My mom picked me up from the airport and by the time we got to the area, it was close to 8AM. My stepdad, who is from the city, brought us here since he likes it. Came for a 7pm dinner Saturday. The Piri Piri Shrimp was the hit of the night, really really good. My husband had the sardines main and loved it. I tried the Portuguese Steak and honestly didn't really like it -- wasn't for me. Service was fine, room is nice. The seafood is the move here. Skip the steak. read more

My first international trip to Europe was to visit Portugal so Portuguese food will always have a special place in my heart. This is a solid 4 stars restaurant even though it is in CDMX. There is no parking for almost all restaurants we visited in Mexico City so either walk, take subway or uber. Ambiance: both indoor and outdoor dining is available. We were seated outdoors but there was a nice breeze at night. Traditional Portuguese restaurant vibe overall. The tables had a table cloth and the chairs were nicely cushioned. Service: excellent. It did take a bit for someone to bring us the menu but once that happened, things fell into place. We were given complimentary bread and butter, and our drinks arrived pretty quick. Food didn't take long to arrive and the courses came out at a good pace. We also didn't need to wait long for the check. The staff even deboned an entire fish in front of our eyes. Food: very solid Portuguese food. We ordered the PRC which our waiter recommended to us, the caldo verde, steamed clams in white wine sauce, the grilled octopus and the salt baked fresh catch of the day. For dessert, we had the pastel de nata. Everything tasted deliciously. Our favorites were the cod bacalhau from the PRC , the grilled octopus and the fresh catch of the day. The dessert was just average so I don't recommend getting it. Cost: $$. We are from the Bay Area so this restaurant was super affordable to us even with a 15% tip additional. We recommend dining here if you are near the area. You won't be disappointed. This was our first meal after we landed and we also returned and had lunch here before we headed to the airport for departure. read more

It is no wonder that this restaurant is listed first in its category. Every dish had an original preparation and flavor. The drinks and service were top, as well. The ambiance and location are wonderful! Excellent management by the Chef, Maria De Silva. She is fortunate to have this location, which I believe has been in the family like forever! She is brilliant and if it were not for her, I do not think it would be as successful. I am sure she realizes she won the lottery. As early as weekday 8:15am, this restaurant may look empty but it's almost fully booked. Many were wise enough to make reservations that my party of 2 would have to sit on the limited bar space. Polanco is magnificent and the plentiful amount of small restaurants with outdoor dining is endless. As suggested by my driver's friend, we ate breakfast here during my last stay in the area. Before 9:00AM the place was already buzzing and full of patrons (mostly all in suits). I took the amount of people sitting at the restaurant waiting for breakfast as a good sign of things to come. The breakfast menu had pages upon pages of not only delicious native entrees, but also French selections and your standard go to breakfast items like coffees, juices and different pastries. Since I am rarely in D.F. and do not typically eat Mexican food, I opted for one of the house specialties - the Macuarrines. This platter consisted of a tortilla topped with fried eggs, chorizo and cheese. I am not just talking about your standard slice of cheese, folks. I'm talking about a thick cut of pantela white cheese as the perfect topping to my breakfast platter. These ingredients layered like a small hill were the perfect start to my morning. Coupled with a delicious tasting cafe latte I was fueled and ready to start my day. I will note that this platter typically comes with chiles torreados but I opted against those. For those that like spice - tear it up! With all the breakfast options here I am sure I will be returning to try a few more once in the area again. read more
