So pleasantly surprised. My wife and I live in Raleigh, NC and needed immediate inspection of the…read morefloor, sub-floor and joist system. Residential Contractor assistance in the current Raleigh building boom is suspect, at best so, honestly, I was still suspect. Tar Heel Basement scheduled me, but I'd called back needing next day inspection in attempt to fix a tile issue. No problem, they'd said.. so they sent someone from their other operation to support me. Me! Thank you Tar Heel Basement Systems, for focusing on the customer and building a capable brand. Tar Heel Basement Systems representative met me onsite and we reviewed the area. He not only looked at the area in that part of the house, but advised me on my crawlspace and the other floors in the house. I could not have been more impressed. In the end, the gentleman said, "Sir, you're in good shape here, you have a clean bill-of-health". Perfectly done - Thanks Tar Heel, for your professionalism and swift support. Had this been my own General Contractor, or one of the many subs... well, I have no doubt that I would have instead been quoted a large-sum. Thank you, Tar Heel Basement Systems. Professional. Realistic. Honest. Ethical.

I will never recommend Cornerstone, especially if you want the work done right the first time. We…read morecontracted with Dale to waterproof our front porch, with work "finished" in June 2026. Our contract involved Cornerstone putting a 3 part waterproofing material onto the top of porch. During the project we learned that Dale would be using a 2-part process because the 3-part was no longer offered by the manufacturer. We later learned after talking with the manufacturer that what Dale told us was not true and they (the manufacturer) did indeed still make a 3-part process. Red flag #1. A primer needed to be applied between the base and top coats. The type of primer that was applied is time sensitive, so the top coat needed to be applied completely within 1-2 hrs of the primer being put on. One person applied the materials over the course of roughly an 8-hour day. Upon completion, the top looked glossy/wet and the perimeter of the porch was heavily sanded. We were told it was curing, we could brush the sand off the edges after 2-3 days, walk on it within a week, and it would be fully cured in 3 weeks. By days 2-3, the "wet" glossy look in the middle and matte look were still apparent, we started to brush off the sand as instructed only to find differences in color (it looked like someone didn't go over the outer edges- maybe the guy doing it got tired), and within a few weeks we started noticing the primer bleeding through the top coat (because it wasn't applied correctly). Red flag #2. A UV coat as initially discussed was never applied. Red flag #3. We reached out to Dale multiple times only to get responses that he thought it looked great and "he did what he said he was going to do." Dale failed to do what he said he would contractually do, failed to adjust the price even though the process and materials were different, failed to fix the application when it turned out the way it did, and has failed to refund us the thousands of dollars we paid for this job. This is not what "fixing it right the first time" looks like to us.

Always willing to take a moment and explain all the steps they were taking to protect our home. The were also very friendly to our kids who were excited for the big hole. Nonetheless, our contact person Madeleine and her crew came out to assess our foundation and cracks and some mold from the humidity in the crawlspace. In the end we went with mold remediation, a sump pump, new vapor barrier, joist lifts, and air sealing to keep out the creepy crawlies. Big ticket expense, but when compared to the competition, we went with them because of the thoroughness with the estimate interview and the willingness to answer all of our questions, they were also well-spoken of on other review sites including a popular large community message board, and the price was pretty comparable. Also, the crew was very good. My only ding would be was not putting the items in the crawlspace back in the order that it was originally, which saved space. But to add to their credit, we have one additional project that needs to be done outside of Little Corner's scope and the new company took a look at Little Corner's work and said "They did a very good job, this is how we would have done it." I think that speaks well of them as a whole. They may not be the biggest company, but they are professional, kind, and diligent about their work. Thank you, Madeleine and crew.
