Arrived in Manchester, TN later than planned. Was in need of a quick yet satisfying dinner before getting back on the road. This dish checked ALL the boxes. We live near this place and drive past it constantly. And on a Sunday most places are closed , so we opted to give it a try. We got seated right away even though they had a good lunch crowd going on. They have a lot of choices for lunch and the prices are reasonable. The waitress was great and was attentive to our needs . We were going to have fajitas which for a little over 10 bucks sounded good. But we started with a menu sampler which came with an assortment of their offerings . Wings , flautas, Mexican eggrolls, quesadillas. And chips with cheese and refried beans. After we ate that ,we had no room for the main course . There's alot of food and for 16 bucks worth it for two people. The restaurant is big and seats a lot of people . We will get here again to try more of the menu. read more

El Molcajete Mexican Restaurant has a nice ambiance to it and the service was very good. Unfortunately, the food that I tried was pretty lackluster. I will say that the table across from me had some impressive looking food come out. I ordered a burrito verde and they had a special of adding a single enchilada on for $1.25. The burrito was small and the meat was bland. The enchilada was no better and the sauce did not possess the beautiful complexity that Mexican food should possess. Even the chips and salsa seemed store bought. Again, my server was excellent, but tonight's dinner was a bit of a letdown. The tacos delivered to the table next to me looked good though For now, I can only give it three stars. read more

My friend found this place on Door Dash and it certainly exceeded expectations. It did by so much in fact that we ordered from this place twice during our stay in Manchester. Meal 1 is pictured. My friend wasn't feeling well so she just ordered some rice and noshed on chips and guacamole. The large is LARGE! It needed a bit more lime and salt but was otherwise good. Chips were fresh & crunchy but went stale rather quickly in this humidity so eat fast! I ordered the vegetarian plate which included sautéed veggies (spinach, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, squash), rice and whole beans. It was a tad bit oily and salty for my taste but overall it was still pretty tasty. I was just happy to have something on the menu to order without haven't to get creative. The plate was supposed to come with tortillas, which was left out both times we ordered. Maybe it doesn't come with it anymore and they forgot to update their menu to omit that? For the second meal, we got shorted our large guacamole and received a much smaller tub of it. Our hearts were broken but we recovered after eating our delicious meal. My friend ordered the enchiladas and taco plate and finished most of it. The best food we had during our stay in Manchester. We'll never be back to Manchester but if we ever find ourselves back in this grimy town, we'll definitely order from here again! read more

Food was very good! Service was quick and very responsive. The restaurant is very clean. Really good.

Service was not bad, However they came out 30 mins before close to ask us to pay the bill and leave since our waitress was "leaving" and that they were gonna close up because of "cold weather". No snow in the forecast, not below freezing temperatures either, another reason was "it's been a long day". Not sure what was going on but the way we were approached about paying the bill was rude and very unprofessional. If it was done in a better manner it would have been understandable and acceptable. However it wasn't. I no longer will recommend this restaurant after this experience. read more

Best guacamole in Middle TN!!! Ordered the guacamole casero to have with chips & salsa while we waited for our shrimp fajitas for two. Nice chunky avocados with so much goodness & flavor mixed in!!! Shrimp fajitas were delicious and so happy to add this guac to them too!! I think this might be my new favorite place in Manchester! read more

My server disappeared after I was served my steak fajitas... The salsa was horrible tasted like tomato sauce .. I ask for hotter salsa it was hotter, but even worse than the first batch of tomato sauce horrible .... I asked for no bell peppers and sub jalapeños ... The onions and tomatoes in the fajitas we're completely mushy ... The flour tortillas they served we're old, stale, cold and hard... The place did look clean. I never use the restroom so I can't say what they look like. It was mid afternoon. The place was pretty much empty. Another server brought me my check I put my card at the end of the table and it took him like 10 to 15 minutes just to come and pick up my card? I will not be back ... read more

The food was tasty and had big portions. The restaurant inside was huge and could clearly serve large parties. The price of everything was reasonable. I ordered the sampler and it came in two plates with plenty leftover to take home for later. Chips and salsa were also a hit! read more

