High end gun sales and support. People are buying guns, especially hand guns, for self-defense, along with ammunition. In fact, lots of people are buying guns. You notice the semi-emptiness of the displays of ammo and the gun cases. As a shooter, I worry that people are getting guns and really do not know how to use them. Which leads me back to CSA. They have a full range that people can use to practice. Also, they do have classes and orientations, to include concealed carry sessions. And they have the qualified, knowledgeable instructors on their staff to teach and assist. This comes in handy when you want to purchase a fire-arm. Unless you KNOW what you want, you can get lost. CSA has great sales staff who know their stuff. Beretta comes to mind as my son bought his Beretta shotgun there. But they have most of the popular brands of rifles, shotguns and hand-guns/pistols. They can fine what you want. As to customer support, they do have a gun smith in-house, who is very busy. They also have an arrangement with Mike Sherman, PMS Firearms, a well-known and respected gunsmith in Salisbury to whom they outsource work. I recently had a shotgun worked on, by Mike, and it had been sent out to him for the repairs, which took time. It was about three weeks for me on that one. good work and the gun came back all cleaned and polished up, like new. If it shoots, they either have it, can get it and can support it. I had a wonderful experience on July 25, 2020. Right at the entrance I was greeted with a smile from the lady upfront. I told her that I was a novice. She went over some suggestions and the price guide. I was sent to rear of the store to sign a simple document . They then had me watch a informative and quick video before entering range. For my payment - I received a 1/2 hour of training, glasses, ammunition and hearing protection/ear muffs... I felt lucky to have Joey Attanasio as my instructor!! He was professional and patient with me. He definitely kept his promise that it would be a fun experience...!! We went over gun safety , handling a firearm, the grip, the clip, loading and firing. I took the Concealed Carry Handgun class with instructor Joey. He made the class fun and enjoyable while still learning a significant amount. He is extremely knowledgeable with many firearms and is a practicing gunsmith outside of work. He demonstrates real world scenarios tying in the laws and necessary information for everyday carrying. Joey is the best instructor you could ask for. He will help you with everything and make sure you are prepared enough to pass the class and carry. Joey teaches on the 3rd Saturday of the month. The range is clean and provides incredible air circulation. With lead removal being a priority they have sticky mats for the floor & de-lead removal soap for all patrons. The selection of firearms is far superior to many stores around. Providing many makes and models with adequate price tags fitting anyone's budget. Ammunition is plentiful in brand and caliber. You can't go wrong with taking your Concealed class with Joey or stopping by for the range. read more

For the moment, I have a gun in my home that a friend has lent me so that I could decide if this is something I really want around. So far, only good things to say. I've been to a defensive pistol association "shoot" so that I could get better not just at hitting a stationary piece of paper but also be comfortable handling this weapon in a more 'active' situation. I had already stopped by Hyatt and checked out their accessories, finding them to be much more expensive than anything available on the Internet. While they were very helpful, I thought it might be best to shop around. Which brought me to Carolina Sporting Arms. Similarly stocked with accessories in a neatly organized manner, a sales guy was immediately able to help point me to what I was looking for. And I found that here too, it's very expensive compared to Internet pricing. So that's two. If you're looking for something that cant be shipped FedEx (like a gun or live ammunition) or if there is something you need right away, then here is a good stop. But if you can wait for it, there are any number of sporting goods vendors on the Internet that will save you a bunch of money. read more

I have been a costumer here for 8 years. Buying and bringing new people into this location. I have now been waiting for 8 months for an explanation as to the where abouts of my fire arm that CSA LOST. Upon my own investigation. 24 phone calls later. Browning has my firearm and has been awaiting Carolina sporting arms response as to why they have yet to pay their own bill. I was given a date to receive a call and explanation. ....8 months 3 weeks later and no phone call has been provided. Upon my phone call to them they threatened me with police involvement if I did not stop Calling them....lol I just want my property back and maybe if they see it fit, an explanation instead of a threat. SECOND INCIDENT I was "guided" into buying a 1981 semi auto shotgun with an "invector plus" choke...3 different employees told me this was an invector choke system. I get home to find out it's a fixed full none interchangeable choke. I visited the store again where I was called a liar multiple times. IF I DIDNT HAVE IT ON VIDEO THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER APOLOGIZED by refusing to give me a supervisors contact info but "smoothing it over" with 3 free range passes.... INCIDENT THREE I witnessed not one but 3 employees kick back and laugh about the "ni**er acting a fool" ......thanks to my very lite complexion they failed to realize...I'm part of "that ni**er acting a fool". read more

