We had a really fantastic experience at this hospital yesterday. Danielle B was kind and generous completing our initial intake. Adriana (I think) was our Nurse, she was sweet, empathic, and attentive. Dr Mike McLaughlin was our doctor and he was extremely thorough and kind. They were apologetic about a long wait. More importantly they conducted a swab test for Covid & Flu. They also did blood & urine testing. Prognosis was Kinney infection. They gave us antibiotics and got us discharged same day after 2-bags of fluid Thank you guys so much!! Everyone was kind and helpful. It was a great to get world class treatment here in Gardnerville. I've experienced the worst experience in my life from Carson Valley health system. Especially the hospital.! I can't believe I showed up for an emergency and there was no doctors available. They had to make a call for a doctor to come to the hospital on-call doctors at an emergency room. I've never heard of such a thing.? Extremely rude nurses and doctor specially the female doctor that told me my cancer is nothing we get those all the time . I went into the hospital because my organs were going in the compulsions my body was not cooperating and then I get in a room and I've got five nurses in my head asking me what's going on I told them talk to my wife. They said no we need to speak to you. I said I can't speak to you. I don't know what's going on. I'm confused. I'm irritated. Please talk to my wife they refuse. I had my walking came in my right hand, resting my right shoulder on the Cane as they were on the left yelling in my ear, and they would not release their voices from disturbing me. Instead, they kept antagonizing me where I threw my cane in the corner, hitting the toilet 5 feet away. There's a lot more to this, but what I really don't appreciate. Is that my chart nonsense they right. They don't write about your diagnosis or any of that important stuff. No day right negative nonsense. I can't believe they said that I threw things plural things.. if I was pulling things off the shelf or wherever and just throwing it like a crazy person really!! And then they called security for no reason at all. I've never experienced security. I'm a senior citizen unbelievable. My wife won't even go to the doctors now because of the experience I have a receipt that she had witness. Because of this terrible medical system in Gardnerville, minden , Nevada . So I don't know how to say it in case Emergency go to that hospital otherwise don't I can't say that because mine was an emergency and then they tell me it's not an emergency between Gardnerville hospital and the Carson Tahoe hospital. They both are the worst hospitals.. well that sucks for senior citizen that were a lot of doctors to help them opposed to us telling the doctors what to do because there's no doctors there and if there is a physician, , their nurse practitioners ! Not doctors!!! And that's the way this whole northern Nevada is that I ever experienced lack of doctors. It's terrible.. I have so much to say over my 11 1/2 year cancer journey that I've never experienced remission nothing but judgment, hatred comments. No support just disturbance. It's terrible and I want to know this and record everything., and I mean everything it's legal in Nevada ,to report without asking. Because if you do ask, they're gonna hide their behavior but then again they're so loose they most likely overlooked the cameras and continue their professional behavior.. Came here to get some blood work done and was surprised by the service and care I experienced. Not that they have a bad rep or anything, but I haven't always had the best experience at any medical facility. From the check in nurse who went over my paperwork/insurance, to the Phlebotomist who took my blood, everybody I encountered was friendly, personable, and did everything they could to make me comfortable. If you're ever in the position where you need to come here, don't fret. They'll take good care of you. read more

If there was a lower star I would have picked it. This is not a hospital at all . I will never go back again. I'll drive to Reno or California if I have to. There is so much wrong with this place I can't say all of it but nobody in the whole place new anything. They could not draw blood. Not any of them. I could have done it better. The food is not food. I wouldn't feed it to a dog if they were starving. It was so bad. Not a single nurse did anything right. I had to have iv lasix and they put in the iv so fast after I said do it slow. Then they argued with me about my meds . Then finally saw they were wrong. Omg so many things bad in this place . I will Never be back. Worst hospital I've ever been in. I'm sure the staff there are great to hang with at a BBQ, but their understanding of anything medical is suspect. Twice my wife has gone there for an emergency and twice they have cost us money in surgery and other medical bills to fix their misdiagnosis. I mean, she had a horrible rib break and concussion and they thought she was fine enough to sleep it off? You guys trying to kill someone? We've decided that they probably have the staff to keep someone alive long enough to be airlifted to a place with professionals. The staff looked confused both times and can't find a vein for pain meds if there was a neon sign showing where it is. Do I sound angry? You should see my bills to fix their mistakes. read more

