I've been going to Ray at Casa Caballero Salon about every 6 weeks for approximately three years. Always ALWAYS leave happy! I don't write many reviews but felt compelled to do so, especially after my visit today. Honestly speaking, have never ever had a bad experience there. Ray is definitely an experienced, knowledgeable stylist, very meticulous and fabulous at cutting and color with highlights and extensions as well. His assistant Michelle (also amazing) always greets with a smile and bends over backwards to accommodate any way she can w scheduling, etc. So happy I found them! read more

If you want your ears and neck colored with your hair at the same time, you need to go see Carly at Casa R. Caballero. She didn't noticed a glob of black dye in the back of my ears and neck then she is NOT a good beautician. And don't even bother talking to the owner Ray because he is NOT going to give you anything back for your time and inconvenience after I tipped this girl more than 20% for her service. He even says he trained her. Maybe he needs to retrain. I am not a beautician but even I know that is NOT good business to have your customer travel 30-45 minutes to take care of something that a good beautician should have noticed when I was in the salon. I came to this place with a groupon to get a shellac mani and regular pedi. I first had the pedicure done which was great except that the nail tech only used the pumice stone on my heel, she missed the ball of my feet. I had to point it out to her and ask her if she could go over that spot. Then I went on to the manicure. This is where I pretty much made up my mind that I will not be coming back to this place. My hands were not soaked in water to cut my cuticles. All she did was apply an oil to my nails. I began to bleed as she started cutting my cuticles and she did not bother to apply anything nor remove it causing the blood to leak throughout my whole nail. The application of the nail polish was one of the worst I have seen. It came out blotchy and uneven since she missed the sides of my nails. She tried to correct her mistakes by applying more nail polish instead of taking it off and starting all over again. The shellac barely lasted 2 weeks. The coral color I had picked started to turn yellow and the nail polish began to chip. read more

Ray Caballero has been my hairdresser for the past 20 years and never given me a bad haircut or color job. So I decided to treat my 6 year old grandson to a "grown up" haircut from his grandmothers hairdresser, Ray Caballero. I am so happy that I did. Ray created the trendy haircut my grandson was looking for & the easy care style for my daughter insisted on. Both grandson & his mom were delighted with the results. Ray gave the same amount of attention to detail with my grandson's haircut as he does with any style he creates and the price he charged for a kids cut was very reasonable. I have such respect for him as a hairdresser for always giving 100% of his talents no matter who the client is. Ray, Aiden says a big thank you for giving his cool new haircut. I have been a client for several years. Horacio always take care of me. I love that he knows exactly what I want and how I want my hair done. Can't imagining going anywhere else or letting anyone else do my hair. There are other services offered at the salon, but honestly I haven't tried them so I can't comment on them. If I could do zero stars, I would. Stay away from this place! i should have known better when I called to make our appointments and the receptionist seemed annoyed that I was calling. I had a groupon and asked to make 2 appointments as my mom and I were going for a girls' day of pampering. Even though I called over a week ahead, she couldn't (or wouldn't) schedule us at the same time so we were scheduled back to back. I don't even know our "stylist's" name as she never introduced herself. I explained to her what my mom wanted (as my mom has a thick accent) and even showed her a picture so there would be no misunderstandings. She seemed annoyed because she thought she was only doing a wash and style. When I told her we were scheduled for a wash, cut and style she said "well I don't know if I'll have time" I told her that's what we made the appointment for. After less than 45 minutes (even though each appointment was scheduled for 1 hr) my mom came out visibly upset. Her cut was not what she wanted. She was not happy and explained again what she wanted and all the 'stylist' could say was maybe they could fix it next time. The owner witnessed all this and did nothing. I was reluctantly up next. I made sure to tell her EXACTLY what I wanted. Well, I didn't get what I wanted either. Both my mom and I ended up with uneven haircuts. I don't know if it was a lack of experience (or annoyance because we were using groupons) but she did a terrible job. I tried to call to speak to the owner about it but was basically laughed at and told he was busy. We ended up having to go somewhere else to get it evened out. I will never go back to this place. This place is a joke. I don't know how they stay in business, maybe hair salon is good, I have never tried that part of the establishment. Bought a Groupon that was for 3 shellac manicures and regular pedicures. The big comfy vibrating, massaging chairs that we all look forward to parking our butts in while we get our feet pampered were broken on the first visit. Initially they had 2 women scheduled with back to back appointments all day. First visit broken chair, manicurist that spoke English, but not to me, poor pedicure and filed my nails ( and they are long) after she polished them. I watched with envy the patrons that were receiving treatments from the other woman. I call to make second appointment with the other manicurist, she is booked for weeks, they are so busy because of Groupon. I return and see the same woman I had the first time. Same problems including broken chair. On my way out I make my last appointment with the manicurist that everyone is enjoying and having fun with. A few days before my scheduled appointment, the spa calls and needs to reschedule my mani-pedi. Okay no problem. I go in for my third and final Groupon appointment only to find out they are short staffed and that is why they had to reschedule. The good manicurist had quit! I am not surprised, but so disappointed I have to have this same lame manicurist for a third time. Oh, chairs never got fixed and if they are still open in a year, I am willing to bet chairs still won't work. Alas, my ground hog mani-pedi nightmare has come to an end! What's a girl to do? I just love a good mani-pedi, especially if the pedicure is like an hour long. read more

