At a…read morerestaurant of this caliber, where the dining experience comes at a premium, we expected service to match. Unfortunately, it fell far short of what one would reasonably expect from a fine dining establishment. My husband and I had a very disappointing experience here this evening, especially considering the price point. We spent $200 on a mussel appetizer, halibut, and lobster, expecting a fine dining experience--but the service fell far below that standard. As people in recovery sober for over three and a half years, we specifically ordered virgin drinks, yet were served mussels prepared in a wine-based sauce recommended by the server. I also received the wrong drink twice. Most frustrating of all, we waited over an hour for our entrées while a nearby table of six was seated, served, and finished their meal before ours even arrived. When we tried to understand what maybe taking place behind the scenes and asked if they were short staffed with the chefs in the kitchen. We were met with rudeness and told our seafood needed its own ovens to cook in. For being the only ones in the restaurant filled with a horrible ambience I can see why others have said the same. It's always best to check the reviews. They may just favor locals. We were truly looking forward to this meal, but left feeling disappointed and overlooked. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant and would advise others to dine elsewhere.

The chowder was delicious and I also thoroughly enjoyed the other seafood. The prime rib was okay although I think I would pass on land next time and just get seafood here! Service is very friendly although takes a little time - the vibe is a small town family run restaurant. The interior is very cute and romantic with great waterfront views. The only qualm I had about the interior is that there were a distracting number of fruit flies (I think I had 3-4 that died in a single beer). Hopefully they can install a fly trap or something as it did detract from the lovely interior. Overall I would happily return if I'm in the area for more seafood.

What was most off-putting, however, wasn't even the food. It was watching the chef openly berate our waitress over issues with the food--food that he was ultimately responsible for preparing. Watching a staff member be spoken to that way, especially in front of guests, was incredibly uncomfortable and overshadowed the entire evening. A disappointing meal is one thing, but the way people are treated matters just as much. We left with more than just a bad taste in our mouths, and unfortunately, what should have been a lovely evening became memorable for all the wrong reasons

Yelp maps said it was more than 2 kilometres away, so not sure what happened there. Moxies did not disappoint, and our server Shaye was absolutely excellent. Outgoing, friendly and very good at what she did. Even took the time to make sure K's veggies were cooked on the more well done side that she prefers. Kudos to the kitchen also, for making it happen, small details matter. Her steak was cooked perfectly, and the mashed potatoes very nice. My Beet salad was very well made although I prefer my beets to be a little more al dente. The blackened chicken was good, if perhaps a little over. I believe they use a seasoned breast, which is not my favourite. Our beverages were nicely made, that said wine is difficult to mess up, but a good martini is not easy. The decor is typical Moxies, they are all pretty much the same. That said familiarity is often comforting, and we certainly felt that way. We will be back for sure.

Served with baby zucchini, roasted heirloom carrots. The Cobb salad was very different than any Cobb I have had before. It was an iceberg head halved wedge style topped with whole slices of bacon, croutons, heirloom tomatoes, feta, avocados, capers, hard boiled egg halves with an interesting yolk filling, a tasty white sauce with a slab of grilled salmon on top. It was a very nice change. Dined in a spacious lounge off set from the crowded main room suggested by the host. Service was 5 star and it was excellent way to spend lunch.

Our dinner in December was a mixture of excellent service and very average food. This time we ate dinner elsewhere but stopped in for breakfast on our departure day, and boy do we wish we hadn't. The lovely K was on a call so I went down and ordered our breakfasts, she poached soft eggs, me sunny up. Both crispy bacon, potatoes and toast. We were the only people in the place at 9:40 AM which should be an obvious red flag. Our previous experience had me concerned, but our timeline dictated it was this place or nothing until the ferry, which is not really an option either. The crispy bacon was fatty and swimming in bacon grease, the potatoes tasted off, the poached eggs very nice, my sunny up had a good skin on them, obviously under the warmer while eggs were poached. The toast almost crumbled when bitten into. Peanut butter and jam were asked for, and delivered. The peanut butter was fine, but the jam was so runny it wouldn't stick to the knife. I ate the eggs and the toast and left everything else as did K. I can't express how bad it was. Our waitress was out setting tables in the attached tent while people waited to be sat. One gentleman actually sat himself, I mentioned he may want to go elsewhere. Hated to do that, but........ We spoke to our server and she was very apologetic, and it looked like the apology was a common refrain. We will for sure stay at the hotel again, but will not set foot in that restaurant again, I'd rather go hungry.

Don't Sleep on This Spot…read more Let me just start by saying: Thursday night at The Beach Club Restaurant might be my new favorite holiday. If you've never experienced their Prime Rib special, cancel your plans next Thursday and make a reservation. Seriously. I'll wait. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was pure vacation, chill, relaxed, and classy without being stuffy. The entire staff, including our server, were knowledgeable, friendly, and the kind of folks who makes you want to order everything they recommend... which I pretty much did. We kicked things off with oysters that tasted like they'd just been plucked from the ocean by Poseidon himself--so fresh and delicious. Drinks? Let's just say I every single one my husband and I had were refreshing and delicious. I'm not saying they were life-changing, but I am saying I briefly considered asking the bartender for career advice. Now, let's talk Prime Rib. It came out looking like a centerfold from a beef magazine, perfectly cooked and paired with a Yorkshire pudding that was so legit, I half expected a British grandmother to come out and give me a hug. Fluffy, golden, and big enough to qualify for its own zip code. Dessert? Of course we had dessert. At that point, I was basically committed. Beautifully presented and sinfully good, just like everything else. 10/10 would recommend. In fact, I already have. Don't sleep on this place. But if you do overeat (which you will), at least you'll sleep happy.

The place is a round log frame building that is quite spectacular inside of you are a log fan. This time of year in Parksville is pretty quiet, most places make hay in the summer and shutter for the slow season All of our food was delicious, prepared with care. Now to be fair there was hardly anyone in the place other than us five, so the kitchen wasn't slammed with people. That all said we enjoyed a wonderful, if somewhat pricey dinner, that would bring us back again!

He asked if we had called earlier and we said no. He said he had a table but he would need it for a 7pm booking they had and if that was ok. It was about 530 so that was plenty of time for us to finish and we accepted the table. We ordered seafood chowder, oyster Rockefeller, seafood sampler, and a lobster tail. Everything we had tasted wonderful. The rice pilaf that came with the sampler was cooked perfectly. Beautiful rice separation, nice mixture of celery, carrots, wild rice and either leek or onion; nicely seasoned. The halibut and salmon were cooked nicely and had a lovely cream sauce. Veggies nice and al dente. Oyster Rockefeller tasty and fresh. Lobster cooked beautifully, was tender and with hot butter to dip was lush. Seafood chowder was the right texture and consistency, not too thin not to thick and enough seafood to be proud of its name. For dessert the special of the night was a flourless chocolate torte served with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. That was delicious, not overly sweet and had a nice chocolate flavour and texture was nice and smooth. The service was impeccable, water was always filled and the manager or another server always asked if every thing was alright and or if we were happy. But also you can see with how busy it was they would go off to tend other tables. That being said the fact they take the time to ask and make sure you are taken care of is awesome. I've been to fine dining where the serve disappears and doesn't ever ask how things are until like the last 10 minutes. Overall for an impromptu dinner here we were pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I would recommend dining here if your in the area, reservations might be best as this was a Monday and they were packed.