Their outpatient services are excellent, but my husband and I have no confidence in the care you get as an inpatient. From my husband's experience, one of the surgeons on rotation there wasn't even a member of this hospital staff. He lived and practiced in another state and did a rotation once a year at CVHH. The Hospitalists were not on the same page with treatment and his treatment was changed day by day. Once discharged, he was given discharge instructions for a diet that was not what the doctor ordered, and this could have had major health implications. read more

In the hospital for 12 days with a painful injury. over the years i have been in many hospitals ,both large and small. The care i received here was better than any hospital i had ever been to before. From the cleaning staff to the doctors and all the nurses every conversation ended with them asking if I needed anything . Physical therapy offered got me well enough to leave. My first experience with this wonderful facility. Simply the best ER experiences I ever had. Most importantly, they kept updating me on what was happening so even though it wasn't super fast I was very happy that I didn't feel 'forgotten' like I have at previous facilities. Every time a result came in the nurse let me know. Even though they were busy the doctor didn't rush me and let me explain my story the way I wanted to tell it. He then was very gentle in examining me. I go by my middle name (so not the one on my patient bracelet) and the staff remembered to use my preferred name. Not only was the nursing staff and physicians excellent, but the radiology department was equally brilliant. When they came to get they were very caring and made sure I had the medicine I needed in order to get good images. When they were doing the test, they talked me through each step and told me what to expect. They showed extreme concern that I was ready and as comfortable as possible to get the information I needed. So to Aluana the nurse, Melissa the nurse and Dr. Raymond Stillwell, I salute you for your professionalism but even more for your compassion for my point of view. I didn't catch the names of the radiology staff but they were also heroes in the story So my advice is if you are in need of an ER on a Sunday night don't delay go see them right away. Went into Carson Valley Medical Center urgent care with a badly infected finger from an accidental dog bite (we were playing fetch). Took an hour to see someone but I didn't have an appointment. Everyone I interacted with was very pleasant and efficient, A prescription was called in for me, and the infection was cleared up completely in a week. read more

Carson Valley Medical Center urgent care center is absolutely worthless. I was recently involved in a boat accident and thought I had broke my arm. Once I was taken back and been told that the x-ray machine was broken and I would have to go to another facility. I also had a major flesh wound on my opposite arm hand and deep patched me up with some Mickey Mouse bandage that came off before I made it to the emergency room. it seems the urgent care is mostly clinics, if you need to go to this facility, go to the emergency room at the hospital in Gardnerville because urgent care doesn't have a clue. read more

This place was horrible. I was shoved by a nurse named Diana. I had to call the police to file assault charges and Douglas county did nothing to her. I would not recommend this place at all. I would recommend any other ER. These people are rude and have poor customer service. Even the Doctor acted like he did not want to be there. If you have an emergency go anywhere else. My husband and I have both been patients in the ES as well as in and out patient. We always receive excellent clinical and personal care Most recently my husband was treated in the ICU x2. The clinical care was excellent especially by Dr s Cherry, Phillipone (spelling?) and Cannone. The staff from all departments were very good. I was referred by my Primary Doctor to see Dr. Sullivan for headaches. He is the worst doctor I've ever sene. He did nothing to treat my headaches and sent me on my way. Some months later I received a bill for the full price of the office visit, no insurance applied. When I checked in, I'd asked the front desk to verify I was covered and they refused. I should have left then but I was in pain and needed help. I was referred to a patient advocate to assist me with the bill. After a year, I figured my case had been evaluated and I was not required to pay for poor quality service. Then I was called by billing and asked to pay in full. This doctor is lousy and so is everyone I've delt with in this office. If this was a retail establishment, I'd be able to return a defective product. In this case I'm screwed and had to get headache treatment elsewhere. My only recourse is this review. read more

