We've always been going to Cartimar to buy accessories and food for our growing horde of pets, since it's always been cheaper there, and well worth it to brave the nearly non-existent parking spaces. I don't know who's managing this place, but it only grows more and more derelict every time I visit the place.
As a REAL animal lover (not the kind who only likes to look at puppies because they are cute and ignore everything else) it hurts to see many of the animals in Cartimar to be kept in such conditions. Most of the dogs and cats are only kept in small, 3x3 feet cages, and sometimes not even alone! The better the breeds are, they areof course taken care better because of the money they will bring in. Don't even ask about the state of the bunnies, gerbils and hamsters! They're overcrowded, and under/overfed, cages barely being cleaned, without even being let out so they could stretch their legs.
I know that these people are just trying to make a living but-- really, at the very least, please take care of the animals! They don't deserve such rough and callous treatment. And I've also heard of people selling endangered animals here, which is ILLEGAL by the way! Especially for the marine animals and fishes there, it's so easy for people to overlook them.
Bottom line: don't support Cartimar. Any pet you buy here will just encourage the bad treatment of animals. I would suggest adopting from PAWS or CARA if you really want a pet. Make sure to spay or neuter them, and take care of them!! A pet is a life long commitment. Make sure that you're not just going on the bandwagon so you can post cute photos of your puppy on instagram. :( read more
