Fresh fruits, vegetables from the farm! Options of meats, cheese and baked goods. They have lots to choose from!

This is a great Aldi. The location is fantastic for me (it is around a 8 minute walk each way);…read morethey do have a parking lot and you can generally find a space open there. Inside it is a standard Aldi but they do have the Aldi finds (the aisle of shame!) which you cannot find at every Aldi. My experience with their produce and meats has been very good; I have bought their hamburgers several times and found them to be excellent in quality. Checkout is pretty quick; there are no self-scan registers in this store (that would be nice) but I have never waited in line more than a few minutes. Given its location, the excellent prices, and that aisle of shame, I will be here often.

I also appreciate the fair return policy, if something is wrong they refund your money and also you can replace the item. They don't give you any grief if you need to return something like Giant Eagle. They have certainly expanded their selection and the quality has always been good. The only issue is that the items come and go just like Trader Joe's. I love the hummus chips that pop up every once in a while, but then they go away quickly. I have always loved the fact that they never use plastic bags, which is very sustainable. It is very good to have them in the neighborhood. Please note: if you park out in the front you will not be able to transport your groceries in a cart out to your car. The store is wired so that the cart gets locked up if you try to leave out of the front door. This can suck if the back parking lot is full.

It was held on the second floor of the convention center, in the back. Whenever I walked in I was surprised at how small it was with around 30 vendors or being there. While many vendors were giving out free samples, it was to get you to buy their product. It almost felt liking walking through the strip district on a Saturday. I also do not think that I really learned anything which was sad. The bottom line for me is that I would not head back here next year. Even though it only cost $15 for both of us, I felt that it was at least $11 more than it was worth.

Away from these vendors was my favorite part, a section where Community Kitchen Pittsburgh hosted "Project Lunch Tray". This project works with students from the Pittsburgh public schools to create a school lunch entry to propose to their schools. Not only are these young students taking part of their own health, they are learning about what makes it a healthy lunch. These lunches that the students create have to meet USDA guidelines and must be affordable for distribution to all students. Of course, it has to taste great too. Not an easy task! This was a competition among 8 schools, so I got to see these kids present their meals to judges and share their experiences. What a great project to inspire young students!
