Had a warranty issue and had the car towed to a dealership. They did tried (eventually unsuccessfully) to not cover 80% of the necessary repairs that were all drive train. Even allowing 0.7 hours to repair an oil leak from the camshaft and the repair shop bid it at 17.2 hours to repair. They proved to be very sleezy and tried to wiggle out of paying for what their warrenty covered. read more

Had a very good experience with my extended warranty company. The dealer found that the front axles needed to be replaced as well as the transmission mount. Tim my adjuster was amazing and sent two inspectors out and made the determination that the repairs were necessary as both were safety issues. After inspection the repairs were approved and the dealer performed the work noted in the claim. While the vehicle was there I had them replace the 2 rear tires and paid separately for that as they were having a special of $150 off 2 tires. The warranty company was extremely professional and thorough and approved my claim as submitted. Keep in mind that in California there are few good and reliable warranty companies and this warranty I purchased through the dealership is outstanding and highly recommended. I purchased the level 3 coverage which is quite comprehensive and with today's vehicles was highly recommended by the dealership. I can't say enough good things about the claim process, inspections and overall experience. I recieved the car back after the completion of the repairs and am truly a satisfied customer. I highly recommend Cars Protection Plus when considering an automobile purchase at a participating dealership. Worthy of 5 plus stars. read more

Would leave a negative star if I could. I purchased the level 4 which in their contract of schedule coverages "All of Your Vehicle's factory-equipped original mechanical and electrical parts" Took my Vehicle to the Audi Dealership (the only place that honor their warranty) to get my AC fixed. Out of a $4250 bill they offered to pay $780 and they said they would only pay for one part from O'Reilly not OEM. Took them 2 weeks to basically tell me yeah we don't like to pay for claims. read more

Bought two used Volvos from Torch Light Motors in NJ and was sold a CARS policy for both. the A/C went on the one and the cataly converter on the orher. CARS won't pay a dime for either repair?!?! The dealer who has the car with the A/C issue said the hourly rate they would have paid if it was covered is from 25 years ago.... STAY AWAY!!! read more

So strange to see the negative reviews. I just had a great experience with them. The CID screen in my car broke and needed to be replaced. The claim did take a couple of days to get approved because of the amount of money involved (it was substantial), but they ultimately approved my claim 100%. I did have the Prime Protect Level 3, which is bumper-to-bumper, so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. Regardless, super glad I bought the warranty. Paid for itself in one shot. read more

For the first claim it took awhile to figure out how the process worked. The service rep at the dealership had a long wait on hold to speak with an adjuster, and then the time difference between coasts bogged things down for a weekend. Finally got approved and the coverage worked quite well. read more

If I could give zero or negative stars I would, I'm not even sure how a business can operate with such incompetence and disrespect. There truly is no customer service here, not only that but I've never felt more insulted in my life having spent any time with these people. Avoid this place at all costs that extra cash you would spend here is way more worth it spent on a Walmart protection plan. read more

Absolutely Useless Warranty - Do Not Waste Your Money This so-called "warranty" is a complete joke. We've brought our vehicle in for three different repairs now, and not a single one was covered. Every time, we were given excuses, fine print, or vague reasons why the repair "didn't qualify." If nothing is ever going to be covered, what exactly are we paying for? To make matters worse, the dealership that sold us the car heavily pushed this warranty as if it were a must-have -- clearly just a money grab. Shame on them for advertising something so misleading and worthless. Save yourself the frustration and extra cost. This warranty is not worth the paper it's printed on. read more

Its almost impossible to get someone on the phone. Dealer won't start work without verbal authorization but they and I have set on hold for 20 minutes at which point it just asks us to leave a message. Have tried multiple phone numbers. When they do answer claims gets approved quick but getting someone on the phone is like pulling teeth. read more

This company is an absolute scam. They make you jump through so many hoops until you finally give up on trying to use your warranty and pay out-of-pocket for vehicle repairs. I've been without a car for a week and a half and zero progress has been made toward a resolution between our dealership, a second party mechanic who was able to confirm the damage to my car, and this joke of a warranty company. Cars protection plus sent a faulty part originally for a repair. Now it's back in the shop with the exact same issue and they are fighting us claiming it's not their responsibility to cover the damage. We are out of pocket nearly $5000. Run as far away as you possibly can from them. read more

1st off this company is shady. They say their name is Liberty Auto USA, however, in the fine print they state the company is actually this one, located at 4350 Northern Pike. They fight paying everything, force you to keep car at shop till they get around to talking to the shop. Then they slow play it, lie at every turn trying to say parts not covered that are, and then will keep your car at the shop for weeks just for a control arm that is a couple hour job at most. Save your money and your time. They lie, cheat, and steal. read more

