The free dental x-ray and cleanings are the best deal around! The appts do take a little longer at first since these are students learning how to do the best job. The Dr checks each step so you really are getting a good cleaning. My hygienist Bronwen was great! Fun personality and didn't hurt me at all. She explained everything I needed to know. This review is for the dental hygiene clinic, available to anyone needing dental care. Yes the pre visit paperwork is cumbersome (I think moving forward their new software system should make that smoother?)...& yes scheduling has been cumbersome... but I found the students & most importantly the supervising staff (dentists) to be very professional. I also appreciated that my X-rays & cleanings was very thorough. Although I've only been once, I look forward to future visits, knowing that my dental health will be in good hands. (I sought their care after being double billed by a local dentist, then having several horrifically painful & worse ineffective visits at another dental office.) So if you are between dentists, don't have adequate dental insurance, or just sick of unprofessional dental offices... perhaps consider helping the students here finish out their schooling. read more

the NCLEX REVIEW class sucks, you have to get a level 2 which is 70% to pass And graduate. it used to be lower but it got increased out of nowhere, making it harder to pass. It's not fair to students. besides a REVIEW class shouldn't be graded or determine if one graduates. It should be just that, a REVIEW Class! It feels like they're setting us up for failure. read more

( There is no way this campus should only have a 3 rating, that was my inspiration for this review, at least not for the LVN to RN program.)... Currently, I am enrolled in the LVN to RN bridge program. I moved to Boise from California; without a doubt, one of the best decisions I could have ever made! My instructors maintain mutual respect for our cohort, they treat students like " normal " students, unlike many other nursing programs. Unfortunately, the negative stigma within the realm of nursing, implied by the phrase "Nurses Eat Their Young" is often accurate, especially in California. Point being, that Carrington instructors (Boise Campus) should be seen as leaders. Raising the bar, the "gold standard" in which all other RN programs are modeled after. read more

A third of my cohort complained about a new teacher. He's never taught before. They had a group of teachers quit at the end of the term including the Dean. They kept the teacher that everyone complained about because they're desperate. Students have no input after they're asked for feedback as if they cared. Dental assisting is very expensive and they have very outdated equipment and lessons and not enough to go around. Classes are only 4 hrs 2 days a week because all this school want is money. This review is for the RN program. I chose this program because I could not get into a RN program in California or it was too expensive. PRICE: 23k including prerequisites LENGTH: 11 months. I started 9/2019, finished 8/2020. Pros: accelerated, affordable, Cons: -while all my classmates received their diplomas, I did not. I had to go back and forth asking for this. -i had issues with the board of nursing when transferring my RN license to CA, they were not willing to help me all the way. It seems they did not know how to fix this issue and left me hanging. -once i graduated and started applying for jobs, i needed a recommendation letter from the clinical coordinator. I e-mailed her, and she never replied. (So much for wanting your students to succeed) -our school IDs were made out of cheap paper whereas the previous class and class after us had actual id cards This program is divided into 3 semesters. Semester 1: Time: anywhere from 9-3pm 4 days a week. I went 2 days because I had already completed my prerequisites prior to starting this program Classes during this semester: Anatomy and physiology (in person) Microbiology (in person) Ob and pediatric nursing LPN-RN transition class Semester 2: Times: anywhere from 9-3pm 2-4 days a week plus 1 day for clinicals. Clinicals focused on assessments and careplans. Mostly paperwork all day. Classes during this semester: Med surg Pharmacology Also simlabs during this semester (Other prerequisites such as english, math, interpersonal communications, etc) are online classes divided into 3 semesters Semester 3: 3-4 days a week plus preceptorship. Preceptorship: (7) 12 hour shifts (At least that's what I had). This was once a week, some students had to go twice a week. Classes during this semester: med surg 2 and nclex review. If you're in california and are wondering if you should go..... JUST GO! I gave this school 2 stars because of my experience. Regardless, I finished and I am now an RN and it was all worth it. I found Carrington online while searching for hygiene schools throughout the country. I decided Carrington-Boise because of the 18mo program and location. The hygiene instructors are fantastic but admissions and financial departments... You have to twist arms to get them to do their jobs. Incredibly frustrating. I recommend seeking out a non-profit school for dental hygiene rather than Carrington. read more

UPDATE: Please know that I did contact them with the contact info provided in their response to my original review. It sounded like they wanted to make things right after my bad experience. They ignored that as well. So this college wants to look good...but not actually make good on their mistakes. An absolutely terrible experience. I signed up for a certificate program, and was told by the advisor that there were no prerequisite classes needed for the class. As I had not taken any before. Once I paid and was in the class, I realized that was so WRONG. It was way too advanced and fast paced to even consider being able to get through the course without having taken anatomy and medical terminology. Dropping the class was SO DIFFICULT...because the staff was so uninterested in calling me back or communicating with me when I sent the email to drop me from the class. I had to contact them several times, in several manners, and several different advisors to finally get a response. The advisors went from helpful to rude and cold in an instant. I was not told that I would be charged $245 for the books if I dropped the class, even though I had dropped within the time frame needed. Because I opened one of the book to complete the first week of the class, I was told I could not get a credit on the books. I packaged and sent them back anyways, because 2/3 of the books were still packaged, with a note explaining my situation. USPS tracking said it was delivered, and I never heard back so I assumed it was fine. Fast forward 8 months...now I'm getting bills in the mail again for those books! The book store is saying they never got them, and expected me to have kept a receipt for 8 months! I have contacted the financial dept, the book store, and the student advisor at the Boise location (who has not responded and likely will not since that seems to be the way they treat students there!). Apparently they plan on making me pay $245 for the books that I sent back by the date they needed them back, paid $30 to send back from my own pocket, didn't mark in or damage, and didn't even end up using because the student advisor LIED about the course not needing prerequisite courses. Absolutely not the college I would suggest to ANYONE in the area looking for a GOOD college experience! Very disappointed with their customer service, response times, and professionalism. read more

