Over the years I have had routine cleanings, dental work, and ongoing care here, and I have always been treated professionally and respectfully. I have never felt pressured into unnecessary procedures, and any treatment recommendations were explained clearly to me. No office is perfect, and I cannot speak to other people's experiences, but based on my own decade-plus experience, I trust this practice and the staff here. I think that is worth sharing as well.

She said "well, it's on the occlusal surface so you can't see it on the x-ray. She nor the dentist offered to show me in their dental mirror. Also, it is impossible to see this tooth's surface in a wall mirror. I had no pain and no sensitivity. I went to another dentist to check it out, and the tooth was not crumbling, it was healthy, intact, and just fine. As a former dental assistant, I was appalled that any dentist would lie, and risk drilling a tooth down to a peg for unnecessary treatment to benefit his wallet. Dr. Block was friendly but that's is as far as it goes. After he performed UNNECESSARY surgery on…read moremy mouth I ended up with not 1, not 2 but THREE major infections. I spent MONTHS recovering from his !@#@$ work. I ended up with three different abcesses in my mouth, on antibiotics for weeks and then IV antibiotics for several weeks after that. 9 months later I continued to have problems with the area he destroyed. I had a root canal that did not help so finally this summer a wonderful surgeon removed my tooth. I am now left with NO tooth right in front of my mouth (my eye tooth #11). I had to spend $3000 extra to fix his poor work. I had to have additional surgery, tooth removal, a $600 oral appliance to wear for 6 months before i go back in and spend another $2k to have a dental implant placed. When I arrived at Dr. Blocks office the staff did nothing to ensure that risk of infection was minimized. My new oral surgeon had me rinse with an oral antibacterial rinse right before the surgery, for 2 weeks after and oral antibiotics. I was sent home with pain meds, antibiotics and the oral wash. NON of which were provided by Dr. Blocks office. Their finance department that is supposed to obtain prior authorizations for procedures lied to me as well. They told me that my medical insurance would cover the procedure but low an behold they didnt! I have been fighting with a collection agency for several months now for the remaining balance of $570 to Dr. Block as I do not feel I should have to pay this because of all of the pain and suffering I went through. The finance department hung up on me when I explained my situation and how upset I was, instead of trying to resolve it like an adult. I would highly suggest you steer as far away from Dr. Block and his team as possible!

Regardless of this fact, Northern Star is absolutely taking advantage of their clients and overcharging on all fronts and the photos- the first one being an estimate from a VIRAL consultation with northern star on August 14th, 2020, and the second photo being from an In-person consultation I just had today with Dakota Valley in Burnsville- pretty much speak for themselves. As you can see from the first photo, Northern Star wanted to code two of my lower wisdom teeth as 'completely bony impacted'. I don't claim to be a dentist or claim to have the knowledge an oral surgeon has, but 'completely bony impacted', if you look it up, literally simply means "a tooth is completely inside of the bone and has not erupted through the gum," as in, it is not able to be seen in the mouth..... both of my lower wisdom teeth that they were claiming were "completely bony impacted" were visible in my mouth and had erupted through the gums. Another very questionable aspect was the fact that northern star tried to tell me that my four wisdom teeth would take 45 mins to 1 hr to extract, which meant they would get to charge me for a whole lot more for general anesthesia. The place I just had a consultation today told me, max, the entire procedure will take FIFTEEN MINUTES, because both the top teeth were a simple extraction and the bottom two, one was surgical completely erupted and the other is surgical partially bony. Northern Star mistook me for a young, naive 25 year old who wouldn't be bothered to do my own research or question what they were coding my wisdom tooth extraction as, which in essence, would've meant I would be getting charged ALOT more. Oh well- they lost a client and maybe this review will make them think twice about trying to FRAUDULENTLY miscode in order to overcharge unassuming clientele. DO YOUR RESEARCH.
