I transferred into Savannah Birthing Center in my third trimester after moving across the country…read more I had done a lot of research on holistic providers in the area and was really excited to become a patient here. At my first prenatal appointment, I sat in the waiting room as my midwife complained loudly to the receptionist that I had not completed any of my intake forms and it would set her behind for the day. It was absolutely humiliating to listen to a medical professional complain to their team about me. Upon discovering that my name was spelled wrong and they were sent to the wrong email, she did not apologize or acknowledge that it was not my fault that these forms hadn't been completed. At the beginning of the same appointment, I explained that I had a history of disordered eating and was not comfortable being weighed. I had not been weighed in 3+ years, therefore I had no pre-pregnancy weight to compare my current weight to. The midwife said she HAD to weigh me, but would hide my weight. After she weighed me, she promptly turned the computer screen towards me so I could see my weight. Devastating. This entire appointment start to finish was horrible. I got only a handful of words in the entire time. She talked endlessly about how overwhelmed she was about their new charting system and opened a can of soda halfway through my appointment. It felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. I ultimately left the practice when the midwife received extremely sensitive test results I had been waiting on and did not update me about them for over a week. I called and emailed several days in a row and was dismissed. When she finally emailed me to let me know the outcome of the test results, she noted that I had access to the same test results and could read them myself, as if I am a qualified medical professional and could have possibly understood what they meant or how to interpret the implications of the results. I would not return to Savannah Birth Center at any point. I have not had such an uncomfortable and unprofessional appointment in my entire pregnancy and would not return to a practice where such little regard was held for my health and my baby's health.

I'm conflicted on writing this review…read more If you are exploring RE's in the Savannah area, please don't go on my review only- ask around, look at other review sites. After 3 yrs of secondary infertility in November of 2014, my PCM referred me to Dr. Blohm's office. It was March before there was an open consultation appointment. When we met with him, it almost seemed that he believed we didn't have an issue- despite us trying to conceive for 3 yrs (Minus a 9 month deployment) and one miscarriage. He said he thought if we left things alone for 6-12 months I'd end up pregnant. I didn't think so, so we went ahead and made another appointment. Well sure enough, that very cycle I ended up pregnant- but in similar fashion to my previous pregnancy, I didn't make it past 6 wks. So they we had to take a month off to give my body a chance to heal. When that month was over, we called to make an HSG appointment- well they were all full when it was possible to do it- so there was another 2 months of waiting. Finally got the HSG done in June. It hurt like hell, way more than it's suppose to but I wasn't given any answer to why- just that it was clear- which he hurriedly told me while I was still trying to compose myself. Due to a vacation in July and the husband having field training part of August and Sept, we weren't able to do an injectable cycle until October (almost a year from the original referral). We are unexplained infertility and beyond a sperm analysis and HSG. When I ask about egg reserve he just kept muttering "I have what I need, I have what I need, I have what I need". Well I wasn't asking him if he had what HE needed, I wanted to know if I have what I need to continue this journey a couple more years or should I start looking into more serious measures. He also argued with me about when my last miscarriage had been- what a slap in the face, especially since I'd been under his office's care at the time and had to go get blood drawn multiple times to ensure my levels were dropping properly. He has zero bedside manner- and I'm fine with that. I'm not the most personable person myself. Blohm is good at what he does IF he knows your issues. But if you're unexplained- he doesn't care to dig deeper to see what's going on- I never had any tests run beyond estradiol and progesterone. Given the issues Thyroid and Vitamin D, among other things play in the role of fertility, one would think he would tests for those- but nope! He also informed us at the first appoint an IUI would be covered by my insurance- then after getting our hopes up, we found out no, it actually wasn't. My one round of injectables had less than a 2% chance of ending in a live baby. With those odds, I was just not comfortable continuing to pay for and inject drugs into my body. So if you have PCOS and just need help ovulating, or know you need IVF, he's great. But if you're a mystery-find someone else.

During my treatment, I underwent multiple ovulation induction cycles and IUIs that were ultimately unsuccessful. My concerns are not simply based on the fact that I did not achieve a successful pregnancy. Fertility treatment comes with no guarantees, and I understand that. What led me to write this review was seeking multiple additional opinions afterward and realizing that a much more thorough diagnostic evaluation could have been performed earlier. Throughout my care, I was consistently treated under the assumption that my fertility challenges were related to PCOS. However, despite my history of recurrent pregnancy loss, I did not receive a comprehensive workup. After consulting with other specialists, I was eventually diagnosed with a uterine anomaly that had not been identified during my treatment. Looking back, I feel important diagnostic opportunities were missed, which delayed both answers and appropriate treatment. One aspect of my treatment that I found concerning in hindsight is that my primary challenge before seeking fertility care was not becoming pregnant--it was maintaining a pregnancy. Prior to treatment, I had experienced recurrent miscarriages, which demonstrated that conception itself was possible. However, during my time under Dr. Cox's care, I never became pregnant despite multiple treatment cycles. While I understand there are no guarantees in fertility medicine, this raised additional questions for me about whether the treatment approach was appropriately tailored to my specific history and whether more attention should have been given to identifying the underlying cause of my pregnancy losses. I would also encourage anyone considering fertility treatment to carefully evaluate the structure of the practice they choose. One thing I did not fully appreciate at the time was the potential limitations of working with a single-physician clinic. Fertility treatment is highly time-sensitive, and there are often narrow windows for testing, procedures, and follow-up care. In my experience, having access to multiple physicians can provide greater availability, additional clinical perspectives, and more flexibility when timing is critical. Another aspect of my experience that continues to bother me is the financial and emotional toll of treatment. As a self-pay patient, I spent thousands of dollars on appointments, monitoring, medications, and procedures from January through August 2023. Fertility treatment is emotionally exhausting on its own, but it became increasingly difficult to continue investing significant time, money, and hope into treatment without receiving a more comprehensive evaluation of the underlying cause of my recurrent miscarriages. Looking back, I sometimes felt that treatment continued for months without enough consideration of whether additional diagnostic testing should have been pursued sooner. The financial burden was substantial, and the uncertainty surrounding my care had a significant impact on my mental health. I am sharing my experience because I believe patients deserve a thorough investigation of potential underlying causes, especially when dealing with recurrent pregnancy loss. While others may have had positive experiences, I wish I had sought additional opinions sooner and had a more comprehensive diagnostic workup before spending so much time, money, and emotional energy at Adore Fertility.

Ultimately, I wasn't even able to proceed with my egg freezing cycle due to multiple administrative and communication errors on their end. Despite this, Adore had previously told me that my insurance would cover none of the procedure--and they still declined to refund my $1,000 deposit, even though the retrieval never took place because of their mistakes. In contrast, Coastal Fertility provided a far more seamless and transparent experience. Not only was their team significantly more organized and communicative, but they were also able to work with my insurance to reduce the cost of my retrieval from $7,000 to just $1,200, something Adore had told me wasn't possible. I came to Adore via a recommendation, and had a very open heart and open mind and tried to be very accommodating of their mishaps, but for them to ultimately still refuse to even refund my deposit to me was the last straw and made me feel compelled to tell people to venture into this very personal and very emotional experience elsewhere.