There are a lot of bad reviews on the insurer, but my experience was not bad at all. We have two (2) BMW vehicles (2016 435ic & 2021 X7) with a policy on each. I did get feedback from our mechanic (local garage) that CARS was difficult to deal with in filing the claim. I was told by our local mechanic that certain parts (valve cover) that is habitually replaced with a failed gasket was not being covered, but in the end the insurer did cover it. We had to reassure the mechanic that we would pay the cost of any work not covered. The process with our local mechanic took over a week, which I thought was excessive. CARs covered just over $1,400 on the parts and repair. That same week, we also took our X7 to the BMW dealership for routine service and were told we needed a ball joint and some type of rod at a cost of $2K. The dealership made the claim and CARs sent out an adjuster the next day to inspect. The report from the insurance adjuster took a day, and approval was given the following day to complete the repair. In all it took 3 days to get the vehicle serviced, repaired and returned. CARs did not replace certain bolts associated with the failed part/s, which I opted to replace at the dealership's recommendation. I did call CARs on each claim to check on the process and see if I could assist at all. They were prompt and professional on each call. I did ask the insurer if using a dealership versus a local mechanic was more efficient in the claim process, but they denied any difference. My advice, know your policy - read it and follow it. Be prepared to direct your mechanic if they're not familiar with the process. I printed our policy and highlighted the process, policy number and telephone numbers for them. I found most mechanics and dealerships are familiar with the claim process. So far, we are happy we had the insurance, but disappointed in the amount of time the local mechanic and/or CARs took to complete the first claim/repair. read more

Car Protection Plus not good company, do not go to this warranty service. We had a vehicle that they were not gonna cover because someone before we bought the vehicle and 3 months we had no issue until the engine start to mess up. They said they weren't gonna cover because someone not us file a claim on the engine before we bought the vehicle. Not the way to do business they should of said to us " by the way a claim was filed on your engine do you still want it covered" they knew this. So we wasted money for nothing so we canceled. I had my vehicle put in the shop Monday afternoon. The dealership i took it took had been trying to reach cars protection plus for hrs. Finally after he did speak with them it took them 3 days to get back to him. Now, by this time I'm calling them trying to find out what the hold up is. They gave me the runaround, i haven't worked in 4 days and can't get to work without a car. Wouldn't approve my loaner car. Then they tell the dealership they want them to put after market parts in my car. I have to pay the difference out of pocket. Because there only covering $400 in parts for a $3600 dollar job. What is the point of a warreny? I will never recommend this company for anything. read more

As with the majority of people who wrote a review here this warranty is useless. Although the warranty specifically covers air conditioning items , when my repair shop called they found a way to deny all claims. They denied all claims on my oil sending unit. Denied all claims on my front end. Have a claim, they have a way to deny it. This company is a scam as was the stealer ship I bought the car from who got a kickback for selling me this completely worthless warranty- Barry's Auto in Newport RI. When my mechanic called (repeatedly) and tried to get some of these items covered for me he finally asked what his customer (me) was paying for if these items were not covered. He got a rude reply. I also read they buy used parts which to me shows you what a joke this place is. Wish I had read reviews before buying this warranty. Its worthless. read more

Contacted Cars protection , VIA AAMCO. Cars representatives contacted me regarding my claim. The agent was very friendly and courteous. Explained what was covered per the plan. This was a short term contract, and had only limited coverage. I thought it would have covered my transmission repair in full, but didn't. Though the agent was very pleasant to me, me, not so much to the AAMCO shop. I'm paying the larger portions of the repair, I felt the agent should not have hassled the repair shop over the smaller portion that Cars had to pay. In doing so, it takes longer than normal to get your vehicle repaired, creating an additional cost to the customer. read more

WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS IF THERE WERE SUCH A THING ..3 year initial plan expired so got the next best one and this is it....Torque converter went out...which means the transmission is also out, they wanted to replace with a used, not rebuilt transmission and also said they were not responsible for the transmission fluid or programming...5300.00 total...said they would pay 2850...when I called they said.. "It's in your contract..." so... shame on me for not reading the contract and its a PITA for the mechanic as well get started...they use any excuse they can to get out of anything they can...as it is in your contract read more

It is my belief that Cars protection plus agents are trained to deny as many claims as possible. I purchased a level 3 warranty I tried to use it when my heater went out, They found a way to deny me ($800) Second time I tried to use warranty for my drive axle assembly, They clearly state they cover this but I was denied again after I got a second option on my problem. They said I had no recourse or appeal. So I had no choice but to cancel a warranty they never meant to honor. I'd never suggest them to anyone PERIOD read more

Absolutely the worst company you could possibly do business with! I own an auto repair shop & have worked with this company several times & every time is nothing but a hassle. This last one that we still have in the shop ( 3 weeks & counting) is the worst. Customer needs engine repair & we had to do authorized teardown to find the problem. The failed part is a covered item & they are trying everything they can to get out of covering this repair. The vehicle has tied up a bay in our shop the entire time, costing us money, & the poor customer has been without a vehicle. Needless to say we will never do another job for this company. read more

