Consultation - we met and went over all of the details and Jeffrey provided warm and comforting support when walking us through every detail of the cremation and memorial process for my mother. He left to go on vacation and then started working with Justine, and she provided the same level of great service and care as Jeffrey did. The options for all of the arrangements were robust and had no problem with choosing the best items for the service. The value was worth my weight in gold. Coordination - The communication was top notch and offered through different channels (text message, emails and phone calls). Every detail of the service was personally handled by Justine and Jeffrey and they were so flexible in making any changes or edits for the services. Service -The day of the service everything went extremely well. When I walked in, I was greeted and then also given a moment to react to the beautiful screen with my mother's picture to welcome guests in. They streamed the service and it was clear with no issues. The flower arrangements and personal items helped to bring to life who my mother was and really appreciate their attention to detail and for listening. It touched my heart so deeply and couldn't have asked for anything better or more, down to the blanket with pictures of my mother, and thank you cards that was provided as well. Support - the support throughout this entire hardship for me was wrapped in love, compassion, and professionalism by this staff. The assistance that was provided during the service was seamless and timely. I highly recommend JJ Duffy's funeral home because they truly respect their work, their customers, and providing the departed with a homecoming that can be remembered for years to come. So sad to be here - but large parking, one way traffic in the building, line moved efficiently and everything was beautiful.

Although sad that I have been to so many wakes and funerals here at J J Duffy, I guess it says a lot about them that I have been to so many wakes and funerals here. The building itself is very well kept. The parkig lot is large. They have several private viewing rooms. A staff member is there at the door to open both upon entry, and exit. Once inside, another staff member is there pointing you in the direction of the appropriate room. At this last 'celebration life' we attended, we were the only ongoing event (a good thing I would say all things considered) and he was handing out booklets of the deceased with family photos and the obituary. For those who keep such things, a very nice, high quality memento. There was a guest sign in book (as is usual) before entering the room. This particular family had a large turn out to celebrat the life of their deceased loved one. Along side the flower arrangements sent to the family, they had on display personal momento's from the deceased. Items that were a clear indication of how much that person had clearly enjoyed their life, and what type of life they led. It was very much a celebration of the life they had lived. After the receiving line which included siblings, children, nieces and nephews, there was another area of personal items and photos. In all, the event took up the space of two rooms with plenty of seats set out for the ceremony. The rooms have retractable walls that allow the space to be extended as needed while still buffering sound should there be more than one event happening at a time. There was a podium set up for the ceremony officient and a sound system so everyone could hear. Figuring out where to hold a funeral is a terribly stressful event. J J Duffy does a very professinal job and clearly are able to accommodate a families desire to allow the display of personal items reflective of their loved one for all to remember and enjoy. read more

Our mom recently passed away and they were immensely easy to work with from the call I made in the middle of the night to helping with the arrangements, all the while treating our mother with dignity. During such a difficult time JJ Duffy's truly took the time to make the entire experience one we will never forget. Walking into the funeral home my husband and I were emotional as we just lost one of the most incredible men in our family, my Father In Law. Planning the services after such a tragic event was one of the toughest things we would ever have to do. We sat down with the owners who cheerfully asked about my Father In Law and brought stories out of us that allowed them to create the "Celebration of his life" event. I have to say this funeral home doesn't just create a "wake" they create a personal experience where all guests walking through the room knew my Father In Law by just looking through the slide show they made and looking at every single detail they put into it. This funeral home came up with these details on their own to allow for this amazing unique experience. My Father In Law loves truck driving, yard work, patriots games, spring flowers, gardening, and the love for his family and friends. Looking at the pictures you can see JJ Duffy's went above and beyond to ensure our experience was one we could celebrate and not just mourn. This place isn't reputable. My family member had a pre-paid funeral arrangement with Duffy for years before death. They embellished the policy to include things that were not ordered to spend the remaining monies that were to go back to the estate, so that nothing went back to the estate. The funeral service was to be a simple one, as stated on the policy. The family was stunned. Complaints were made to the state, but nothing was done to rectify it. I wouldn't trust this business if my death depended on it. They are grave robbers! If you have a pre-paid policy, make sure they don't embellish it upon your demise. I didn't want to give them ANY stars! Negative is in order! read more

With the recent passing of my dad, it was a very difficult time and I wanted to be sure to honor him as he deserved. Add in the complexity of him passing away in Texas and having to have two funeral homes correspond perfectly in order to get the travel to RI and services just right and it seemed like an insurmountable task. We recently lost a loved one and had the emotional task of planning his services.  We had heard nothing but good things about J.J. Duffy, and decided to call them, they were prompt to respond and set up a meeting immediately.  At a time when grief was taking over, they were unbelievably helpful and responsive to all our questions and requests.  At the meeting Jeff made a point to make us feel welcome and ask questions about our loved one to get a feel for him and it felt nice knowing he wanted to know who he was.  We left a little less overwhelmed and with checklists to follow to know everything would fall into place for a proper service.  The next few days were difficult and little questions would come up about the coalition, or pictures, or timing and every time we would send a question we were met with an instant response.  We were as prepared as could be, but what blew us away was all the small details and personal touches that they took the time to put together to make it absolutely beautiful and feel like the extremely special life celebration our loved one deserved.  The personalized sign in book, multiple different prayer cards, obituary booklet, decor from his favorite things & music playing that he would have loved.  There were so many little touches that made the day very special and we all enjoyed going through the memory cards later and reading what people had to say. read more

This was by far the worst experience! My mother passed away, the police called this funeral home and was told they would be here in a half hour. Almost 2 hours later, they showed up. We were having her cremated and they wanted us to bring clothes after we went and filled out the paper work. We said we would be right back, so maybe 15 minuets later, they were gone and when called said "had to step out, be right there". Another 20 or more minuets went by before he came. We paid the whole bill at that time. We were to pick up the ashes and death certificate Monday at 11am. We get there, and the janitor put us in a waiting room because the owner was now with someone else. He eventually came out and said he would get his dad to take care of us. Instead he walked in with the "box" in a shopping bag and preceded to tell us they made a mistake on the death certificate, so we could not get it until the end of the day. We look at the box of ashes and the plaque was not on it, so the father came and took it to put it on, and in the meantime he came back with a bill saying it is not paid! Are you kidding me? Put a paper on the box and gave it back to us in the shopping bag..I took the box out and threw the bag back. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Very unprofessional!! read more
