I went to Carpets by Otto(Angola Road, Toledo) based on the recommendation of a friend. I believe the front counter guy's name was Craig. He was extremely helpful in assisting me to choose the best pad and carpet for my needs. I chose a carpet and pad, then arranged for delivery and installation. There was about a two week wait from ordering my carpet to the carpet being delivered to the store. At that time, I arranged installation. They allowed me to stretch the installation over two non-consecutive days so I could get my furniture and other possessions moved and out of the way. There were two separate installation crews and both were friendly and efficient. It was raining both days and both crews took great pains to not track in any mud while they were in and out of my house. Both crews did an excellent and efficient job on the installation and were on their way much quicker than I imagined they would be. The carpet looks fantastic and feels good under my feet. I definitely would recommend Carpets by Otto on Angola Road in Toledo, Ohio. You can buy carpet elsewhere, but if you buy carpet from a specialist, you're getting a level of expertise you might not get elsewhere. read more

Had 2 rooms of carpet installed on 2 different days and both sets of installers were pigs! One didn't bring a vac because it had broke week before. They were going to put new pad over dirty dusty floor but we had them use OUR wet vac to clean!! Do not recommend! Use Modern floors I heard they do a much neater and cleaner install! read more

Wouldn't shop here again. I borrowed two linoleum samples from them and the piece of paper I signed showed two. We also borrowed two from another store down the street. After a week, I thought I borrowed 3 pieces fro them so I took all 4 in for them to decide. My mistake, but I thought the piece of paper I signed was in my wallet but it wasn't. I figured they could pull their copy and we'd be all set. Wrong!I put the two on the counter that I knew 1000% were theirs. The employee looked at them and took one but said the other wasn't theirs because it was too new and they don't carry that sample. I disagreed and tried to convince him it was theirs but he insisted it wasn't. He said he couldn't verify it because the person who wrote up the sample scans his paperwork into his computer and wasn't there. I said fine. I then proceeded to tell him that I thought one of the other two were theirs. He grabbed both and said he knows for sure that both were theirs. I then said I know only one is. He wouldn't give them back so they kept one that wasn't theirs. I told him that was fine and that I would return Monday with my receipt. He said ok. I go back Monday with my receipt and the one sample that he insisted wasn't Otto's. I was now dealing with a third employee and he took one look at the sample and said it was in fact theirs. I told him I new it was but they other guy on Friday insisted it wasn't. It was also written on the receipt I brought. So.....they have employees there that don't even know what they sell. I then asked for the other two samples back because as the receipt shows, I did only borrow two from them. He found then but said I couldn't have them because they belonged to Otto's. I said, no, none do because they aren't even written on the receipt! His response was that they guy must have forgot to write them on the receipt with the other two! Oh my gosh, now we have incompetent people working there that not only don't remember what they gave me (even though it was written on the receipt) but they say they forgot to write them down! I told him I know they both belong to someone down the street. He refused to give them back!!! I was told that if these were another stores, that he would have his sample there and he doesn't. He didn't even look at the large, unorganized pile under the table and the large, unorganized pile behind him to know if his sample was there or not! I asked if his sample could have been borrowed by someone and he said no because he is aware of all the samples that are checked out. Are you kidding me !!! Yes folks, Carpets by Otto is hurting so bad that they kept samples from another store. So to even things up, I took the sample back that I know is theirs and the guy confirmed was theirs(but one guy said wasn't theirs) and I walked out stating that they can have their sample back when they give me the other two that don't belong to them. What good is a receipt from these incompetent people when they take MORE back than what is written on the receipt and claim their employee must have forgotten to write them down. I did go down to the other store and they confirmed I took two from them also and those were the two Carpets by Otto kept. Don't trust these guys at all if this is how they operate. read more

I spent $3500.00 doing my whole house and I have several areas where the seams are showing. They came out to fix it and it still looks like it did . Called them again and they came out , looked at it and told me that I signed a paper that said they didn't guarantee seams. Have never heard back from them! If this is the kind of experience you what for your money I highly recommend them! read more

Let me first start out by saying I used the company 6 years ago and was very happy with the whole process, but this time was not the case. Carpet was to be delivered between 12-2 on Monday and they did not show up til after 4 pm. During the removal of the carpet the installers took multiple smoke breaks, used the bathroom, charged their phones in my outlets, left trash in my window sill, and asked for cold beverages. It was then discovered that the carpet was not long enough for the family room, but they had enough padding. Error or not, mistakes happen. It is arranged then that they will be back tomorrow between 12-1 to correct. While all of this is going on the stairs and hallway was not completed due to they were busy smoking and will be fixed tomorrow. It was also suggested that I leave my home unlocked so they can "help themselves" tomorrow. Absolutely not, so I rearrange my schedule and take off work again to make it home in time. At 230 still nothing, so i call and speak to the instillation manager who says they are on the way. At this time I also bring up my concerns from the day before and he states "they shouldnt do that," no apology. At 3pm i get another phone call saying he is on second job and will be there in about 30-45 min (although earlier today i was told this second job was cancelled). At 430 there is still no one here, so I call again. The installers were unable to be reached. At 5pm they finally show up. I made a joke about how nice it was that they finally showed up. The carpet installer then proceeded to go off on me for a good five minutes which is totally unacceptable. They then told me that in order to cap my stairs the way i ordered them he would have to remove all of the wood off my steps...never heard of this before, and neither has anyone else So I had to have them waterfall - which ironically is much easier and quicker to do. After all this I called the store again and spoke to salesman and no manager available. The next day at 1pm I was called with response, and not by the manager. There is a huge lack of communication and customer service at this business and i would not recommend them to anyone!! And the icing on the cake I got to sweep up after their mess. read more
