Shooters Express has continued to go "down the hill" since I have been shopping there. They won't match pricing, the transfer fee is 50.00 and they have not grown their retail space since the 90s. The manager with the earing needs to be retired. He appears stressed out and frantic and never seems to be happy. My family lives 2 miles away and it is an absolute chore to do business here. We priced 9mm yesterday and it was 200.00 higher per thousand than the 3 closest ahop. Time for change in management here. read more

I had to come back and give another star after recently going to the gun range. I had heard bad things in the past about the range but honestly, it wasn't that bad. I believe it's only 25 yards which is a little short, but It had good lighting and the target retrieval system was excellent much better than the system at PSA. Everyone that works there has always been very nice. I even broke one of the rules by having loaded mags, and the guy didn't give me a hard time about it. The price of the range was reasonable. The only thing that I will knock them on is the price of guns and accessories as well as transfer fees. Shooters express is exponentially more expensive than everyone else. read more

My brother and I have both been going to Shooters Express in Belmont for more than 20 years. The guys & gals who work there are just down right friendly, honestly , and everyone there is well versed on any of the pistols, shotguns, AR and tactical, including gun safes and holsters. They carry all lines of Ammo from 22, 38, 45 and all gauges of shotgun defense. Their pricing is definitely lower than most of the other dealers in the area and they have layaways as well. I'm not an employee but I've been there so many times I have gained a lot of knowledge just from talking to the sales people there. I'm getting ready tomorrow to go buy myself a 10 or 12 guage shotgun for home defense. With the election coming I feel there's going to be some serious negative things happening. Better to be safe than sorry. Shooters Express is the go to gun shop in the surrounding area for great prices and great selection with a lot of sales going on right now. Ask for Dean or Terry. On a weekday afternoon, I thought I might pop up here and refresh my skills at making holes in paper and high velocity rather than driving over to the range in Matthews. Since most folks were busy at their daily grind, there was no waiting. It's small and it's loud but it's good enough. If you've never been here before, they have a three minute safety video that you have to watch. Once that's done, you're good to go! I bring my own targets, my own ammunition, my own gun, my own ear/eye protection. So really, the only think I'm paying for here is the range time. After my noise making was done, I wandered over to the other side of the shop and reviewed the hardware they had on sale. No great bargains, but no big markups either. A handgun I've been watching at another shop for $529 was $519 here. More or less, the same price. This is a neat little range. If you're looking to shoot, this is a great place to go! read more

People who read my reviews know, I do NOT like to give below 5 stars, even 4, but I have to when I have to. My husband and I just moved to NC in February, we were looking for a new range home. We had a membership up in Virginia and we shoot every Sunday, it's our thing. We were open minded about all of the ranges around, and started with the closest to us, which happened to be Shooters Express. To be fair, I have read, and re-read, all of the reviews positive and negative and we gave the experience an open minded fair shot. The Shop: I liked it, I have seen better prices, and I have seen worse prices, we are originally from Chicago IL so, these prices are QUITE lower than we are accustomed to. The shop was laid out nice, and I oogled at the Kimber that no matter WHO sells it I cannot afford it. I liked the shop, hubby liked the shop although, I will say this; no one ever asked if I needed help with anything, or if I would like to see anything. To me, that is a lost opportunity. To be fair, I do NOT look like your typical Gastonian that I have seen around here. When I am at the range I have shoulder length platinum, and pink pigtails. Just saying, you might have made a sale; but I digress. The Employees: Absolutely friendly, at the range, very busy but still polite and kind, made sure we knew where to sign in, we didn't have long to wait, and we did not see a fee for having our own ammunition. They were all very nice, though I did not have a chance to speak to anyone in the shop portion. I am sure they are very nice as well given the demeanor of the staff on the range. The Range: This, I have to admit, I expected more. I CAN say that even while it was warm outside, I was freezing because they have gotten the heating and air-conditioning figured out for sure! No more complaints for that will come their way. Given how much we paid to shoot, probably between 30-45 minutes maybe an hour but I doubt it, if everyone is paying that, or membership fees, I would have expected a cleaner, roomier well lit, and safer facility. I look for standard things such as; Can I hang my target straight? Can I see everything I need to, and feel secure? Do I feel my belongings are safe? Is there an RSO right there? If there is an Emergency, is it easy to get out? All of these things were answered no, and this is the unfortunate part. There was a huge bottleneck of people by the door to the range itself, there were FAR too many people in the very tiny space in my opinion to be safe. There was no RSO ON the range, as there was nowhere for there to be one, it was so crowded in there. Having to load magazines away from my firearm in fact, with my back turned from it, I've always been told you never leave your firearm unattended, that is NOT comfortable!!! That, is a dangerous situation and I won't apologize for that. Our belongings as per the Rules MUST be placed on a back table, so also not comfortable with leaving my case, that has all of my ammunition, as per the rules, my speed loader, and holster, my jacket, and purse with my money, phone etc. in it on some back table when I am facing the opposite direction focused on the range. I understand there is a window, however, a good thief could be long gone before ANYONE can get to them. I don't like thinking that way but unfortunately, I have found out there is crime everywhere, it has no zip code. So, While I have experienced better, I think that there is an opportunity for Shooters Express' range to grow, I think it's clientele has outgrown the facility and it needs a major overhaul. I hope that it gets one, I'd love to go back and see it when it does I think for a local place, with so many customers, it deserves to be as awesome as it CAN be! read more

