Church Brew Works is amazing! The setting of an old church is so cool, but they have a super cute little patio that does not make you feel like you're at a church or Pittsburgh! The staff is so sweet and friendly which can totally make or break your experience. Handcrafted cocktails and beer made onsite! The food is super good- highly recommend the jalapeño popper dip- simple, spicy and delicious! The German Mac & Cheese was also a standout and tried the Steak Frites from their Patiofest menu! Can't wait to go back!

Nice and original place for beers. The beer selection is really good. The food is good (bar food). It is the perfect place for a brunch

Stopped in while setting up for NFL draft. Co worker found this spot so we gave it a shot. Not too far from hotel. We had a reservation but walked in about an hour early and were quickly accommodated by the friendly staff. The waiter came by and suggested us some favorites bc it was hard to choose off the menu with so many great selections. I ended up ordering the buffalo chicken saute pierogis and a Pilsner called celestial gold. Place is huge with bar seating if you feel like walking in. The Pilsner was smooth with a faint hint of hoppy. The pierogis were the best I've had and my family's polish. So soft and creamy texture on the inside with the lightest crisp on the out. Buffalo chicken was also not too overpowering. I'll be back in to try the 32 team nfl draft special!

I've visited 3 times so far and it's quickly becoming my favorite brewery! The food is consistently delicious, service is excellent and the beer is great! We celebrated St. Patrick's Day here after the parade and had a great experience. Can't wait to go back! The stained glass windows featuring various saints are beautiful. A hint (the names of the saints are in the windows).

A recycled church brewery. This brewery is more about the environment than the food and/or beer. The beer and food were OK. Super spacious. If I were the owners I would lean more into the church theme. All beers should have some kind of church/religious name. The merch needs to step up their game. The women's room could be much cooler in design. Overall it's a cool concept that seams dated and needs an update. I had the French onion soup. Lots of cheese and great. Nice flavor but the onions weren't cooled well enough. Also had the chorizo meatballs. Too spicy for my linking.

Church Brew Works is a wild concept! The church was beautiful and the space is huge! A bit more "commercial" than I thought vibe wise but still pretty cool. The beers and food were just okay. I'd probably come back for a happy hour and try a few different things but we'll see! Slight confusion when I got there because my GPS took me around back!

I was visiting Pittsburgh to attend the Kings/Pens game. (I am a Kings fan from LA). This was a place I researched and planned to visit before my plane landed. I was staying on the South Side. My partner in crime/hockey pal/drinking buddy walked from the South side to the Brew Works. It was uphill all the way. We passed Middle Hill, Polish Hill and Upper Hill. It was a great way to see the city, but man was I ready for a beer when we got there. The place is located inside a beautiful converted church from the 1800s. The building alone is a reason you should visit even if you don't drink beer. They have food. I had the traditional pierogies and found them to be delicious. I'd never had pierogies before, and these were a great first experience. They also offer non-traditional pierogies on the menu. For the beer, I had the Dunkel and the Pilzner, and both were outstanding. The brewery is also located near an abandoned Hershey's Chocolate plant with a huge smokestack. It is a symbol of Pittsburgh's past.

We just went for drinks after dinner elsewhere, so I can't comment on the food. The service was awesome, loved the bartender and generous samples. The selection is great as well and the decor is unique. I'd say the main thing I don't like is the darkness and perhaps the strange smell. It's cool for hanging out but it's not somewhere I'd frequent.

This place is so iconic, I wish I had one of these back home. Truly a beautiful space to enjoy dinner and a beer. I found Church Brew Works on Trip Advisor of all places. I'm glad I kept it on my bucket list because this was worth it. Parking was free and available right out front. We dined in without a reservation on a Saturday evening. It wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. Our server was Ryan and he was a blast! I liked his enthusiasm and how silly he was. He played a big part in us enjoying our experience here. I was torn on which beer to try, but I was in the mood for something pumpkin-y. Ryan suggested the Pumpkin Milk Stout. I'm typically not one to go for dark beers, but this was DELICIOUS. It had the perfect pumpkin taste and didn't feel heavy. For my meal, I ordered the Southwestern Salad, no protein added. I enjoyed it as is. A great amount of dressing is provided and it's loaded with fresh ingredients. Finally, Ryan talked us into getting dessert. He made us feel good about choosing the Peanut Butter Mousse. It was heavenly. It tasted like Reese's peanut butter cup filling but smooth and creamy. The crushed Oreos on top were a nice touch. We loved Church Brew Works so much we walked away with a few pieces of merchandise. I purchased a ball cap and my boyfriend bought a shirt and a pint glass. Highly recommend checking out if you're looking for a one of a kind brewery in Pittsburgh!

Really enjoyed some Pittsburgh fare here in a cool renovated old Church. Pierogies, arancini bites, and bacon mac and cheese were all delicious. Atmosphere is really fun and spacious; they repurposed the space really well and despite it seeming like it would echo conversation bleed is fairly minimal. Service and prices were great and we had no trouble getting a table for dinner walk in without a reservation

Absolutely excellent schnitzel, a dish I just don't get enough, followed by a delicious hot Oreo sundae. Very cool ambience as it's a church that was converted into a brew pub. Though weirdly the service was highlighted by the person who sat me whose name was Ted. The funniest host I've ever come across at a restaurant. Great stuff would go back!

I can only speak to the beer, since we didn't try the food and it was just okay. The real highlight of the stop was definitely the space itself, which is super unique and worth checking out. It was pretty busy when we arrived around 1 p.m. on a Saturday, but we found seats at the bar and were served right away. I did noticed there was a bit of a musty smell, which threw me off a little. Still it's a unique spot and worth a visit for the atmosphere alone.

Do they have non-beer options like cider?

There were ginger beer, ginger ale, juice, soda, coconut water, sparkling water, tea and coffee.

Are kids allowed to go in?

Yes! We brought our 3 year old with us and also saw other families with kids there!

    Can I bring my dog?

I really don't think so unless it's maybe a service animal. Best to call the restaurant with that question.

    Do they do growler fills?

    Yes, they do.

I need the kale salad back because it was better than the Chick-fil-A kale salad. They did however add the chicken Caesar wrap to the dinner menu which I have wanted on there for awhile. It was good but I don't think they should be charging $2 extra to have fried chicken instead of grilled. Also I think the wrap could have used more filling and chicken since I paid $2 extra for it! Did it taste good? Yes! But fill it up more please! I have a lot of empty tortilla at the end of each wrap.

My girl friends and I came after four years of me wanting to come here. I love Gravel Grinder and live close to an OTB so heard of Dancing Gnome from that. Finally made our way there and well, make sure you do not bring young kids. My friend had an 18 month old with us and as she was BUYING a beer from them, the guy who worked there asked if she "could keep the screaming to a minimum." An eighteen month old!!! And Mother's Day is tomorrow, nice. He said that they had to draw a line somewhere and he wasn't kidding. The 18 month old was not running around screaming crying all day. We were outside having the kids play and when my friend was buying a beer he got a bit fussy and was told to keep it to a minimum. Needless to say, we will NOT be coming back. If you have small children, I would not suggest this place. Super disappointing. I've always hyped their beer and place up and now I can't support it. We ended up going to Grist House and it was a WAY better vibe and WAY busier...I wonder why. I should have known when their sign said no dogs allowed.
