There are a lot of choices for accommodations we could have chosen in the area... We decided to do a bed/breakfast in Peterson for it's low key location and city. We chosed the Win's Inn and got the upper Suite for 2 beds. What a beautiful house. Everything was beautiful and you feel like go back in time of the 50/60s... The only problem we had on the first night was the AC were not working... The owner got it fixed the very next day. The host made us breakfast every morning - amazing host! There were major events in the town while we were there that weekend (not our intent)... There were parades, art/crafts, and night party on main street... I kid you not, we could not hear a thing all weekend in our rooms. Will definitely come back in the near future for the next quiet weekend.

The included breakfast is not your powder eggs and make your own waffles. They have real scrambled eggs, quiche, with these amazing sausage link. The owners are knowledgeable about what they are making, where it is coming from, and the way they grow and prepare the majority of the food they make! Retired to our room (Shepherd's Loft) with a very tasty bottle of wine, complimentary treats, and a movie. Our room was perfect for us, the smallest one I think, but plenty of room and a very nice bathroom. Even though the part of the house was built in the 20's, everything seemed new. Got wifi in our room. The bed and linens were super comfy. Breakfast was at a not-too-early 9:00am and was delicious. I was glad I didn't make lunch plans, we were barely hungry by dinner time. We got a fun little tour of the winery operations downstairs by Chris. We couldn't get the sheep or donkeys to come to the fence to be pet, but they are friendly. Sadly we had to head onto the next leg of our trip, otherwise we would have done some of the trails. Sherry and Chris were really nice, personable, and funny. We absolutely loved our short stay and plan to come back next year. Trains run alongside the river quite frequently, but didn't wake us up because the doors and windows must be new and well-sealed. The hosts let you come and go as you please, and are welcoming and willing to talk about the area and things to do there. Breakfast was AOK. While you're in the neighborhood, check out the bike trails (the local bike store, Blue Heron, has maps and sells trail passes). Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a good public beach (that we knew of), so we had to trespass to take a dip (oops!). Sullivan's Supper Club is within a mile of the B&B and worth a jaunt for dinner, but the Trempealeau Hotel is within shorter walking distance and is open late.