Horrible Customer Service. Rude. Incompetent. I will NEVER again enter this store or ever spend another dollar here. I recently purchased a new handgun. I wanted the springs changed to decrease the trigger pull. I also brought in an optic that I asked for them to mount. Them: "This is an easy job. Should be done in a couple of days." I'm thinking "great" as I was heading out of town in a week to some private land where I could zero it in and run a bunch of rounds through it. I called back a week later. I'm told "your gun will be done sometime next week.". I was disappointed. But no big deal. I called a week later. Him: "so what gun is it?" Me: I gave him the make and model. Him: "are you "Name"? Me: "No" Him: are you "Name"? Me: "No. How about if you look up my name instead of the model of the gun?" Him: "Our books don't really work like that." I can hear him on the phone rummaging around looking for my firearm. Him: "I can't find it." Me: "I'm on this side of town and was hoping to pick it up." Him: "I can't find it. And I can't give you an update on the status of the work on it." Me: "That's more than a bit frustrating. I'd like to pick up MY property." Him: "I'm looking through the book. It was checked in and not checked out. It has to be here." Me: "If it is there, could you find it so that I can pick it up." Him: "The gunsmith isn't here. You'll have to call back on Monday." Me: "Perhaps the gunsmith could call me for an update on the status." I didn't call back on Monday. Nor was I contacted by CSA. I waited until Thursday when I had time to drive to CSA. I walked in and said "I'm here to pick up my firearm.". The guy was confused. I handed him the ticket. He went in back and came back out. "Did you get a call that it was ready?". Me: "I've received no communication of any kind. Can I please have my property back?" He gets my firearm, my trigger springs, and my optic. Me: "I was told this would take a couple of days." Him: "well we're just so busy." Instead of giving him an earful about their horrific customer service, I opted to not increase my blood pressure. I took my property and walked out. No apologies of any kind from them. I headed directly for Hyatt. They did the work On The Spot. No attitude. Just good work at a fair price. I will Never, Ever, give CSA any business and will tell everyone in the firearms community to avoid these rude, incompetent Good 'Ol Boys. And then there's the shooting range. The attitude they give you is absurd. $10 per hole? At a range? In hindsight I'm glad that they didn't work on my gun as I wouldn't trust them to wipe their own cornholes effectively (probably not a priority for these hicks), let alone do quality work on a firearm. Very welcoming staff at the front however once I got to the back not so much. New to this range however brought my own equipment. Walked in and spoke however the older gentlemen behind the counter didn't even budge. I know people can be hard of hearing...So I said hello sir. I'm here to sign in as a first time guest here thinking maybe he was on the phone or watching a video. He never greeted me only just pointed me to the tablets in the corner. When it's your first time in a new facility, you want to feel welcomed and while I felt that up front. In the back range area, it was the opposite. But I'm a laid back guy so I just let it go and went to shoot. When I came out for a break and asked for advice because I'm still a fairly new shooter about 4 months or so. I simply asked if they had any pointers of how to get out of the 8's. They wouldn't tell me anything and directed me to take $30/$40 counseling session they give instead. So I choose to pass a learn on my own. To conclude, if you're looking to just get a few rounds out at a pretty clean place with little interaction sure go ahead. However, if you're fairly new to shooting or you're like myself where you don't care whether a facility is clean & has the best prices or not but how they treat their customers, then I wouldn't waste my time. I'll still to driving 30 mins to point blank range where I've never had a bad experience over 15 min drive here. May give it another chance down the line but for now I'll pass. read more