I came to the Center last week for emergency stiches on my leg. It's a long story, but I cut myself while hiking and jumping a creek with not the cleanest of water. We drove for 50 miles to get to the Center. Needless to say, I was wet and dirty as I walked in, tired and a long way from home. I was given such compassionate treatment from (forgive me if I get this wrong or there are some misspellings) Rachel, Shaun, Cindy, PJ and Dr. Jantos. They are a professional and friendly team. This place is a bummer. I am a bit despondent with their care. This Summer I got severely ill. I had three dangerous 104 degree fevers on three separate days spread out over a one week period. The third time was at Carson Tahoe who measured my temperature at 104.2 degrees. There was some serious disconnect at the ER department. It was about 2:30 am when I was admitted which don't get me wrong is outside the 7-7 visiting hours. Only issue is they had that absurd Covid policy where visitors were not allowed back to visit patients. I consider this immature after 3 years of experience and widespread immunity. More importantly I would diagnose this policy as ethically deficient, as it violates patient dignity. They make blanket statements in their notes about me declining an anti nausea medication (Zofran) as automatically declining all IVs and blood tests. I would not have declined blood tests given the opportunity, as I am not phobic towards needles, as well as desperate to get to the bottom of what was causing my illness. A few days later I went to Carson Tahoe which did an impressive job treating me. They allowed visitors with a wide 12 hour period, helpful nursing staff, and were more competent in their approach. They did their due diligence because they did not jump to quick conclusions. They released me when every possible avenue was explored unlike Carson Valley. If there was another hospital in town they could struggle a lot. To sum things up avoid this hospital unless you or someone close is bleeding heavily from their skull. Otherwise take the time to go to Carson Tahoe. I have decided that if I make it close to 100 years god willing, that I will opt to die at home. read more

I was camping with my family at Twin Lakes Bridgeport and had an issue with numbness in my hand. After deciding to drive to Carson Valley Medical Center I'm glad we did. I ended up having a small stroke and spent 2 1/2 days in the hospital. If I could give them 10 stars I would. From being greeted in the Emergency to being discharged I was treated like royalty. Everyone I came into contact with was amazing. I had a different nurse each shift except Gina she was there each day shift. All are GREAT! People that love their job and it shows! I have to give a huge shoutout to this facility, especially in the imaging department. I was there this morning for a routine mammogram. Unfortunately, during my procedure I began to feel as though I was going to pass out (so embarrassing) so informed my tech Elizabeth that I needed to sit down for a couple minutes. I knew that's what I had to do because this has happened to me more than once. She was so extremely wonderful about the whole situation. I kept apologizing and she just kept saying please don't apologize. I was profusely sweating and disoriented. She immediately called the Nurse (Rhonda) over for assistance who ran and got me a cup of orange juice (which helps). She checked my blood pressure, which was extremely low. They told me that they couldn't let me leave to drive while I was in that state, which I completely understand. They suggested getting checked out at the ER, which I declined. So instead, the Nurse Rhonda got a wheelchair and moved me into another office. Put me in a recliner with warm blankets and my feet up. Sent for a chocolate protein shake for me to drink to try to get my blood pressure back up. I sat there for about 20 minutes drinking the shake. Rhonda came back in to make sure my blood pressure came up, which it did and I was able to go home. The care and compassion I received from both Rhonda and Elizabeth was beyond my wildest expectations. They are beautiful people and I can't thank them enough for how wonderful I was treated. I hope they both get a raise or some kind of award. Thank you so much! read more

I have been sick for a week. I visited the ER earlier in the week and went home. I continued to get worse and couldn't seem to kick the sickness. Today, I had to go back to the ER and the nurse was amazing. Shout out to Melissa in the Er. I love her she is just the realest nurse I ever met. Then I was admitted and the nurses here on the unit are amazing! I feel so much better just knowing how well im cared for. read more

