Mike and Micha were super helpful. Mike Smith answers his phone ALL the time and Micah was very accommodating in helping to finish a project with a very short timeframe. I was managing a project that was past deadline and in a rush to finish the project with reliable people, so was relieved to have Mike pick up the phone on Saturday, connect me with a developer, Micah, and actually agree to take on the job - AND finish the job when the necessary deadline. Nouveau Studios is a company you do not want to deal with. Moreover, in my experience, the Owner/CEO, Ian is completely irresponsible. Furthermore, his abilities and experience to operate Nouveau Studios, with the customer in mind, is highly questionable. Perhaps for startups with little finance, but for major companies that deal in 5-6 figure campaigns, stay far from Nouveau Studios and Ian. I first was introduced to Nouveau Studios while working with my business partner on projects that Ian was commissioned to handle. Oh, I will not mention the company name because this is MY review of Nouveau Studios not my business partners. Additionally, I do not want our business name to be affiliated with Nouveau Studios in any manner from now on. My business partner was always trying to get Ian to return calls, emails, and meet deadlines that they both agreed upon. Ian rarely came through for us. For the record, my business partner asked Ian to be a partner in the company. Ian was excited, agreed to the terms of the contract, and even signed the contract. I have the copy still on file. To much dismay, Ian was often late to meetings with my business partner, which is a red flag for me. I never felt comfortable with his work or his professionalism. But my partner insisted he was "a good guy." On more than one occasion my partner advised him on how to handle a client of Nouveau's for graphic design and website development... from what I understand, Ian never followed through with that either. My question to you, the reader is, if Ian and his company Nouveau Studios, cannot demonstrate simple courtesies, how will he and Nouveau Studios follow through when you pay him for his service? Granted, you're a paying customer, but do you really want to gamble with your investment? The last event in dealing with Nouveau Studios and Ian came when our offices moved to Fullerton, CA and Ian was called by my business partner to return the office key that was given to him. Mind you, because Ian dropped from the face of the earth, never returning calls or emails from my business partner, I told my business partner to just leave Ian to waste and never deal with him again. On the day we moved, Ian never delivered the key. We were charged a fee for his irresponsibility. Thanks Ian! Till this day Ian (being the CEO) and his Nouveau Studios, has never formally apologized to my business partner or me; but he has managed to work hard to create his own company. I called this morning to get a quote. I explained the guy who answered the phone that I had a very limited budget and that I was looking for minor tweaks on my existing squarespace website. My budget was/is $1500.00. I was shocked to hear that they won't work with anyone unless you have $10,000. Really seriously? I find that very excessive, but I guess those that left reviews are part of an elite crowd of reviewers/clients who may already be established businesses. However, as a graduate communications student on a tight limited budget $10,000 is a high price to pay. Having said that, I am curious to see how they justify their costs, especially after checking their existing portfolio. Anyhow, I am happy to say that I did find several squarespace certified designers (on squarespace website) who offer banging services at very reasonable prices to inject some minor tweaks to an existing squarespace website which does not need major structural work, but just minor changes to fonts, colors, and perhaps adding a scrolling effect to my site. How does one justifies $ 10,000 for that? Perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough to this person who by the way was short when I mentioned my budget, and was even laughing at me as if I was somewhat disillusioned or disconnected from reality. So I guess if pricing is a measuring metric, I am compelled to give him five stars. However, I am actually giving him one star for being opened on mother's day but I have to take half of that star back because he asked what was I doing calling him on mother's day, but I guess if I had that $10,000 it would have been okay to call on mother's day? read more