Excellent shooting range! Jada (shooting range attendant) was so extremely helpful to me, as I'm someone who hasn't gone shooting in a long time! I had just bought my first pistol that day and wanted to see how it shot. It also happened to be ladies day and that was a huge bonus. She has only been working there for a few months and I could've sworn she had been working there for years. Definitely recommend!! She also gave me an assault rifle to shoot (the ammo was cheap, $3.75 for 50 rounds - so of course I wanted to try, I'd never shot a long gun of any kind) and she was such a pro helping me out get set up. She also let me borrow fast louder for my 9MM so I could load it easier and that was such a tremendous help I ended up buying one. Customer service..not good. I went there around feb 23 2023..I think. I was looking for a 4.25 in commander style 1911. Gonna use a striker fired pistol..which I bought there and cash for trade and purchase. They had none. There was a lady and young guy in there. Neither one come over to the case where the 1911s were to talk to me.I had to stand there alone and talk across the store. I ask about ordering one. I was surprised by the answer..which was... They only get the guns that their supplier's allow them to get..they would not or could not order me one. I not kidding. Man..I didn't even know how to react to that. They just let me walk out out...no good bye..no thanks for coming in...nothing. Needless to say..l left there went to the west end of Gaston co..just a few miles..and found my New go to gun store who not only welcomed me..but ordered my New Ruger .45 lightweight commander style 4.25 1911. Shooter in the next lane pointed his pistol at my daughter. I kindly asked him to point it down range. Two minutes later he had it pointed behind him at 45 degree angle towards my wife. She asked him to point it down range. I exited the range and told the range masters that the guy has pointed his gun at my family twice and they need to do something. He told me to calm down. I didn't. I was then asked to leave, but nobody from range had entered the range to address the unsafe shooter. They were more concerned with a 15 year customer being upset than everyone on the ranges safety. read more

On 11/20/20 I went in around 6:30PM to purchase a rifle. Decided on what I wanted and we started doing background requirement. A few minutes after we sent it off it came back delayed and the salesman I was working with told me that on the 26th I should be good to pick up the gun regardless if the background comes back because due to covid the backgrounds have taken a long time. The salesman then tells me that I should pay now rather than wait til pickup and pay because I stand the chance of losing the gun if someone else comes in to buy it (they had 3 in stock). I went ahead and paid and they set it as a layaway payment and left me with a balance of $0.01 to pay when I pick up the gun. So the gun was pretty much paid in full as I paid ($620.58). I get home and do some research and see another gun im interested in. After searching around I see another gun store in Charlotte has it. I call Shooters on 11/21/20 and ask if they have it they say yes so I decided to go there. I get there and see that although they do have the gun its not priced as well as the other store considering the other store is including a laser scope with the gun for $899.99 while Shooters is charging $859.99 for the gun alone. I ask if they can price match and they say no. So I asked for a refund. Thats when I was told of a 15% restocking fee for a gun that I never took home, or fired. Nowhere on the website do they mention that, nowhere on any receipt or document I signed did it say that. So I got a refund minus $93. I get home and search the receipt to make sure I wasnt crazy, how can I be charged a restocking fee for a gun I never took home and from the time of purchase to the time of refund it was less than 24 hours. I didn't see it anywhere so I called Dean (Manager) and he told me "normally we have the customers sign papers that state that and we didnt lastnight I apologize." He didn't acknowledge my statement about it not being on the website either. He asked what I wanted him to do and how he could make it right. He decided to "make it right" by offering me a credit on the range or in-store. Not once did he offer to give my $93 back. It seems to me that they made up a policy on the spot. Now I wont assume but I have my reason I suspect why they decided to do that to me. As a business owner myself I have my terms on my website and they are concrete and every client has to accept them before they can even do business with me. I have called my bank and disputed the $93.00 and as the Bank of America rep said to me "you cant charge someone for something they didnt know about." This was my first time going into this business but it will be my last and I hope this review helps someone else avoid them also. read more