I strongly discourage people from choosing Carson Valley Medical Center (CVMC) Choose Carson Tahoe instead. In Minden, both urgent care centers for both CVMC and Carson Tahoe are next to one another. So choose carefully. Carson Valley Medical Center: With the exception of the doctor I saw, all staff members from the front desk to the Medical assistants to the billing departments are all extremely rude and incompetent. At the front desk they are very rude, have no manners and treat patients like cattle. The M.A.s are equally incompetent and in my case were incapable of explaining the purpose of an oxymeter !!! Incompetent and rude is not a flattering combination. The billing department pretends to cater to your needs but dealing with them is extremely frustrating, to the point where I had to file a complaint with the state of Nevada. I will never ever deal with them again. Avoid the Carson Valley Medical Center Urgent Care like the Black Plague or Covid. read more

Carson Valley Medical Center ER I've had numerous experiences with CVMC ER. My experiences weren't that great until I went on 1/20 1am due to severe chest pain. The kind of pain I didn't know existed. I'm not going to go into it all, but I feel so completely blessed by getting Dr. TONINI. He treated me with such kindness and understanding. I could have suffered a hell of a lot if he did not handle my care the way he did. He admitted me, I'd never been so grateful for being admitted to the hospital in all my life, ha. From there, I got great care from Dr Thai and Dr Phan. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. ___________________ CVMC Wound Care WOUND CARE CENTER, they are definitely 5 stars!  Jolene and Mandy are just great.  They are a lot of fun, but also professional.  They're amazing at taking your mind off what's going on with your wound.  Cleaning and packing my wound is a really unpleasant experience.  Not painful, just ick.  But they keep your mind off of it by engaging you in some interesting and fun conversation.  I could make those two my new BFF's ha. Most importantly, they've taken very good care of me.  I've ran into issues with previous wound care where they were skimping on the supplies and didn't want to use expensive bandaging even though I needed it.  They supply me and bandage me with what's necessary and best for my wound.  If they find irritation, they will try something else and treat the irritation.  I've shown a recurrence of infection today and Jolene was right on top of it and got a culture.  Dr Knoll, I really like this surgeon.  When you're overweight like me, it's often you get put down and criticized by doctors.  I get it, being overweight is a ridiculous and dangerous thing to do to yourself.  But it doesn't hurt not to be a total jank hole while you're expressing the dangers of being fat.  And Dr Knoll knows how to talk to me about how being overweight is exacerbating my wounds and does it in a respectful and kind manner.  I've had numerous experiences with this surgeon and I just really appreciate his bedside manners. Overall, my experience with the WOUND CARE center has been nothing short of 5 stars. read more

Went here for my wife who thought she had a bladder infection. We were greeted by a friendly staff member and within 10 minutes she was going to give a sample for the test. In about 30 minutes we were informed that she did in fact have a bladder infection and was provided with prescription. The doctor that treated her went over her past medical medications. Very thorough very friendly people. Highly recommend if you are in the area or if you cannot get into your regular position. We are we're here on vacation from California. read more

This review is ONLY for the lab, specifically the plebotomists. (I've had surgery here, and the experience was okay as far as this kind of distasteful process goes - 3 stars - but I'm not rating that.) I've had some medical adventures over the past few years, but I'm still a total wimp about needles. Now, lucky me, I get to have blood drawn at least once each year as part of my follow-up. I know, this is NO big deal for most adults, but I'm a needlephobe. When I go into the lab, I tell the technician that I should lie down for the blood draw, since once I passed out during this. They always reply that it's no big deal, and then they work FAST. They chat to distract me, and then, BINGO, they're DONE! Seriously, I've NEVER felt the jab part of the blood draw. These guys (gals, actually) are AMAZING. read more

