My event production company hired Dave for a client's carnival event on a last minute request. He was quick to get back to me with a quote, worked fast to get all business required documentation like business licensing and insurance. He was very communitive with me on day of event about his arrival. At the event he was talkative and engaging with all guest both young and old. Dave was one of the many amazing additions at the Yelp Midsummer Nights event. So many Yelpers were lined up for one of his caricatures, and of course, I had to be one of them! Being that I have never had one done in the past, this was my chance. After waiting for over an hour, Michael B. And I finally got our chance. The whole time he was drawing he filled us with laughter, the passion and love he had for his life and even shared some fun facts with the both of us. It was so much fun that we completely forgot about the dreadful wait. As soon as he turned the drawing we bursted with laughter! We laughed from the time he handed it to us until we got to our car in the parking lot. It was priceless. We hired Dave for my daughter's 13 th birthday . She missed 2 birthday parties because of CoVid restrictions. So we went all out! Dave is very professional. Came in , went right to work . It was a backyard party Carnival theme. He personalized his drawings by printing the event at the bottom. So everyone got to take home a little keepsake of our birthday celebration. It was this or a Photo Booth. But I'm glad and so is everyone else . We got to experience being turned into a cartoon. I highly recommend him. For any special event. My guests were very pleased. What a guy! Just met Dave an hour ago at a bridal show and he was great. It's been nearly 5 years exactly to this day that my fiancé and I have had a caricature together... so it was awesome to have him offer a free drawing. I have kept this beautiful caricature of my husband (then-boyfriend) and I and have loved it with all of my heart since it was drawn at our Grad Night back in 2011. Being a high schooler, I didn't pay attention to much of anything at the time but when I got home I was so absolutely struck by how Dave managed to capture us. We look exactly like our caricatures!! He even seemed to capture the innocence in our eyes. Our wedding guests loved having Dave there drawing caricatures!!! The line was so long, he ended up working an hour longer than we originally hired him for without us having to ask him. With a number of caricatures from our parent's weddings in the 80s, it was important for us to have the same experience at our wedding. We were immediately drawn to Dave's colorful, imaginative, and technically skillful drawings from weddings and other events across San Diego. We knew his presence would bring a nice break during the event, but were pleasantly surprised as the line to Dave's table grew longer as the night went on. Nearly every one of our friends and family members had a personalized caricature and (nearly) everyone had a good enough sense of humor to find their portrayal amusing. There was constantly a small party gathered around Dave throughout the evening, partaking in the sharing of stories and offering witty comments about the drawings. I personally am not a fan of caricatures but Dave struck me with his love of his craft.
