I dont know about Mexican food and Tennessee. Being from the southwest where you have Arizona, New Mexico and Texas where we know good Mexican food. Funny how they label it "tex mex" but no where close to it. I ordered a chili relleno and you know how the egg batter is coated, well there was none only red sauce. Casa Mexicana is a go-to Mexican food spot in Shelbyville. They have good Horchata, strong margaritas in frozen or on the rocks. The fajitas are delicious and "camarones (Shrimp) a la diabla" is spicy yet yummy if you are daring. The service is always fast for us and the waiters are friendly. Things got off to move bit of a slow start, took us a little while to get seated in a little while, for the waiter to finally come over and asked us what we wanted to drink but after that, everything was pretty darn good. Their margaritas are outstanding. I had the fajita burrito without cheese sauce and my wife had two enchiladas one beef and one chicken. The food is excellent. It's a very quaint Mexican restaurant, good decor, and music. The only thing that was lacking was a little bit of speedier service of getting waited on and getting our food. Food selection was really good and a bit different from the usual. I had the poblano pepper stuffed with steak, covered with cheese. Really good. The only negative which is actually a pretty big one, the salsa, guacamole, and the cheese dips were much too salty. Somebody really got carried away with the salt. I'm a salt lover so for me to notice how too salty an item is will qualify that opinion. But the ambiance is great, the service is outstanding, and in the past the food has been perfect. We were very impressed with the changes under the new management. Like the open floor plan on the inside with the new colors and updates. The portions are generous, and it's very reasonably priced. They are very generous with chips, and the salsa is yummy, not too chunky, not too watery. Good service. Only recommendation is to have a little bit of music playing. Don't play it loud like Titos but a little background music on the outdoor patio would be nice. Definitely will be going back! read more

10/20/18 Just stopped in again for the lunch buffet with ANOTHER friend from Murfreesboro who had never been... and ANOTHER FIVE STAR REVIEW! It's great to be remembered when you've not been in ages! I was informed they had a NEW menu... pictures to be posted below... and if y'all have read the original review you will remember my gal let me take one home so I could do an accurate posting of what they offer... once again... I've taken one home!!! These lovely people are truly customer service oriented and only want the best for those who walk through the doors. (I'll return it posthaste!) I'm back on low carb, as I had to take some steroids and gained some poundage... cancer sucks... so I avoided the goodlicious chips, taco bowls, tortillas, etc. HOWEVER... I still had a scrumptious lunch of their chicken, beef, pork, veggies, etc., that were on the buffet along with some shredded cheese and salsa. Did NOT blow my carb or calories even though I went back TWICE! Yep. Twice. Kim got a taco bowl, and went back because she forgot there was pork... LOL! Great food... great service... great prices. I ordered lots of jalapeño peppers to be added, and the guacamole removed... I know, crazy, right? Sorry, y'all... I'm allergic. Feel free to leave yours on. I heard from the other three at the table it was delish. Plenty of beef and veggies, cheese, sour cream and chips. Nice and hot! Once we had finished gorging ourselves, the crew descended upon the table, bearing a black and gold sombrero (gorgeous!), a set of maracas for me to rattle as they sang, and a gorgeous desert with ice cream on top of a flattened and fried thing covered in cinnamon sugar, all topped in spots with whipped cream drizzled with chocolate... I must confess I forgot the name of this dessert. The elder handsome gentleman attempted to pretend to feed me whipped cream as they sang so he could get it on my face.... LMAO! I did get one of the guys to take a pic of me in the sombrero, and I took one of the dessert. I also got a shot of their buffet hours, etc., on the way out. All in all, a pretty darn good birthday dinner! (It's a shame I didn't get to keep that sombrero... August 28th... Just went back today for their lunch buffet... took a friend and her just over a year old son. I was greeted by the owner like an old friend, and hadn't been there in ages! We wanted to try the buffet, and it's not a bad one at all... it's got everything from taquitos to make it yourself tacos, burritos and taco bowls. There were enchiladas, rice, refried beans, and all manner of toppings and meats. The staff was cheerful and accommodating as always. They love children and bent over backwards to make sure my friend's little boy had whatever it was he needed... he went in cranky and ended up happy and dancing in the high chair to the music that plays! The sopapilla I ordered made both of them EXTREMELY happy with the whipped creme, chocolate drizzles and ice cream on the sugary pastry dough... yum, yum, YUM!!! I think they both over indulged on that... I'm lucky I got a bite or two... and I bet BOTH take a nap when they get home! I got pics of the lunch menu finally, and noticed a flyer taped to the wall of the booth for a Tuesday night "Battle Bingo" at 6:30 pm, that's free to play... gift cards for winners, and individual or team play. Sounds like it might be fun for bingo lovers! This place still gets my FIVE STARS... and I'm posting pics now to show the menu and the buffet... and a couple of my friend and her kiddo... wish I could post the video of him dancing in the high chair... adorable! read more

I do NOT recommend this place to anyone. The service was poor! Waitress waited on other people that came in after us. Did not get served until 1-1/2 hrs later. Waitress told us original cook was out sick in hospital and got a new cook who is not good! Refried beans were cold, looked like throw up and tasted awful! I have eaten at much better restaurants! I came just after the lunch rush. The food was good and the service excellent. I would say try this place. You should like it.

We have been in here at least 5 times in the past three weeks. Their Chile relleno is really good. We have ordered it the same way EVERY time! Chile relleno with beef and cheese with queso instead of red sauce. Same way every time, same price every time. But last night they charged extra for the queso. And they overcharged me for cheesy rice with shrimp. When we pointed this out, all we got was attitude from the cashier. We reminded her that she just waited on us two days ago for the same order and didn't charge extra for queso. Needless to say, we won't be back! read more

Classmates and I occasionally go there on our lunch break and as far as the food goes, it's fine. But as far as the service and management; awful. 2/5 times that I've eaten there the manager has confused the orders and made someone pay for a meal that has already been paid for. Food is fine, but you might end up paying for something that you didn't actually purchase. Would not recommend. I would must rather spend my time/money going to Alfonso's beside Roses. read more