It's like a supermarket for self defense.The staff are polite and wear protective masks and gloves. I was in there today around lunch time and the store was super busy. I walked trying to get my sights realigned and to have a striker plunger and spring installed under my rear sight on my M&P 2.0.. The gun smith was already busy and Anthony Trivette ,"a sales guy," walked over and offered to help. He took my slide and took it to the back and went to work. It took minutes and he came back and charged me a very fair price. I had the sights installed earlier at a competitor's store and had complaints about the sights being off and no lock tight being used. I was charged more at the competing company and the work was sloppy. I'd like to thank Mr. Trivette for such a positive experience. read more

Staff totally ignored me as I wandered around their store despite me being one of 2 other customers in the store. No recognition, no acknowledgement. Guess they were just too busy doing whatever they were doing. Tried to initiate some friendliness by mentioning the article but no positive feedback. Eek... avoid! We walked into Shooters Express Gun Shop looking to pop off a few rounds. The range is in the back of the shop, ensuring that you walk through the retail portion. There are two separate ranges, one for rifles/shotguns and one for handguns. We checked in with the range master and he asked if it we had safety cards. We didn't, as this was our first visit. He handed us a business card sized safety card and told us to fill in the info (name & birthday). That was it. I'm not sure what video the others are referring to, as we didn't watch it. The range itself had terrible ventilation. No air conditioning/cooling just a fan that didn't oscillate. Sweating at the lanes while trying to hold a loaded gun. No bueno. The lighting was poor. My biggest complaint is pricing. $18 per hour per PERSON... with an one hour minimum. Most indoor ranges charge by lane, not person. Plus... they charge for targets... Customer service was poor and unfriendly. $40 for two people to shoot for less than 30 minutes (we brought our own guns & ammo, otherwise that figure would be way higher). The bathroom was gross. With how much money they are making at the range, you would figure they could at least spruce up the bathroom a bit. I've been to a fair share of indoor shooting ranges across the country and this was by far the least impressive! read more

Range is much more expensive than most, and it's horrible. Hot wiith poor ventilation. One big fan and that's it for cooling and ventilation. Lighting is poor as well. Staff seems like they all hate being there, no one is friendly and they seem to think that only people who work there know anything about guns or ammo. Unless they know you as a regular. Then they will grace you with their approval and acceptance. Other than that, you're just an idiot they don't want to be bothered with. They are gouging prices right now on the hard-to-find .22 lr, especially the CCI mini-mags. I will not support any gun shop who takes advantage of their customers like that, then treats you like you should feel honored they allowed you in the doors. There are still several places getting CCIs in and still selling them for $8 like they should be, and treat you with common courtesy. Why anyone goes here, I don't know, other than convenience maybe. read more

The guy behind the counter should know mullets and ear piercings are out too.. Great place to go look at a lot of guns. But if you don't want to take a huge hit then buy from someone else. And don't think about trading anything in or you will walk out mad. I understand that they're not going to give me retail pricing on a trade but don't let me leave insulted.. Well my first time at the gun range,and I must admit...it was FUN! So here goes my Pros/Cons Pros: 1. Knowledgeable Staff 2. Plenty of fire power sadly that's where it ends Cons: 1.BUSY-that's good thing for them, but you will have a wait! Especially on weekend 2.Small-there were people sitting on the floor, standing in corners. Literally shoulder to shoulder 3.Flustered Range officers-they are not unfriendly, just a lil overwhelmed by the amount of people and trying to keep up with everything going on. I guess I would be too if 30 people carrying rifles and pistols came walking through the door all at once 4. Price-seemed expensive to me. I shared a lane & gun plus ammo with my two sisters for 30 minutes and it came to $88! Today is July 31, 2021. I was at Shooters Express in Belmont, NC @ 10:45 this AM. I went into the shop and there were two sales people behind the counter and ZERO other customers besides myself. I went in the store to buy a pocket pistol to conceal carry. I looked over the guns in the counter twice and even some other guns in displays on the floor. What struck me is that the two employes behind the counter were totally engaged in a conversation about one of their friends and his girlfriend upcoming trip to Paris and totally ignored the only customer in the store. This is our shooting range of choice, maybe due to proximity, but overall it's a good place to shoot. Ended up buying a year pass to the range which seemed like a reasonable rate especially if you plan to shoot several times a month and don't own a gun. Membership allows you to choose from the various guns to try out. Only had a problem with one getting jammed on me one time, otherwise, they are in good shape. Tape your targets up and send them down range. The safety video is a little old, looks like it was shot just after the Civil War, but everyone is required to watch it their first time out. Best advice is to always keep the gun pointed down range and never point at something/someone you don't want shot. Haven't spent much time in their gun shop, so can't comment on the service or prices there. However, they'll take care of you at the range. read more

