You will find it.

SOCASTEE Postoffice horrible always line out the door not enough help when you go there…read more been getting other peoples mail for 2 years put in a service request last month still getting other peoples mail tried calling SOCASTEE Postoffice just keeps ringing and ringing no one picks up phone to help you mail currier keeps giving me wrong peoples mail after they told them and requested was in also missing my packages this is the 3rd time he must put into someone else is numbered mailbox and they kept it never received my package this is really horrible service had to get a replacement this is so ridiculous and frustrating to say the very least !!!!! Horrible service get someone to do the job right!!!

It is in Gresham, SC, close to where Francis Marion and his men secretly camped in between skirmishes with the British during the Revolutionary War. Marion is the father of modern guerrilla warfare and his legacy lives on with the U.S. Army Rangers. One of my favorite movies, although historically inaccurate, "Patriot" is partially based on Francis Marion. Actually, the main character Benjamin Martin, is based on several patriots of the American revolution but primarily Francis Marion up until slightly after the halfway point of the film. It's a good movie but keep in mind that it's somewhat historically inaccurate. The marker has a paved "pull off" next to the highway heading east.

The front of the marker reads, "During the American Revolution Gen. Francis Marion (ca. 1732 ~ 1795), the most successful of the Patriot partisan leaders, made his camp and headquarters about 1.8 mi. SSW on Snow's Island. The island, named for settlers James and William Snow, is bounded by the Pee Dee River, Lynche's River, and Clark's Creek." And the reverse, "Marion, called "the Swamp Fox," led a S.C. militia brigade that camped on the island in the winter of 1780 ~ 81. In March 1781, with Marion and his men absent, Loyalist under Col. Welborn Doyle raided and destroyed the camp. Marion continued to frustrate British and Loyalist commanders until the end of the war." [Review 19371 overall - 945 in South Carolina - 341 of 2023.]