Absolutely terrible. I recently moved into an apartment with my girlfriend and wanted a rifle for home defense. Something on the smaller side was a must so she would be able to use it if need be. We came here and were the only customers in the shop and not the range. After no acknowledgment from the three employees in the shop we began our search. We ended up choosing a Kel-Tec Sub2000. It's a nice rifle in my opinion and if you don't know, it take's Glock magazines and 9mm ammunition. Im currently nineteen and plan to conceal a Glock at twenty-one when the law allows so I figured this was a huge plus. After a brief conversation about the rifle with an employee who could care less, I completed a background check and purchased it along with fifty rounds of the 9mm ammunition it takes. Now, Im not one to long for conversation with strangers so the attitude didn't phase me, but I can't help but feel taken advantage of when no one cared to share a piece of vital information. After shooting the 50 rounds with a buddy a couple months later, I thought it was time to get a few hundred more and resupply. But I would be surprisingly mistaken. After going to a different gun shop (Cabelas) to buy some 9mm ammo, I was told It could not be sold to me due to my age. I was taken aback and told them Ive been sold this ammo before at Carolina Sporting Arms when I bought it with my rifle but obviously there was nothing he could do about it so I left frustrated. I went right to Carolina Sporting Arms and told them about my experience at Cabelas and they told me the exact same thing, they couldn't sell me the ammo because of my age. I went straight home to make sure I still had the receipt to prove I bought it from them and called the store. I spoke to an employee who transferred me over to who I assume is the owner or manager Chris. He seemed nothing but bothered with our conversation and told me that the only way someone under twenty-one can purchase 9mm ammo is if it is purchased along with a rifle holding the same caliber. Ive never heard of that before and didn't know if he was telling the truth so I didn't say much to that. Nonetheless Chris didn't care at all about the problem or the fact that no one mentioned that to me when I bought it or obviously I wouldn't have. I genuinely asked him if there's any way for me to get the ammo knowing Im buying it for the rifle I purchased from his store. I figured since he's introducing me to new laws maybe theres one I haven't heard of where I can just get the ammo and go to the range. He very passive aggressively told me he doesn't make the laws and that Im asking him to break them. He said my only options are to sell it back to him for a fraction of what I paid or wait till I'm twenty-one. I take full responsibility in my ignorance to the law and if I knew that at the time I would have stockpiled on ammo when I bought the rifle. I just feel like thats a pretty important thing to not tell someone and while I am technically in the wrong here for not knowing the law, that is definitely a very scummy way of doing business. read more

I have 2 ranges/shops near me. Tried Blackstone first because it was closer and the staff was terrible. Not like, they annoyed me because I'm being a Karen, but more like in the top 3 worst service experiences of my life. (on par with a DMV in California.) So, I went to Carolina Sporting Arms next. Night and Day. Immediately greeted at the door and went to the back to check into the range. Some old timers were there and helped me out right away and were super friendly and informative. I went up to the range and began taking out my .22 to zero (only the second time I ever tried to zero a scope) Immediately a gentleman named Mike who's the head of training there, asked if I wanted a chair and rest to put the rifle on. He let me know it'd be a few bucks more on the bill but I was happy to grab it. I didn't even know it was an option. He even showed me there was a magnet to put my targets up on and offered to help me if I needed it with zeroing. That's some above and beyond friendly service, especially at a gun shop. After several attempts at zeroing it in I got close but wasn't figuring out how to get it dead on. I asked him for help and he nailed it in less than 3 tries. I was super appreciative and it was awesome to have someone there to not only help but to offer it. It gets even better. I ran out of.22 so I started running another 200 rounds through my 9mm. It was pretty new and only had 300 round through it the first time I used it. I kept hitting low and to the left. Without even asking, Mike came over again and without charge gave me some pointers on my grip to avoid that. I ran out of ammo but it could have easily been an awesome tutoring session. Not only was the service here great but it went above and beyond and was one of the best experiences anywhere. Seriously, it's hard to even get the bottom baseline experience anymore in 2023. (Today is now 2024) I'll definitely be going back there to purchase my next rifle and that will be my home range now for shooting for fun and zeroing scopes etc.. I'd recommend going here if you're in the greater Charlotte area, especially if you're a newer shooter who wants a helpful and friendly staff. read more

The friendly guys behind the counter are of course intimately familiar with North Carolina gun laws and can explain every minute detail of the weapons they carry. With crime on the rise or at least not exactly on a leash in Charlotte, considering protection for your home and family is not a bad idea. Beware of this place! Tried to use the Silencer shop kiosk that they offer, so after purchasing the suppessor from the silencer shop and doing all Of my parts. I went in on a Sunday the atf website was down. Went back the following sunday when john Gregory( the employee ) who said he was the only one who could do it. ( a Lie) said he was working.