I simply asked what date the date I should make my cancelation effective as I would rather not continue to make another payment and then have to receive a refund. I was told he was unable to tell me and that I should call the insurance company. I had already spoken to the insurnace company twice and they said I would have to speak with him. He also responded rudely that I should ensure I could even get insurance because I've had an accident and a DUI and that I shouldn't worry about a few bucks. I had previously explained to him that I had moved and the insurance I had was not valid for FL. The whole time this was all through email and he was very rude and completly unhelpful. I would never have thought of dropping insurance except that I moved out of state. I do not understand why I had to go through so many hoops and be treated so incredibly rude to cancel my policy with him. I would recommend anyone to stay away from this Agency.

They did not represent me whatsoever. Took the other party's side. For reference, they took the witnesses claim of the FRONT turn signal was working but the incident happened in the back of the vehicle which was stated the rear turn signal was not seen. Which was not. Which is what caused the accident. If you're an auto insurance, shouldn't you know that all vehicles lights are separate bulbs? Just because the front works does not mean the rear works the same. After many surgeries and a month long hospital stay, I wanted some justice for what happened, just to be told by MY insurance who is supposed to represent ME tell me it's my fault for hitting the other vehicle. Of which I did not see a turn signal and came to an abrupt stop. But its case closed since the witness said the FRONT TURN SIGNAL WAS WORKING. I WAS IN THE REAR NOT THE FRONT. Save yourself the frustration and do not get Progressive.

was told by the dealer this warranty was great and pretty much covered everything bumper to bumper except normal things like breaks, tires, bulbs things like that. well, come to find out it is a bunch of lies!!!! they are very difficult to deal with on the phone. their hours are whatever they want them to be and they do not get back to you. they pretty much cover nothing!! if they do say it is covered they will find a way to either not cover it, or you will have to pay a bunch out of pocket for labor cost differences (they only cover $70/hour, who the hell works on cars for $70/hour, nobody!!!!), diagnostics (they do not cover diagnostics), rental vehicles (they say they cover a rental car but they really do not), they use used parts???? C.A.R.S. Protection Plus is a used car warranty company. I am an unfortunate guy just like many many others that made the mistake of paying for the warranty sold by this company assuming that when the need arises they will pay for the repair. But, they are determined not to pay for any warranty repairs. How so? Well, I am taking my time and writing this just to help others and if you take your time and read the whole thing, you will understand how. 1) Their contract has a lot of fine prints and you will probably not be able to read the whole thing. The main play is that if anything happens to your car, you are responsible to pay any licensed mechanic to tear down the car up to the place of problem. This seems reasonable.. but hey see what happens... assume you have a water pump problem, then you take your car to a mechanic, and pay them to remove the water pump, and then they will wait for the inspector who will authorize the repair, and they decide if you need a new or used (written in the the fine prints) water pump, and they always go for a junk yard for parts...so they will put a used water pump and they will only pay for the putting it there... so they always pay half the job. You pay for removing anything they pay for replacing. And, if this is a transmission, just imagine, you will pay for removing the transmission but this is not enough, they also want to see the problem inside transmission...so the transmission needs to be torn down to see the problem... and they only pay certain parts in transmission... certain parts in engine.. and when they pay for labor it is $35 an hour. It is a nightmare... the mechanic just saw the warranty card of C.A.R.S. Protection Plus and started to laugh... 2) Those guys are really determined not to pay and they never properly communicate with the mechanics and if you ever call to complain, they just get your number and tell you someone will call you in 24 hours... and then you hopelessly wait... My mechanic said it is the time game they play and they always tell people to take them to court... and in this busy world, how feasible it is. If there was less than 1 star that is what this company would get. They are the least customer focused organization I've ever dealt with. They are the worst. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM FROM ANY DEALER!!! They are the used car clown suited salesman of "Protection Plans" Their labor time/rate index is NOT what reputable repair shops use for calculating labor costs. Their labor rate coverage is clear (mine was $70). The issue is, they use an obsolete time index so they only cover about 1/2 of the actual time it really takes to do the repair job. They will only authorize used, re-manufactured or IMPORT (Chinese) parts.. NOT OEM grade parts. They are thieves in every definition of the word and their responses to every question come right from their cue cards posted at their phones in their rat infested cubicles. My repair shop actually worked with me to offset some of the costs due to all the frustration from the CARS Protection Plus Jackheads. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL AND ABSOLUTELY NO CONSIDERATION OF THE IMPACT TO PEOPLE HOODWINKED INTO THEIR SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES. I suppose shame on me for believing in their BS. Never again. HEED MY WARNING ... STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND THEIR DECEITFUL AND DISGUSTING BUSINESS PRACTICES! Also go to the Better Business Bureau site. You'll find a plethora of complaints there as well. They are "proud" of the time in business. Well, any company could stay in business indefinitely if they keep taking from the single purchasing customer (because anyone past 4th grade wouldn't buy from them twice) and not providing anything of value in return. Its no wonder why their review rating on BBB is 95% negative (fact. look it up for yourself) I was pleased to see the link in another review to the Attorney Generals Office. I'm adding that to my list of next actions on the scammers. I'd be embarrassed to steal (as they refer to work) for such an unscrupulous company. I can hold my head up on my drive home each day. May their claims personnel live an equally suffering life as their customers have experienced being subject to CARS Protection Plus business. read more