I had a groupon for all over hair color, a wash, cut, and style. I had an appointment and arrived ten minutes early. They were able to take me right away, which is always nice. The girl who did my hair is named Claire and I can't say enough good things about her. I wasn't sure what color to do my hair so she asked a bunch of questions and made some sugestions. I ended up getting my roots touched up and 5 highlights added for $25. When it was time for the cut she did exactly what I wanted (barely a trim since I want to grow it out, and long layers added). I was with her for just over two hours. She's very sweet and pleasant. I would definitely go out of my way to have an appointment with Claire again. The salon itself is really cute and spacious, I like the setting there. I was very happy with my cut & color and will definitely go again. read more

First time with this team getting my hair and highlights done. It was a spontaneous idea, so I just walked in hoping they have a "window" time. We carefully chose my haircut which was a major change for me (from shoulder length to short hair and bangs). And then I also decided to do partial highlights! Service is great! Just used my Groupon today for partial highlights, trim and style. Very nervous since you never know who you're getting. My hairstylist was Saria. I had about 6 inches of dark hair and rest was blonde highlights. After being so nervous of not knowing what to expect, I couldn't be happier with my results. She did a beautiful partial highlights where you can't tell where she started or ended the highlights. She listened to me when it came to trimming and gave some suggestions. I had my hair cut and went back two weeks later for highlights and wsa given a price. I had shown the ower a picture of the color that I wanted and it did not match. With hair above my neck, he snipped a few hairs after hightlighting and charged me for another haircut, after the fact. Within 48 hours, I called and left a message stating it was not the color in the picture that I had shown him. No REPONSE OR RETURN CALL. Unknown to me, are comments are his website compilmenting my haircut. I think that he can get in troulble for that, other than being deceitiful. I was very disappointed with this salon. One of the worst highlights and haircut I've gotten in awhile. The hair stylist was nice, but she really did an awful job with my hair. I had to go in twice because she said "my hair didn't work the way she had hoped". I wasn't happy with the highlights or the haircut, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and waited until my next appointment a couple weeks later to finish the job she started (which I had to pay extra for). The first thing I told her was that I was not happy with the way she cut my bangs and that I wanted some style to it. So she grabs her scissors and just cuts off a little chunk. Honestly, I could have done that. Then she goes on to the hair coloring and by the time she was done, my hair was VERY dry and I had 4-5 different colors in my hair. Even her styling was awful. I can do a better job straightening my own hair. Just looked like a terrible hair job, but she was so impressed with it. I have dyed my hair many times and it has NEVER been that dry. She used some sort of strong bleach to dye my hair and I did NOT want that. Today, I went to a new hair salon and they fixed my hair with the hydration I needed and I was very happy. This confirmed that I was not going crazy and that I DID get a terrible hair job at Casa R. Caballero Salon. I will never go back. read more

