I needed my jacket and a pair of pants altered fairly quickly and Carrollwood Alterations came recommended by a family member. I dropped off my clothing and it was ready two days later right when they said it would and both pieces fit perfectly. The couple that run the shop were very friendly and it was a true "mom and pop" establishment. The prices were fair, but make sure that you have cash or a check for your payment as credit cards are not accepted here. The next time I need an alteration I won't think twice about going elsewhere. Carrollwood Alterations is AWESOME! I've taken everything from pants/capris to men's dress shirts to bridesmaid dresses and evening gowns to them and they turn out PERFECTLY! They're a quiet couple, very proud of their children and grandchildren, so you get the "support small business" feel :) Their prices are especially low for the quality you get, I love a good deal. Their turnover rate is typically one week, but I've had things rushed before (no charge, although, I'm not sure if there is usually one) and was able to get them 3 days later. Amazing doesn't describe the work she does here. I never got her name but she was able to shorten my coat and she even restitched everything on it to basically make it brand new in it's shape. The rain coat fits exactly how I wanted it and it was all done at the lowest price I have ever seen for alterations. Truly an amazing experience and I will be here soon. Need something altered fast? I went to Carrollwood Alterations for a last minute alteration and paid double the price for a job half done. My skirt needed to be taken in two sizes, but unfortunately it was only taken in one. Having no other choice I wore the skirt to my interview the next morning and later brought it in to Carrollwood Alterations to have it fixed. After pinning it the owner tried to charge me another $10 (on top of the $20 I gave her the day before). When I explained that it wasn't done right in the first place and that I refused to pay any more money, the owner said she "has to charge me." I am new in the area and picked Carrollwood Alterations based on positive reviews. Failing to stand by your work is the fastest way to lose my business. I have several suits and dresses that need alterations, but I will be taking my business and my money elsewhere. read more

I found a cute sundress for an upcoming trip but ALAS, the curse of being short! The neck and arm holes came a bit too low for me to be comfortable with and I popped into Carrollwood Alterations to have them take the top seams up by a half inch. I needed pretty quick turn around and indicated I would pay an extra fee if needed. They turned this quick fix around in a few days and I was happy with the price! I am always on the hunt for trustworthy and talented alterations places since half my clothes need to be altered in some way (again with the being short). I felt like the simple job I needed done on the sundress was a great "test case" and based on the workmanship - I'll be back in the future! read more

Went in to get a bridesmaid dress altered (straps crossed in the back and hemming ) at original visit when the dress was pinned and the straps were evaluated. I was quoted 90 dollars, I asked what the straps were alone (10 dollars). I was told before she did any hemming work she wanted me to come and try the dress back on to make sure the straps were okay. A week later I tried the dress back on and with the new straps I decided to go without the hemming. Then was told I would be charged 40 dollars. (10 for the straps and 30 for her time to pin it). Pretty upsetting especially since the rest of the bridal party got all of their dresses altered for 40 dollars all together. Was never told there was a 30 dollar pinning fee until after I decided to go without the 80 dollar hemming job. Will not return, or recommend anyone to this establishment again. read more

I brought a bridesmaids dress in to get altered and I was very pleased with the results. It is a little pricey (to me) - over $40 dollars to get a dress hemmed but she did a great job. Also, the turnaround time was quick also. I'll definitely return. read more
