We only had one night in Las Palmas before going on our cruise, but we made good use of it by doing what we always do when we visit a new city: go to a local grocery store! This one is SPRAWLING, more like a department store with a large grocery section. When we saw all the prepared foods that they had available, along with a giant selection of wine, we just thought we'd forego dining out, and make good use of the microwave at the lovely ABnB we were using. And some of our choices were of very good quality, rivalling, or perhaps better than, many a restaurant we've visited: that seafood rice made with squid ink was especially memorable. We also found interesting the system they had for produce - you need to go to a weighing station, punch in the code, weigh it, and get a ticket - just one reason we enjoy having our eyes open when we go to a new place! read more