I can only advise or comment on the nail portion of the salon. My wife was just there for her 10am appointment, via a GROUPON , yes a COUPON for those unfamiliar with this name. I had dropped her off and waited for her to be attended.First her nail tech was 10 min late, not a good start , but we all have off days. Next thing I know, I pick her up and she was almost in tears and angry at me, cause I advised her to tip well, since she came in with coupon. She told me her experience was brutal. The tech did a messy job and when she politely asked for a touch up on the missed areas, she was reminded that she came in with a GROUPON, and that they were not well compinsated for such clientel. Not knowing that she had intended to leave a good tip. She was also asked if she has ever had this service before, cause she prematurely removed her hands away. And was instructed that , "I will tell you when I'm done and not to move before I tell you". I feel that maybe there was a communication error between the two, but after reading the previous reviews and hearing from others that received the same treatment. PLEASE , do not, give them your business, until they learn to provide a better Customer Service. read more

Love this salon! It's in an older refurbished house, so cute. The staff is always friendly and personal service has never been lacking. For red, curly or thinning hair, you've GOT to see Clair. Well what can I say... they know what they are doing. They did a great job on my highlights in a very short time which I loved. My only negative is that I felt the service was not great. I went in later in the day and felt rushed like the stylist had to leave. I don't know, for the price which was more that I've ever paid for highlights I expected a better service, but them again they did a great job on the actual highlights. Weeks later I made another appointment went in and again stylist was a no show. Another stylist felt bad for me but only had time for haircut when my groupon was color,cut and style. They offered me a free eye wax she took a large piece of my eyebrow off. But what made it worse was the owner( Ray I believe) was being updated on what was going on. Came in and was told I wanted to speak to him and he completely avoided me. My point, your employees will never have great customer service if as an owner you don't set an example. I also got the Groupon but my experience was very positive. I was able to book my appointment the very next day for my cut and style. The place is not fancy but it is cute and off the beaten path. It appeared clean but some of the furnishings look a little worn, or well lived in like a grandma's house. My stylist Becky was very friendly, calm and professional; She gave me a terrific cut and took her time with my style. I believe she gave me the same level of service and attention that she would give to any client groupon on not. I was impressed with her more than anything else so I rebooked with her. I can see that some people might have issue with the customer service. The lady at the front desk, while nice, was also a little brisk. I think she may come across a little strong at times, especially if there is an issue. Thankfully I had no problems booking my appointment or with the service I received. My visit was just ok. I'm new in Tampa and trying to find a good hair stylist. I bought a Groupon for a woman's haircut and the email I received from Groupon stated to call or go online to make an appointment. I went online and selected 3 preferable times for my appointment and listed that I had a groupon discount and was confirmed within 48 hours. When I arrived at the salon I was a tad underwhelmed as it seems to be a little run down with older equipment. I'm not sure of my stylists name but the cut I received was not what I wanted and I now have to go elsewhere to have it corrected. After my cut I wanted to purchase some products but the stylist made remarks insinuating that I didn't know how to style my own hair and would likely not know how to use the products I was interested in purchasing. I've never had a stylist try to discourage me from spending MORE money. I finally settled on a product and walked to the receptionist where I presented my groupon. Instead of ASKING me if I had mentioned the Groupon when I made an appointment she automatically assumed that I didn't and said "next time please mention your groupon before making an appointment." I said that I had made an appointment online using the discount option and before I could even finish that statement she began talking over me saying "it's fine. it's fine." as if she wanted to rush me out.