We (Europeans) went here to try some guns and rifles. We signed for a one month range membership für $50 which included a free choice of the rental semi-automatics (about 25 different or something), security glasses, earplugs and the range time! All we had to pay were the ammo (about $18 for 50 bullets) and the targets ($1 oder $2 or something). Full automatic like the MP5 came with additional $35. But it was worth it ;-) The staff was very nice and took its time to answer als (handling) questions! Only star deduction is for the circumstance, that the ranges are very old. I have no other ranges to compare this to but my experience for the pro shop and range has been decent. Pro shop is priced a tad bit above your chain retail stores BUT you get deals such as a free basic handling class that includes shooting time and a 30 day range pass. I thought the staff I dealt with was courteous and went above and beyond to answer all questions I had (and talk to my very talkative grandfather too!) now...on to the range! If it's winter, and you're cold natured, dress warm!! It's freezing when it's cold! Lanes are OK and there are fees if you bring your own ammo but it's all laid out on the website. Everyone I dealt with working on the range side was good too. Now, could things be better on all sides and aspects? Yes. But average for me. read more

I have used the range at Shooters before but never bought anything in their Pro Shop until last week. This review will cover both the range and the shop. The Shop: For the last year or so, I have been getting updates from Shooters on my Facebook page and usually they are for something I neither want or need. I have noticed their prices are pretty good. Compared to Hyatt's advertised prices, Shooters is quite a bit cheaper. Last week it finally happened. Shooters posted a deal that was too good to pass up so I stopped by "just to look" and went home with a new Sig. The staff was really great, nice, helpful, informative and seemed to know a lot about their inventory, which is as it should be of course. I was doing some comparisons and they knew all the points and answers to the questions I was asking. Special recognition goes to Dean and T.J. Ammo availability is about the same as it is everywhere and there is a limit on how much you can buy. The price is sky high but again, that is the norm everywhere and this too shall pass. I wouldn't hesitate to send my daughter in there to buy a gun. The Range: Once the gun was mine, I needed to get some trigger time so today I was finally able to hit the range at Shooters for an hour or so. Please note, it didn't cost me anything since they give you a free hour of range time with the purchase of a gun and I bring my own safety gear and ammo. The range is small. the desk allows for only a couple of people and that was not a problem for me since there were only 1 or 2 others there when I arrived. The guy at the desk is nice and funny. When I left there were people waiting and it seemed to have filled up fast. Some were watching the mandatory safety video, others just cooling their heels waiting for a lane. My advice, go during the day on a weekday between 10:00 and 3:00 and you will sail right in. Nice selection of rental guns, you can even rent a machine gun. Be advised that you have to buy their ammo if you shoot their gun, but that is pretty much standard practice. They seem pretty laid back and not in your face, but they may get more "alert" during their busier times. I'm looking forward to taking one of their classes and considering a membership. I was worried when I saw some of the reviews but we (my son and I) had a pleasant if not cold time. They couldn't turn off the blower, which was indeed too much right on us. With the weather, around 35deg it was very chilly. The staff was friendly (at worst, curt - but expected in this environment... never rude!). We shot quite a few guns (1 pistol, 2 revolvers, a rifle and a fully automatic PDW [UMP-40].). You do have to buy a box of ammo at a time, but you can use them in different guns (membership grants free use). Sure, the range is small and could use updating but to fire an automatic, there's little competition. read more
