Craig has the perfect demeanor for a funeral director. He is not only respectful and dignified, but also warm, kind, and compassionate. The way he handled every detail made us feel truly cared for - we didn't have to worry about anything. He gave us the information we needed at the exact moment we needed it - where to stand, where to walk, what to do, and what to expect. He even gestured silently to us in the church so that we knew all we had to do was look at him and he was right there to guide us. We know that this is what funeral directors do, but not all of them are as attentive. Craig guided us through our most difficult family time so carefully and thoughtfully that all the details fell perfectly into place. We were also impressed with the clear communication that transpired before, during, and after the entire process. Whenever we called (which was often), we received timely responses. He answered all of our questions - including ones that some consider 'taboo' to be curious about. She did an amazing job with both, so when my mother-in-law was placed on hospice in March, we called and asked specifically for her. From start to finish, Nicole began taking care of business and always made herself available, even on her days off. We wanted to place the obituary in the local paper, but it needed to be in quickly. My husbands aunt and I were trying to write it together by collaborating over the phone as we live in different states. We needed to make the deadline by 12:00 pm and we just made it but since we rushed there were many error's that we noticed after. I frantically got ahold of Nicole and without missing a beat she corrected the article right in time for the printed version. We were originally told that they couldn't guarantee an open casket, as we were waiting 2 weeks after she passed to have the funeral so that my son could come home on military leave for it. But Nicole made it happen. She even touched up my mother in laws regrowth, and colored her brown roots to blond. The services went very smoothly and Nicole organized the whole event with ease. Our family and friends were very pleased with the results. I realize that writing a review for a funeral director is not as glamorized as a review for a vacation, but it is something that all of us will have to face someday for not only ourselves but the loved ones on our life. I had a negative experience when we buried my father in law, with another funeral company. I can only say that this experience is etched in my memory that even exceeds the loss of my father in law. Having a kind, patient, caring, thoughtful person taking care of everything after your loved one has passed makes the experience much more bareable. John, Roberta and the entire staff were attentive, thorough and responsive. My mother's funeral occurred in 3 states which is not simple, and John had to coordinate with another funeral home. The administrator of the funeral home in Maine that we worked with went out of their way to tell me that John had been a pleasure to work with which was unexpected, but not surprising. The facility in Cumberland is beautiful with a unique image projection system and piano on site for use in the service, and John has resources for everything we needed. We are very grateful.
