Came back to give another review--had to get the exhaust on my car replaced due to it partially rusting off. Dan was super flexible in getting the car checked out and giving me a price, then allowing me to drop it off in the morning a few days later to pick it up later that afternoon since my work conflicted with getting it fixed the first day I dropped it off. I was a bit late in picking it up due to a ride issue, which ended up working out okay because the part I needed hadn't arrived yet. I did wait a while in the shop to pick up my car, but Dan was nice enough to give me a discount on the bill. The extra time I spent there wasn't really a big deal at all. They also did my friend's head gasket and timing belt repair on his Subaru about a year ago at the same time as my last review and did a fantastic job for a really good price. More recently, they fixed a part of my friend's electronics in his car in about an hour or so. Overall have been having pretty good experiences here and the mechanics are always very open to telling you what you should or shouldn't get fixed. These people were fine at first, but soon, they started trying to tell us the car needed more repairs. They tried to convince my husband he needed new wheel bearings which is a very expensive repair. When our regular mechanic came back from vacation my husband took the car to him. No repair was necessary. They did the same thing to my 21 year old grandson. They charged him over a $1,000 in unnecessary repairs, he needed a new tire that they wanted to charge him almost twice what he paid at Sam's. It's been 6 months since this happened and we've been to Florida and back and we still have had no problems. read more

Been using this shop for both our cars for a while now.. Dan has always been clear in explaining things and his prices have always been fair. Drop the car off at 8, usually get a call by noon-3 with estimate and pick it up at 5, unless it is extensive, then usually the next morning. Car Fix failed my vehicle for NYS Inspection on Aug 10th, 2020. Service writer Dan indicated that because I had a small exhaust leak before the catalytic converter, my emissions failed, even though my check engine light was not on, and all the monitors had run and passed. Dan quoted a repair price of $797.43 to pass NYS Inspection. I asked Dan to show me in the rules (NYS document CR-79) where it indicates a failed NYS Inspection due to an exhaust leak before the catalytic converter, to which Dan said he would get back to me....but he never did. Thus, I called Albany, and filed the official complaint form VS-35. It took several weeks, but I eventually received a call from Albany who then directed my case to the local DMV on Dingens Street. I had subsequently taken the same vehicle to another repair shop (just 1 mile south of Car Fix on the Blvd), who passed my vehicle with no issues. The Inspector from Dingens Street reviewed my claim, and personally inspected the vehicle Oct. 1st, 2020. It was extremely clear to the Inspector that Car Fix made an inaccurate NYS Inspection. I am currently awaiting my refund for this error made by Car Fix. I used to take my vehicles to Car Fix and never had any issues. However, this was my first interaction with Dan. Dan indicated that he has been with Car Fix since ~March 2020. I am extremely hesitant to go back to Car Fix with Dan making incorrect suggestions or recommendations, especially ones that are so basic like not knowing/understanding a NYS Inspection. You would think someone like Dan, who claims to have 30+ years of experience with NYS Inspections, would know the rules inside and out. Or maybe Dan was just trying to upcharge a costly exhaust repair at my expense, which was never needed to begin with to receive a passing NYS Inspection. To the owner of Car Fix, the most recent interactions with your auto repair shop and specifically with Dan, have helped me to find a different and better Auto Repair shop than yours. Took my car here to get the front alignment checked. I told them multiple times to only look at the front end, I did the lower control arms the day prior and the car is on lowering springs, lowered one inch. Dropped the car off at 10am. Got a call at noon saying my tie rod jam nuts were seized, so they were going to charge me for two extra hours of labor. The mechanic also talked about the rear camber and how screwed it was, meaning my car would never be aligned properly (the mechanics words, not mine). I was told my concern was with rear camber. That is obviously not the case, as I have said the opposite. I was very clear: check the front alignment only. I have no other issues. Only check the front alignment. Don't worry about the rear. The rear of my car is completely fine, there is slight camber which naturally is a little negative due to lowering the car, but it is not out of spec. I was asked about other issues over and over after I said that, to which I responded clearly to only do the front alignment. Loosening the jam nut is part of doing an alignment, so charging extra labor for a normal part of an alignment is not okay. After being asked the same questions over and over, and them not being receptive to what I was asking them to do to my car, I will not be going here again. I walked in with the wrong attitude, and was not very nice to the guy at the desk, but the fact that they tried getting two hours of labor out of me and would not be receptive to me asking for just a front alignment is not cool. Do not recommend if you work on your own car. read more

Being a single mom of two, and being out of work on disability due to a car accident where I got injured pretty badly, all I needed was for my car to breakdown on me during this time, and of course, that's exactly what happened. With my children in the car no less. I called Craig at Carfix auto honestly on a whim. I had never heard of them before, let alone done any business with them. I had to take a chance on them and let me tell you, I am so glad that I did. I called them the next afternoon and Craig answered the phone. Totally panicked, I gave him the low down. He very patiently listened to everything I had to say, which was a whole lot. He responded with kindness and understanding. He sent a tow truck right over to my house only a couple of hours later. When they took a look at my car, he made sure to call me to let me know everything he was doing before he did it to make sure I was ok with it. Not only did this place do a fantastic job on my car, but they have a few things that most places lack. Empathy, kindness, and he is completely trustworthy and honest. It would've been so easy for him to take advantage of a woman like me, which sadly has happened to me several times. Not Craig. He was very honest, straight forward, and so incredibly helpful. He is my hero. He made this very scary experience run so much smoother for me. He completely put my mind at ease and reassured me every step of the way. I won't take my car anywhere else from here on out. I was completely blown away by my entire experience with this place. I strongly recommend coming here for all your car repair needs. Went in for an inspection, they had it inspected in less than a half hour, informed me I would need tires soon and gave me a quote with 2 different types of tires but without pressure to do it today. Super friendly. Will definitely call them when I need work done. read more

I live in the neighborhood so I watched this place develop until opening. I managed to run over a bolt in my travels, creating a bit of a situation for my tire. No problem for these guys. I dropped the tire off, they repaired it, changed it and got me on my way in no time. Great staff, good prices. read more

I went the first time today for a oil change only with coupon for $29. As I waited they reapeatedly tried to sell me things I didn't ask for, UGH. Allignment New brakes for $750 ouch. tire rotation etc. Upon check out, the bill was $52. I questioned this and he said I had a good eye and took $14 off for the tire rotation I did not receive. By time I got home 1 mile away the rear air diffuser was dragging. I took it back they claim they didn,t take it off. Many you tube videoes show the oil pan drain bolt is under this. They claim is not their fault a mere coincidence that two bolts would fall out within 1 mile from the oil change. They used zip ties to secure it and said these bolts are are very expensive and they could get a price for me! Holy Crap. I had to leave because my anger and frustration was winning. They lied to me, tried to sell me things I did not want, tried to charge me for things I did not get, lost very expensive bolts and tried to sell me the repair that they obviously did, I will not be treated that stupid for simply being a costomer. I will never go back, and highly recommend anyone who reads this does the same. Shame on you read more