I have had an amazing experience so far. As I am half way through the RN bridge program. The staff is extremely helpful and seem to always be helpful. They ensure that we have the tools we need to succeed in the program. I have went to another Carrington Campus and did not have a great experience. I am grateful to have been able to attend the campus. I recommend this campus to many of my LVN friends that are looking to get into an RN program. Five star rating for sure!!! Terrible DA program one teacher is on it completely HE is there to help you learn and succeed in this program knowing you might have little to no experience with this career field he's there to help. Others in the program are only concerned about being liked by some but not all of her students doesn't care to be professional at all would rather sit and gossip like a child don't spend 14,000 to be ridiculed in a field that you're actually passionate about. No learning is being done and you might as well look into other DA programs because honestly it's cheaper and you will learn just as much if not more in other schools. I have only had positive experiences so far at Carrington. The teachers and the staff have all been supportive and helpful. I was fortunate to work with a great finance advisor who was knowledgeable and helpful with my financing. Overall I have gotten what I've expected from the program I am enrolled in, and haven't had any problems. School is hard, but you get what you put in. read more

I went to this school and it is THE worst of the worst. The staff, the program, the classes. Honestly they just want your money and won't speak to you unless you've paid. Terrible communication and unwilling to respond to questions. I had maybe 1 or 2 good teachers but overall they made me cry literally almost everyday. They are critical, mean, and pushy about it too. They very much favor certain students and will definitely show that. They won't assist you in clinic and will sit in the middle of the room and gossip the whole time. It's an aweful environment if you're falling behind even slightly a little. And don't even get me started on their finance department. I didn't know one single classmate that was happy about how they handled finances. It's taken me over 3 months to get a hold of somebody who will actually help me and they only responded once. They charged me for semesters I didn't attend. Hardly ANY of my credits transferred and I graduated another college already with my degree specifically with prerequisites, so I had to start all over. They don't tell you this, but you have to have a 75% or higher in any of your transferring credits or main core classes until after you've signed papers. And then once you're a senior you have to get a 90% or above to even pass. If you're considering coming to the school, I would NOT recommend it. Find somewhere else there loads of different schools. read more

They have made changes and since the new owners, as of January put Lee Varga in charge as Dean, it all went down hill. As the Dean, she is a bully and threatens students to kick them out for non compliance, when in truth, they are compliant. She just does not know how to use the brand new system that all students are expected to be pro's at, where all compliance are entered. I had all my requirements complete and uploaded. While at the ER with my daughter, Varga called threatening me to throw me out due to non compliance and that I cant keep expecting special treatment. When I pushed her, she actually did not know how to even pull up the information that was uploaded under the new system showing compliance. This is not the same Carrington. She also lied and said that every instructor said I was not attending classes and showing up late. Every class I sat front row and was first to sign attendance sheet. It is on record. Only class I missed was when daughter was in hospital which my instructor was aware of. I have multiple saved messages and recorded conversations with threats from her and bullying and manipulative threats. I used to tell everyone to go here. As long as these new owners are allowing this treatment of students, I would not spend a penny here!!!! There is a saying, "nurses eat their young". This should not be the environment for professional people wanting a safe environment to learn....especially spending $30,000.00 a year. read more

I had not attended school in 20 years and the curriculum coupled with the small class size made it easy for me to get right up to speed. My Pharmacy professor, Mr. Murray, took the extra time and had the patience to make my learning curve steep and accurate. I was able to maintain a 4.0 with relative ease, even in Math. That is a huge accomplishment! I got a job straight out of school and I am still in my chosen profession to this day. read more

I went to Carrington a year ago when it was formerly known as Apollo (Dental Assisting). First month went very smoothly. Soon after, our class quickly become aware that our current teacher was very incompetent, unable to answer questions clearly asked by the students and very unorganized with her curriculum. Lab was nice however, very small for our class size. Not only small, but something always seemed to have a glitch. As a whole, we were "miss informed" about numerous things involving our education which seemed to happen on a daily basis by the Director and Dean of the school. All in all, I would not re do my experience with this school at the price I paid. I do not believe they had the students best interest in mind but rather $$$. read more

I graduated from the Practical Nursing program at Carrington College, Portland campus in February 2010. After graduation and obtaining my license I accepted a rare opportunity at a job working in pediatrics for medically fragile children in Portland, Oregon. I also accepted a endearing position working for home visiting hospice care. Then I considered furthering my education and obtaining my associate degree in nursing. The RN bridge program in Boise, Idaho just requires 60 days of working experience as an LPN to apply for their program, but I worked full time in Portland as an LPN for a year before I decided to apply to the RN bridge program. Making the decision to move to Boise, ID for the Carrington College RN bridge program was the best decision I could have ever made in my life for my nursing career. The campus and nursing wing is amazing! The college staff supports my path to success and truly cares about my success. The instructors offer me tutoring to accommodate my schedule and the class sizes are smaller for a more hands on personal teaching environment. Career services has helped me obtain several job leads in the area that resulted in me getting hired in positions that will accommodate my school schedule. There is nothing more satisfying to me than getting my money's worth for my education in just 12 fast months at Carrington College, Boise campus. Carrington has prepared me for a world of opportunity in nursing!! There is no end to my personal success story with Carrington because my success as a student and success with my career just keeps growing and getting better all the time. I am scheduled to graduate in August 2012. Thank you Carrington College for giving me an education and a wonderful career in the nursing profession that I love. You have changed my life!!! read more
