Employees were friendly and very helpful to the point at the checkout the sacker spoke up about a special price on 3 boxes of Chex cereal as my mother in law was making the second batch of Chex Mix. Everything we needed was there - though she was looking for Chocolate Orange and they didn't have any. So close to Christmas the place was packed though and it was difficult to navigate. Given how much snowfall there was the parking lot was in need of another scraping. And also given how far north it is and the amount of snow St Ignace receives I think they should have a longer entry area to make sure snow covered boots can be shed of the snow instead of making the whole store's floor slick and wet as you walk and it melts off.

What a nice, clean and organized store with pleasant "local" employees working. I noticed while looking for the snack isle that everyone knows someone in here (except me lol). It does not totally compare in size to my local Kroger or Meijer, yet Ken's Village Market is sufficient enough to satisfy customers looking for many foods, cereals, bakery, deli and other items on a weekly or weekend shopping basis. While power walking to shop I noticed a nice deli, bakery and weekly sale items in the main area. A familiar brand from my Value Center store back home that was sold which caught my eye. The old name "Spartan" Brand which is now called "Our Family" was displayed in the center area with canned fruit and vegetables on sale. ( see photo). Too bad I wasn't shopping with a list to grab a dozen. I saw a pharmacy counter for the local residents which is necessity here in this town. I also saw a shopper in a electric scooter so that is helpful for the handicap. I found the snack isle with many well known name brands as well as "Family= Spartan." My favorite "Snyder Pretzels" was on sale 2/$4.00 so I grabbed 2 different styles: Rods and Mini and also one regular bag (Blue) of Chex Mix. The liquor or booze shelves are directly across from the snacks, so how convenient and perfect is that idea for all party and munchie animals. :) When checking out, this store has a "U-Scan" area so I was paying without waiting in line. My snack shopping experience was successfully completed in a total of 15 minutes. Ken's Village Market is a bookmark when in this small town. Their store hours are: Monday thru Saturday 8 am to 9 pm and also Sundays 10 am to 5 pm. P.S. When exiting the parking lot I saw a resident shopper saving gas by riding his unicycle to this store. There actually is another Doud's down Main Street toward the ferry area, but it's a smaller grab-and-go convenience store, mostly with snacks and coffee. My hotel was right across the street, so I bopped into Doud's a couple of times during my stay, to grab a bottle of wine (they have a decent selection of wine), some candy for my kids, and some fruit because I needed to eat something fresh. The store is tidy and everything is arranged nicely. They also have self-checkout kiosks, so you can get in and out quickly.