My wife had to go to the emergency room for back and abdominal pains late in the evening! From the moment we walked in we received nothing but the best service and care. We found she needed her Gall Bladder removed and was checked into the hospital. Every staff member including the maintenance and cleaning crew were nice and made sure to help with anything! I only wish I had taken down the names to thank everyone personally! All the operating staff were exceptional and showed they cared! My wife's nurse Warren was so attentive to every detail! Her nurse, Barb, had an incredibly positive attitude and helped her as we checked out! We just moved to the Carson Valley from Las Vegas and have never had this type of service! Carson Valley Health - Medical Centers Near Me - Gardnerville, Nevada

This is strictly for the ER. Even though it was several years ago, it was the worst experience. Husband's dr advised him to go to ER to get fluid drained from abdomen. (No diagnosis yet, was in process, didn't really know what was going on.) ER doc said "don't come here for this. We'll drain the fluid this one time but don't come to the ER again". (This was repeated 3 times.) ER doc said the beds are for real emergencies. He then got some test results that had been done the prior week. His follow up appt wasn't until another week or so. The ER doc says "Oh, you have cirrhosis of the liver". So that's how we got the diagnosis. This doctor was a complete tool. The nurses were so nice and compassionate. I have never been to the ER myself and hopefully will never need to. read more

Inconsiderate nurses and very poor efforts to protect against the spread of covid. I was on my 13th day of covid and I was very surprised by how little was done to isolate me before and after I was diagnosed. I arrived wearing a KN-95 mask but the ward I was taken to was not much more than a hallway which led to a waiting room where 10 or so people were sitting with the typical array of sub-standard masks. This no more than 10 yards up an open hallway from the room I was left in for 5 hours before finally seeing a doctor. Meanwhile, I was told put on a gown which the nurse failed to tie in back, and then I was told to sit up in a reclining position (which is not good for those who have congested lungs). When I mentioned that the position they had me in was making it more difficult to breath the nurse simply raised the backrest up to almost vertical, and with my legs extended straight out, while sitting on a mattress with a large wrinkle in it, this just made me less comfortable. So, I just hung my legs off the side and slumped my way along. My nurse also forgot to give me a cup for a urine sample and she also failed to tell me anything at all about the results of my copious blood samples. Ultimately, after a few hours being made uncomfortable, I was simply told that I have covid and that there was not much that they could do for me. When I told the doctor that they had forgotten about the urine sample and that I had been experiencing a burning sensation when urinating he opened the door and had a nurse bring me a sample cup. But, I was discharged shortly thereafter and no results of that test were forthcoming. All things considered, a bad experience with no benefit whatsoever. read more

I hate that this is the only place you can go if it's an emergency situation. I have lived here for 20 years and been coming here for all my medical needs and I can honestly say that I have NEVER had a good experience here. Especially if you dont have insurance..they are horrible to you. Average wait time is at least an hour till u get into a room and then the nurses all sit and play and talk and laugh with each other and come in and treat you like garbage. The doctors are the same. I am disgusted to even be here just have no other choice. I would never recommend this place to anyone...even if your on your death bed! read more

My 5 year old and his 16 yr old brother were playing 'chicken crossing the road' with a giant yoga ball. It was all fun and games until the chicken didn't make it and the 5 yr old was knocked onto the ground - injuring his arm. Concerned it was broken, we brought him to the emergency room. We were taken in right away and didn't have to wait for treatment. The staff was friendly, professional and responsive. Thanks so much! Oh, and btw, the arm was not broken. This hospital, being the only place in town without driving to Minden, Carson, or even Reno, is okay. I honestly try so hard to never have to go here. If anything is to happen among myself, a family member, or a friend, I assess the situation, and if the person isn't in a deadly position, we will go to Reno. The staff has been among the most rude, wait times feel like an eternity, and it's a very uncomfortable place to be. If you're in serious condition, and this is the only place you can go, then do. But if you need an ER or Hospital for a non-life threatening reason, go anywhere but here. You're more likely to die in this place even if you came in with a cold... read more