I have been in the car industry for 19 years and I have trained car dealerships all over the united states. I have experienced many different service contract companies aka warranty. I was just going to leave my review but read some other reviews so I am now going to both give my review ans some instruction to help.. First my review. in my 19 years in the business and dealing with multiple dealerships and "warranty" companies I have found Cars Protection Plus to do exactly as they say and how the contracts read. I have processed several claims threw them with zero issues. Thus the negative reviews I did read sound like either sabotage or not knowing or reading their contract. since i have processed several with no issue it does not add up. I am not bias to any one company as i have used them all. However saying that Cars Protection has become my favorite because NO issues! This company has several contracts that provide several options from rate per hour to coverage. If you are not covered on a part or hourly rate you bought the wrong contract. Again I know because I have sold several of these contracts. I have very very good reputation in the business and you drop this company if they did anything opposite of how their contracts read. They merely have not. The reason I say this is because I have dealt with other companies who snake their way out of coverage. This one simply does not. Michael Bucker is my name. I am not afraid to post my full name as I only speak true facts in all my business transactions. I will tell you this beware of all those who say beware as a professional I am very pick and this company is the only one to date that has met my standards. NO I dont own any part of the company nor do I work for them. I simply hate false or uneducated reviews. In my experience that is what i have been reading. I promise you this. My first customer service experience with this "insurance" company was miserable. I received a phone call after filing a claim on a recently used car that I planned to drive cross country. Because I had minimally driven the car, the representative (Tom, I think) proceeded to berate me for filing a claim in which lots of exhaust and brake work was done. His tone of voice was immediately rude and I even had to say, "Your tone is aggressive, and I don't know why." Clearly, he had no practice controlling his breath or anger and continued to yell and ask me why the car was minimally driven, yet needed all this work. I had to describe to him that a) it's a vehicle with 150,000 miles on it from 1998 and b) it was about to get driven 2100 miles, so I wanted it to be safe. Still, he scolded me and certainly made it sound as if their insurance service--for which I paid more than $1400 for--had no interest in covering the claim whatsoever. Of about $1200 in repairs, the coverage helped with about $200. Then, once I finished the road trip, the car was fine, until a few hundred miles were driven. It needed more work and because of CARS Protection Plus contract language, they would not cover a hub repair, simply because they call it something else. My mechanic said he's called it a hub, his auto mechanic schooling taught him to call it a hub and the dealer from where he got the new hub called it a hub! He went to bat for me with them, highlighting the flaw in their lexicon, but CARS refused to budge, and would only cover $292 of a $1031 claim. Avoid this crummy, temporary auto insurance as much as you can. The customer service is the worst I've ever had anywhere and the loopholes they've written into their contracts are impossible to spot for an ordinary consumer. i think there is a pattern here for the totally bad reviews about this company and there so called good warranty. i would give them a 0 rating if i could. have been paying for this warranty for almost 1.5 years monthly of approx $42.00 per month. had to take to garage for a repair on power steering pump bad, and high pressure line leaking. states in there warranty these are covered. so garage submits a claim, and they come back with they will not cover diagnostic time, which was needed, because they had to pull the part to see which part they needed to get to fix repair. then the warranty company states they are only going to pay for certain percentage's of the labor, and will only pay so much for the parts. How can they say this, parts and labor in specific areas of the country are higher or lower. this is a crappy way for them to get away with paying for this. so i call into the agent my garage was working with, and he was very rude, would not let me talk per say, and you could tell he was reading from a script, kept saying same thing over and over again. bad business sense, and crappy customer service. so all said and done, bill was approx $900.00, and they were only willing to pay about $150.00 if that. how in the world do they feel this is fair, and that there warranty is helping the consumer at all. totally not. i have another warranty company on my other vehicle, and used it the other week, and from a total bill of over $1900, i had to pay $290, and that was including the $100 deductible. GARBAGE COMPANY, GARBAGE CUSTOMER SERVICE. can not believe they are still in business after so many bad reviews. how do they feel good about this company, and how do they sleep at night ripping people off? read more
