Having not previously rented a home beach front we were excited and willing to splurge for a treat beach front. However, upon arrival were disappointed. I spent our first evening cleaning the kitchen. There were numerous items damaged in the home and it simply was not as we were expecting. Upon reaching out to Atwood, we were informed the home was for sale and under contract therefore the owner had said they would not be doing any additional work, stating that they knew of some of the issues I had photographed. I am quite disappointed by Atwood. As a rental company, I believe knowing this information, they should have reached out to us as renters prior to our arrival to let us know the home was under contract and not in the condition one would expect. As the week went on other issues came up but having been flippantly told, "the owner won't be doing anything else, sorry" there was no point in calling. Though I did send an email later in the week and received no reply. A better model for business would have called us and told us so that we had the opportunity to change accommodations if we wanted. A great model of business would have had an alternative in mind to recommend for us. Very disappointed in the service we received from Atwood, and that they allow an owner to no longer keep up with a home once for sale but will continue to rent.

Super pleasant place to stay…read more Sea La Vie has direct access to the lovely beaches of Edisto. With the shortest of walks you're hanging out in the waves. Recently remodeled, with a large spacious kitchen with an ultra useful kitchen island. Four large bedrooms each with their own bathroom which is quite convenient. This is one of the nicer places myself and my family have stayed in Edisto. With a little bit of extra thought and preparation this place would be a stellar 5 star vacation rental. The home has lovely pots and pans, but the worst knives ever. I ended up buying a sharpener in order to deal with the stunningly dull cutlery. 1000 serrated steak knives, but only one non serrated chef's knife. I'll probably bring my own knives next time as I love to cook while on vacation!

Therefore we were charged $325 and told we left the place in "disarray". I suppose we should have been cleaning all weekend instead of going to the beach or anything else for that matter. I understand that trashing the place is unacceptable, however the TH was not trashed and we only used two of the three beds. If you can go somewhere else please do. We travel a lot and never have I ever been charged so ridiculously

I visit the Townhouse the 1st full week in April (The Masters week in Augusta). We have always…read moreenjoyed our visit. Relaxing and calming. Once we had to stay in another unit while they worked on ours. No problem even though it was smaller. This year we had a major problem. The first day the downstairs bathroom toilet clogged at night. We called the office and reported the problem the next morning. They asked if we had a plunger, we did not. They said they would send a repairman right away. He arrived​ around 5pm. He plunged it and said it was fine. He also asked if we had a plunger. The next morning the toilet clogged again. I called the office and left a message. After waiting all day with no return call, I then called the after hours phone number. Later the same repairman showed up with a plunger and cleared the toilet. He said the toilet needed roto-router. For the next 5 days I continued to plung the toilet at least once a day. Not exactly a pleasant way to spend a vacation. The stairs going to the second floor were loose and made a noise when they rocked upon stepping on them. Finally, one window has been missing for a screen for a couple of years. I have recommended these town houses in the past, but not anymore.

Staying at King Cotton in a 3 bedroom presidential. It's on the main property after you go through the guard entrance, on sea cloud circle. So relaxing. Very quiet and insulation kept it very quiet inside. Comfy beds and spacious. Beautiful property with lots of live oaks and Spanish moss and little march ponds with "don't feed the alligators" on each one. The first morning the coffee maker (fancy Cuisinart machine) wouldn't make coffee. Found the guest services number 843-869-4500, and a nice man (Jamie?) from inventory promptly brought us a new one. He then showed us how to press "carafe" then the "brew" button. He left the new one just in case! Then maintenance showed up as we had asked Jamie to call them about the light and fan above the stove not working. Very nice maintenance man showed up right after I had figured out the combination of switches they had installed to help the handicapped.....it is a modified unit to help the handicapped. He was very nice about it and showed me a safety trick with the garbage disposal. Anyway, great staff, got through the sales gauntlet in about 15 minutes.....and they did try hard. But being silver vip owners we have learned how to say no and insist on it.

The price was low for a beachfront property, so we knew it would be rustic with few updates, which was totally fine with us. However, the house is run down and needs a serious deep clean. Dust bunnies and dirt inside the bread box, a thick layer of grime and cobwebs along the porch ledge and windowsills. The washing machine full of sand and grime. There is no beach supply closet with chairs and plastic beach toys like most rentals. Their beach shed has an old dirty toilet in it. There are pallets of old wood just laying around in the covered parking area. There are 2 fridges, which is nice, but one has no sides on any of the shelves, rendering them useless. No ice makers. Only 2 plastic trays that were empty on arrival. Couldn't locate a single dish towel anywhere. Not a shred of toilet paper in any of the 3 bathrooms when we arrived. We are happy to buy our own, but isn't leaving at least a portion of a roll just understood?? Everything I listed above I can overlook- but here is the main reason for our disappointment. THE BEDS! Every single mattress is terrible. And every single bed makes a loud creaking noise with the slightest movement. And the doors on the bedrooms are the slatted closet type sliding doors so sound travels and there is little privacy. It was impossible for us to get a good nights sleep. And after waking up from fitful rest with a sore back, none of the other furniture in the home was comfortable either. There was just no relief. The beach behind the house is small- especially at low tide. The realty company was pleasant to deal with, and I realize the homeowners and cleaning staff share in the responsibility for the condition of the home. But when I booked, I asked the employee if I could read any reviews of the property. She said they don't provide them. I asked if there was ère any reported issues with the house and she said she wasn't aware of any complaints. I find that hard to believe since there is another 1 star review of this same property on this site. This was not a good experience and we won't be back.

Their customer service is great, from phone conversations, to picking up our keys in the office, to the friendly technician that they sent over promptly when we had an issue with one of the lights in the cottage not functioning properly. My dropping of two stars is something that I found unreasonable with their preparation for a 3-bedroom, 1-week house rental and only supplying a half-used roll of paper towels, 2 rolls of TP per bathroom, 2 single-use laundry detergents, and one miniature bottle of dish soap. Maybe a heads-up in the welcome documents about bringing additional supplies would've been appreciated. Armies of sugar ants invaded the kitchen on several occasions, but I've been coming to Kiawah long enough to know that insects and critters are just a normal siting, and as long as the roaches are slow-moving or one creepy leg away from the grave due to a decent pest treatment, I'm OK with that. I would give the owners of this cottage 5 stars for the decor, amenities, and well-stocked kitchen appliances, cookware and dishware, but it's not their responsibility to have their rental ready to go for vacationers, and I just feel that Beachwalker should've provided an adequate stash of supplies for a week's worth of a 3-bedroom place. Great week, great weather, and should we rent through Beachwalker again, I'll keep in mind to pack extra gear.

It was during the ride that I experienced unreasonable pressure to let her see my home, even after explaining I wasn't interested in selling. I was utterly shocked by the lack of professionalism and the overbearing disposition of Marie Bost.
