Fresh and crispy chips with delightful salsa - our group of 9 was supplied with many bowls!
Lauren D.

Big family trip to Great Wolf Lodge and 2 of us were bent on Mexican food here once we saw the reviews (the others weren't sure they want to leave GW!). This yelper got big ups from the family upon entering this festive restaurant with enough seating to accommodate the 9 of us. Don't let the parking situation deter you - you will find a spot and the restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside. Service is on point. The bowls of chips and salsa will be flowing as soon as you sit down. Negro Modelo was fresh. Patrons in a good mood 10/10 which helped cancel the noise of our spirited group. The menu is so extensive we had to ask our servers to come back because we had a hard time deciding. Once ready, my F-I-L just said "enchiladas" and they were able to help him transcribe that into a custom order of 2 chorizo, 1 beef enchilada. Very sweet of the server to help here and it turned out this was the perfect combo for my FIL. Beans and rice were solid good that my FIL ordered another round to go. The highlights were pretty much all of the food. Kid-friendly options made the children happy - 3/4 ordered quesadillas and one ordered a burger that I would challenge is better than a burger restaurant. Buttery roll, juicy burger, gone in 60 seconds. Quesadillas and enchiladas had an epic cheese sauce - perhaps like an elevated, creamier cooper sharp. I, the lone vegetarian of the group, ordered skinny enchiladas at the risk of it not being a small portion (it was not) but also appreciating the variety of spinach, beans and cheese and I would order it all over again (if you were trying to avoid cheese, perhaps sub the cheese for a perfectly seasoned and sautéed spinach one or the most creamy dreamy beans). I'd also add an extra order of beans on the side as this is one that comes with just rice and we need to unlock that perfect protein of rice and beans. Hawaiian fajitas were a hit but a tweak of adding more pineapple chunks would have made this a #1 for my S-I-L (she likes more pineapple). Burritos espinaca, supreme enchiladas were solid.

I found out about this place is fairly new and wanted to give them a try. I wanted to test them out and start with the à la carte tacos (3). I have to say for almost $16 it wasn't worth It. The portion of chicken on all the tacos made me laugh. The cheese that was used was hand sliced in strips which is not common. The picture below is without the lettuce and cheese to give you an idea of how much chicken was used. If these were skimp, makes me think all other plates are. I'll stick with La tolteca in Aberdeen where it's very much worth it, with huge chunks of shredded chicken.

Food doesn't taste authentic; is bland and average. I used a lot of Chulo, salt and sour cream. Overpriced. Won't be back.

I love it when a plan comes together, and that's exactly how it panned out for Plaza Mexico. On…read moreCinco de Mayo I intended to visit but much to my amazement they were SLAMMED and I mean their entire parking lot was full, and also the parking lot for The Brass Tap as well, it was intense. So I opted not to go because I wanted to experience their atmosphere, customer service and food on a normal day of operation. Fast forward to the evening after Cinco de Mayo. I came in and I was kindly greeted, and since I was flying solo I went to the bartender was quick to greet me, got my chips and salsa to me (which is on the house), and took my drink order. The music was very festive on the inside, the wraparound bar is a nice touch, and the atmosphere overall definitely sets a vibe. I ordered some queso dip cause, why not and it paired nicely with the salsa. I then proceeded to order the Quesabirria Taco dish that was phenomenal and I HIGHLY recommend. The birria consommé that comes with it, it so good so dip those tacos like your tastebuds depend on it. To say the least I am glad I went there the day after Cinco de Mayo and while I'm sure it was a vibe itself, I don't think I would have quite gotten the service and experience I did when they are operating on a normal day. All good things in moderation I guess‍.

Husband ate the birria - the consommè needed stirring and he was happy. Food arrived quickly, service was pleasant, happy and efficient

I tried calling and no one answered, it went to voicemail. When I went to the store they had not even processed my order. The restaurant was not busy so I'm not sure why they didn't process it until I showed up to ask about it. Once I was there and spoke to someone they processed the order and I had to wait about 10 minutes for it to be put together. My order looks like it was thrown together quickly and the sauce for the enchilada is all inside the bag and handles. I usually love la tolteca and never have issues but this was super inconvenient and it's unfortunate that now I am most likely not going to go anymore. Thankfully I wasn't working and needed to pick it up within a certain time frame!!

It has lots of veggies and comes with Spanish rice and refried beans. I was little surprised that there was a bit of a kick since I don't really like spicy food. But then I didn't really notice the heat after a few bites, so I guess it was fine. Service is friendly and the ambience is nice to hang out and chat with friends while dining.

We stopped in on a Tuesday evening and were seated right away. It wasn't busy when we arrived, and while it did start to fill up, there was never a wait. The restaurant itself was clean and casual, and they do serve alcohol (it looked like they have happy hour specials as well, though we didn't try any). They brought out complimentary chips and salsa to start, with a note on the menu that a second basket comes with a charge. One thing to be aware of: the chips are not made in a dedicated fryer, so they aren't gluten-free. Service was a bit of a mixed experience. There was definitely a language barrier, which made communication difficult at times--our questions often had to go through multiple staff members before we got an answer. Food came out pretty quickly, which we appreciated since we were in a rush. That said, there were some hits and misses. I ordered tacos al pastor but was given steak tacos instead. I tried to explain the mix-up, but it wasn't resolved, and due to time, I just ate them. Unfortunately, the steak was overcooked and tough, and the tacos themselves were very basic--just meat on a corn tortilla, with extras like sour cream costing more. On the plus side, my nephew really enjoyed his kids' cheese quesadilla and fries (the fries looked crispy and well-made). Someone in our group liked the chorizo quesadilla, and another had the birria tacos and thought they were just okay--nothing standout, especially compared to other places. Pricing felt a bit high for the portion size and overall quality. There is a small parking lot, but we didn't have trouble finding a spot, which is always a plus. Overall, Casa Mezcal was convenient and quick, but between the order mix-up, inconsistent food quality, and communication challenges, it didn't fully hit the mark for us. I'd consider giving it another try if I were in the area, but with adjusted expectations.

Don't order takeout from here. Forgot my drink and my cutlery can't even eat my dinner.read more
