My experience with Carstar was coercive, opaque, and financially damaging. After an accident, I was referred to Carstar by State Farm--not by choice. The car initially stalled while idling but worsened quickly (due to the accident) before my estimate appointment. It became unsafe to drive. Carstar arranged a tow without clearly informing me that it would be conditional upon authorizing repairs. I was explicitly told the tow was free. I only agreed to an estimate. Once they had the vehicle, they refused to include any internal or mechanical issues in the estimate--only cosmetic damage. When I asked about the stalling and unsafe driving condition (clearly related to the accident), they declined to assess it. They are now refusing to return the car unless I pay an unexpected and exorbitant towing/storage bill, despite me never approving that arrangement. They've threatened to sell the car to cover those charges. This experience has left me feeling manipulated--trapped between accepting incomplete repairs or losing my car entirely. This is not how insurance referrals or customer service should work. read more

I had my Honda repaired there. The staff were great! The collision work they did was awesome. The car looks brand new!

Ended up having to take my Mazda here after someone decided to hit my car in the middle of the night and flea the scene! I showed up exactly when my appointment was and they were pretty quick to see me. After pulling my car in I spent a few minutes talking with the person dealing with my claim. They looked at the car and showed me to the lobby where I was seated when they did all the exciting paperwork. After a few minutes I was called back in and the women explained to me what was going on, explained everything very thoroughly, and handed me a check to pay for the damage. My wife took her 2020 GMC Denali here for a minor cracked front bumper. I figured I had nothing to worry because it's just swapping the plastic out and putting the parking sensor back in. For the most part it looked fine when she brought it home after the repairs but I did notice some of the plastic didn't match up. I figured no big deal, I'll just give them a call and let them know. So they had me bring it in that same week and when I got there I said if it can be adjusted by the end of the day I'll just walk home and come back, no worry about a loaner car but the guy said let me look at it and I'll see if we can fix it quick. At this point I'm happy with their service. 15 min later the guy comes around with my car, gets out, forgets to put it in park so it starts to roll away until he jumps back in and puts it in park. No damage so fine whatever I just want to go about my day. He explains that they fixed the bracket so the gap around the headlight is fixed but when I asked about the two gaps where the bumper meet the hood he just says it's suppose to look like that. Now I'm sure in the picture you can see how ridiculous that sounds so I'm thinking this guy is going to make me go to the dealer and take pictures of the same vehicle to prove that that's not true. I ended up going to the dealer taking pictures but instead of going back to those hacks I just fixed it my self with a 7mm wrench and a torque bit... All fixed. If the guy wouldn't have treated me like an idiot and just fixed it this would have been a 5 star review because I know things happen and I'm a reasonable person. read more

They kept my car for 2 weeks now and they had it all part. They said it would be done on Tuesday but it wasn't. Now they saying the battery is completely shot and I would have to wait longer. I suggest taking ur car to north town they are really slow here. And the manager Shane was not helpful at all. He wouldn't release my car to me. read more

I used their online estimation because their hours happened to be my work hours and I couldn't bring the car in. I was asked for my vin number and mileage then they never replied to me again. I even emailed MIKE R. and said "I'm not trying to rush you but is their any more info you need for the estimation?". He has yet to reply as of nine days ago, needless to say I went with another company but MIKE R. is the reason for that. If you use them be sure to just avoid him. read more

My car was brought in after an accident on May 30th. I was told everything would be done by June 21 at the latest. After no communication my car was pushed to June 27 then June 29, July 2, July 5, July 15, July 20 and then I finally had my car returned to me on July 22nd after almost 2 months. Within a few days of having my car returned to me I learned the radio/stereo/bluetooth was broken and my sunroof was not functional. Both of those items were functional when I brought the car in. I was asked to wait a week and a half to bring my car in because "they were busy and would be able to get it done much faster if I waited" . After waiting to bring it in I brough my car back on August 3rd, with promises to have it back to me within a day or so. It is now August 12th and I still do not have my car back. I have asked on 4 separate occasions for an email update on my car, to which I have been unable to get someone to send me an update on my car. This is absolutely unacceptable. read more

While I was visiting Buffalo from Florida, a turn signal bulb in my BMW burned out, requiring an immediate replacement. I called around and CARSTAR Collision of Amherst offered me a very fair price and a next-day appointment (they needed to obtain the bulbs from BMW and it was already late in the afternoon). In fact, the price I was quoted was so fair, that I asked them to replace all four turn signal bulbs. When I arrived for my appointment, I was treated courteously and professionally. The service I requested was completed promptly and the price I paid was exactly what I was quoted. The treatment I received from CARSTAR Collision of Amherst was first-rate, at least as good as the service I have received in the past from BMW dealerships, maybe better than some. I was a very happy customer and I would not hesitate to recommend CARSTAR Collision of Amherst to my friends and family. read more