We usually love the new location, but last night's visit resulted in food poisoning and repeated vomiting. The dish at fault was a lovely fajita bowl with steak and shrimp. The food was fantastic! I had steak soft tacos, and my boyfriend had steak and shrimp fajitas. Very tasty and at the proper temperature. We took home enough leftovers to make another full meal. I used El Molcajete for a catering event for one of my doctors. They did a wonderful job and everyone loved the food. I had a chicken chimichanga that was excellent and hot the spot. I'll have to come in and eat here instead and f taking it to go next time. It is a cute little place in Manchester with a very friendly staff. I'll be back soon read more

I hate giving businesses bad ratings, especially local/small businesses, but honestly I would give this place 1 star if I could. The food was HORRIBLE and so FAR from authentic. We ordered a tamale.... which was covered is this weird nacho cheese sauce and additionally, the ends of the tamale were incredibly crispy. The second dish we ordered was a veggie quesadilla with spinach & mushroom. The quesadilla was overly stuffed with an abnormal amount of spinach and mushroom. Aside from that the vegetables did not taste fresh AT ALL. They were watery and so I'm assuming they were either canned veggies or from the freezer. The third dish we order was a vegetarian combo dish which consisted of an enchilada, bean burrito, and tostada. The tostada was literally inedible... the base of the tostada tasted so OLD and horrible. The bean burrito and enchilada were covered in a red sauce that tasted exactly like cheap marinara sauce. I could go on and on about the food to be honest but I'll spare you and stop here. Unfortunately, We didn't end up eating anymore of the food then shown in the pics I attached in this review. I'm SO confused as to why this place has so many good reviews on Google and Yelp???? Don't waste your time & money here.... seriously just pick another place!!! read more

Update: We have been here before it was good food and friendly service so we thought we would go again....... Well, we walked in at 8:45pm and the look we got. My wife said maybe it's closing time. So I ask "when do you close?" They say 10pm. Well we thought ok we would sit down. Not sure what was going on no one smiled we got the impression they didn't want us there drinks were not refilled. I really like their new restaurant. We ordered the Guacamole Casero which was very good. My wife ordered a chicken/shrimp/steak pablanos dish which she really liked. I ordered the carne asada which, while having good flavor, the meat was very dry. So I'm not going to order that again. We will be back to try other items on the menu. read more

The aura is pretty consistent with any Mexican restaurant that serves alcohol (not just a takeout place). The Casero guacamole and shrimp fajitas here pretty fab. Pair it with great service and friendly staff, it's a winner. This place was very close to our hotel we stayed at on our way to Florida so this exit may have to become a tradition. read more

This place came recommended by someone who goes here at least 1x a week. This place was actually really good. They have vegan/vegetarian options and the host knew the ingredients in the food. I got the avocado jalapeño salsa, tomato salsa and the vegetarian platter with rice, beans and corn tortillas. Fue muy delicioso! We found this place while staying in the area. Yummy. I ordered a steak fajita and was hot and excellent -- no complaints. My husband ordered a burrito real which he is still speaking about it since it was that good. The restaurant was extremely clean and the service was excellent. We got there around 4p.m. and watched all the people come in afterwards the place gets busy. I would highly recommend this place for the experience was incredible. Salsa watery. Taco salad bare and watery. Margarita gross and watered down. I usually love their food and am a regular. When I complained, which I never had there before, the manager told me he was sorry and that I shouldn't have let my drink sit there and become watered down. I had started drinking it as soon as I got it and stopped after two sips because of the taste. When I asked for the manager, it took awhile for him to come. He said the salsa and taco salad hadn't changed, but I disagree. Others sitting around us thought it was very watery as well. With my twenty dollar bill from an enchilada kids meal, taco salad, drink, and margarita, I went to pay. I was upset that all my plate was full, margarita almost full, and he hadn't offered me a discount. After complaining more and him having already run my card, he said if I would give him my card back, he would just void it. I didn't let him, and I told him I just wouldn't be back. I was just too upset at the cruddy customer service they offered me when I clearly felt my food was awful. I have to really have a reason to complain at a restaurant and don't do it often. For them to really not seem to care until I was mad and had paid, it just infuriated me. read more
