Carquest Corporation is an American automotive parts distribution network that is owned and operated by Advance Auto Parts with 1,350 independently-owned Carquest branded. Carquest Auto Parts is a leading automotive aftermarket parts provider that serves both professional installer and do-it-yourself customers. O. Temple Sloan, owner of General Parts Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina, founded Carquest by merging with two other companies. In 1974 the three auto parts companies joined together in response to competition from high-volume retail stores to make sure customers get The Right Part at the Right Time™ for a fair price. The introduction of the Carquest product line was a major success in providing quality products for the economical buyer or those looking for hard-to-find parts. On October 16, 2013, Advance Auto Parts acquired General Parts International, Inc., and became the largest automotive aftermarket parts provider in North America.
