I love it when a plan comes together, and that's exactly how it panned out for Plaza Mexico. On Cinco de Mayo I intended to visit but much to my amazement they were SLAMMED and I mean their entire parking lot was full, and also the parking lot for The Brass Tap as well, it was intense. So I opted not to go because I wanted to experience their atmosphere, customer service and food on a normal day of operation. Fast forward to the evening after Cinco de Mayo. I came in and I was kindly greeted, and since I was flying solo I went to the bartender was quick to greet me, got my chips and salsa to me (which is on the house), and took my drink order. The music was very festive on the inside, the wraparound bar is a nice touch, and the atmosphere overall definitely sets a vibe. I ordered some queso dip cause, why not and it paired nicely with the salsa. I then proceeded to order the Quesabirria Taco dish that was phenomenal and I HIGHLY recommend. The birria consommé that comes with it, it so good so dip those tacos like your tastebuds depend on it. To say the least I am glad I went there the day after Cinco de Mayo and while I'm sure it was a vibe itself, I don't think I would have quite gotten the service and experience I did when they are operating on a normal day. So, I was going to order a door dash pickup, which said it would be 12 minutes- but I thought it would be nice to go there, have a beer, and order dinner to go. I went there, got a pint,and placed my to go order. The food took about 30 minutes to reach me- and the last 20 minutes I was there the bartender asked me at least 3 times if I wanted another beer- I can't prove it, but it appeared to me the bartender held the food hoping I would order more beer- he was actually kinda obnoxious about it. My hotel was 800 feet away from plaza- when I got there it was cold. If your going to do to go, order it through door dash- and don't got to the bar and depend the bartender to look out for your best interest. read more

I already had dinner for myself so I called and ordered because the toast website was not working. They charged me almost $9 more due to "surcharge" that they said was explained with the taped message on the outside door. The portion was also half the size that my kids usually get. Maybe it was just a fluke- I dunno- but I'll give it another try before deciding whether or not to order from here again. Kids love the food here but I'm just really upset with the significant difference in portions and the surcharge. 2nd time in about two weeks by chance... on my first visit (a Sunday) I had the 4 taco variety. Service is a bit rough... tacos were good but caught off guard when there wasn't any cheese on them. Had to pick some of the red onions off as there were a ton... give that visit 3 stars. Went with a big group on Friday night. Decent service , especially given it was a big group. Great food! The staff is meh. Sometimes we end up with good servers, other times we end up with the same two who are always rushing us. The food on the other hand is deslicious! I called in my order for to go. When I arrived the guy at the front was cool and my food was ready. They have some nice artwork inside I was captivated by it. It's very clean and the ambiance is well suited to the type of restaurant without having a dirty cantina look. The food was okay, but it wasn't anything I would write home about. The service was very slow considering staff was sitting at the bar when when came in during a slow period. The chips and salsa were just okay. I like crunchy corn or soft flour when it comes to tortillas/shells etc. That said, the street tacos were decent filling but the shells were sopping wet from the pickled condiment they flop all over the middle of the plate. I've also been partial to getting both rice and beans or extra soft tortillas, here you have to watch as some meals don't come with those when you expect them to. I was in the Maryland area last weekend and staying in a hotel across the street to Plaza Mexico restaurant. I see a-lot of cars parked in the big restaurant parking lot, I wondered food must be good. Also upon the hotel checkin staff I went to this restaurant. I was greeted very warmly by everyone standing at front bar area. I was then seated in one of their boots. Love the decor, ambiance and the pure Mexican vibes in the restaurant. My server was very nice and kind too, too bad I forgot his name. He was very attentive and had good food suggestions. Drink: Since I don't drink alcohol, I asked my server if I can have the mango margarita, he told me I can. It was like 3.4/5 cause it was quite mild for mango flavor. Food: I was given a basket of tortillas and salsa, both were fresh and tasty. I chose Carne Asada as my main course. I also order a single order of grilled chicken taco. I was amazed the food came out pretty fast. My first bite to the steak was mind blowing, so very delicious. I didn't eat taco and got it packed as a to go to eat later at night. I tasted at night and I wasn't a fan of it since it was bland. For my dessert I got churros and hands down the beat churros I have ever eaten. Freshly prepared and has chocolate filing inside. It tasted heaven with whipped cream, ice-cream and chocolate/ caramel sauce. Colorful art work and a warm reception greet you upon entry into the lobby, as do the smells of sizzling fajitas and tortilla chips. The menu offers the expected Mexican flare, which always makes it tough to order, I mean, how do you narrow it down to what you really want?! I went for the street tacos since they offered a sampling of four different meats, and all were great. The pickled onions and Fresno chilies offered a tasty punch. Their food is VERY good and comes with gratuitous portions. Both times we have been, I got a veggie dish (zucchini and squash, I forget the name of the dish), and it was really good. We took our daughter to celebrate her 6th birthday, they brought out a Sombrero and DELICIOUS slice of cake and made the biggest ruckus, which my daughter absolutely ate up. Our waiter grabbed the spoon and smudged whipped cream on her nose, and she has told almost everyone we have seen about that in the last 2 weeks. But the service was fantastic - we had an appetizer and entrees and the food came out with perfect timing. The manager (maybe?) came out to check on us halfway through the meal - which I appreciated. I order the chicken taquitos they came with queso on top and a side of rice. My husband order carne street tacos and he enjoyed them, he order a side of likes because that how we typically eat them. Really wanted to love this restaurant. Pros: Easy access to I-95. Very friendly staff, got seated right away, food came out quickly, nice atmosphere. The table to the booth could be moved - helpful if you have a hard time getting in/out. Festive Mexican music plays in the background. There are 5 handicapped parking spaces. Cons: The food was pretty much one-note and kind of bland. The chips were made there, but I've had store-bought ones I liked better. The salsa was alright. Ordered a virgin piña colada, chimichangas, and dolce de Leche cake for dessert. Total was $28.60, with tax. The piña colada tasted off to me. I got the fried chimichangas - one chicken, and one with beef tips. They weren't very tasty, just so-so. The dolce de Leche cake was okay. I wouldn't order anything that I got today again, but I may go back to try the steak or shrimp fajitas. Disappointing. read more
