The books are new-book prices so they are a bit expensive but just seeing the huge selection of books and the huge store is enough. Those that know me know I am a complete book girly. What asked what my pass time and hobbies are books are the answer to both. So when I saw this place I knew it was a must to head in and see what magic awaited. As i walked in I could see the great selection of books offered. They also had date with a book in which you only have a clue summary about the book that gives you a brief exiting blurb to catch your eye. Loved that they make reading fun! If you're in the mood for coffee or pastries there is a cafe located upstairs which is the perfect place to relax while reading a book. If you're in Dublin this is a must see! As we walked by, we saw a sign that said, "Secret Book & Record Store", with an arrow pointing into a deep narrow hallway with posters of advertisements covering the walls. These places are the great finds in Dublin. At the end of the hall was a large room filled with used books, vintage vinyl & new releases including CDs. The store was a frezy of customers flipping through the bins of vinyl to find that one great band from their past. I did find a few old 80s punk albums but still on a quest today to find an original GBH or Exploited cover.

As first meetings go, this one has a great vibe; reading the book of the month isn't necessary and visitors are welcome to sit in and stir the pot. Owner Bob's smooth chat encourages conversation and as it's a democracy the group decides the next month's book. Space fills quickly so be sure to email the shop to let them know you're on your way. Its location on Talbot is unusual because this street doesn't exactly scream literary crowd. I'd say that the majority of people who wander in are interested in the Playstation section because all the games are displayed in the front of the shop. Posters inside advertise that the shop takes in your old games in exchange for some of theirs. The shop has a similar scheme with the used books. All this swapping is very communist! It also offers you three books for the price of two which is a good deal considering that the average price of one book is 5 Euro. It doesn't just stock harlequins and murder mysteries either. There's a section of Irish fiction and a bookcase of top sellers. The DVD section is pretty weak so I'd stick to either book or game shopping.
