An absolutely astounding collection of vintage clothing, shoes, handbags, hats and jewelry fills this space to the brim. It's packed, which is both its best and worst feature. It can be hard to move through the racks and properly look at what's hanging without ending up with piles of clothing at your feet. So, perhaps a larger space is in order to house all the great garments, etc.? This place is just too cool. I came in looking for some David Bowie-esque clothing (don't ask). The staff didn't flinch, they directed me to multiple options, even venturing in the ladies section (to explore some of David Bowie's gender-bender outfits). The store is definitely intimidating, but I was so thankful that the staff was able to help me find exactly what I was looking for. There are some gems here - a lotta meh, but if you search hard enough, cool cab be found. Minimal attempt has been made at organizing - and some of it counterintuitive. The wire hangars tragically damage goods. The "good" stuff is comically behind a roped off area (and ironically also suffering from hangar burns). And Tim's random surliness is off-putting and rude. I finally made it out to Casablanca the other day. I've known about it's existence for years but have never made it. I was at Pride this past weekend promoting and I figured I'd stop in as I was in the neighborhood. I worked on a play with Hollywood who is one of the main workers at Casablanca Vintage and I was lucky that he was working that day! You can also call Hollywood Donnie if you'd like. He will look you up and down and then immediately start pulling amazing clothes for you to try on. I tried on so many gorgeous dresses from the 50's and 60's and my boyfriend tried on some classy vintage suits. He's a great salesman, but I managed to get a deal on two really great skirts (one was a crinoline) and ended up only spending about $40. They'll haggle with you about the price and lump several things together for one amount of money which is pretty nice! This place is so worth a visit if you love clothes, style, history, and digging through mounds of clothes to find that one jem! read more

Wow, this place is a TOTAL SCAM JOB! DO NOT SELL YOUR CLOTHING HERE!!! I'm so bewildered right now I can hardly stand it-- so here goes it-- I brought in a ton of clothes for this place to make an offer on-- vintage silk dresses with matching scarves, a long 100% leather hippie dress with embroidering (well worth $300 on ebay), a vintage sheepskin wool jacket, vintage Nieman Marcus jacket-- a dress (that I'm pretty sure is a vintage Pucci dress-- 100% silk). Those are just some of the highlights. All in all about 125 items. They said that they would have to pass on any item that was later than the 70's-- which was fine of course... so they cherry picked 35 of my best items and offered me-- get this--$50. $50?... Uhmm... $50?! The average price in here per article of clothing is $35-$50.... so you think that giving me a little over $1 per item is a "good" deal? These people are nuts-- they couldn't get even one of my items in a thrift store for a buck. I'm not only insulted, but I'm appalled at the morality of this "business" if I'd even call it that. Their offer was not only absurd, it was offensive-- to try to take advantage of people like this is truly indicative of moral bankruptcy. As someone who has never shopped at vintage stores except for Halloween, I was so ecstatic about my experience with Casablanca Vintage! For those of you that attended the Yelp's Swanky Sixties Elite Event this is where I got my outfit. Most referred to it as "looking regal and just like Jackie-O." Well I am here to tell you--it was the owners here who helped me pull this all together. I was scrambling and frustrated after visiting four or five other stores where the employees pointed and said "over there." I was sure I was not going to find anything. But when the owner walked me over to the section and began actually picking out dresses for me, I saw a glimpse of hope! We finally settled on the classic navy blue dress and he suggested I do white gloves and a super fancy 60's era hat to pull the look together. That night everyone said it was the hat that totally made the outfit! I got tons of compliments and I couldn't have felt better about spending my money here. Seriously the best service I have ever had! The staff and owners can really help you pull together a look or point you in the right direction. And the best part? The tags are all marked what era the item is from. I love that they take the time to do this. It really helps and shows that they care. Customer service rating really brought this one down. Good selection of vintages items, including clothes, hats and other stuff. A bit overpriced in my opinion, but nonetheless, fun to check out and occasionally find something cool. I recently made a special trip to Casablanca to look for a few items to purchase. After fighting rush hour traffic for nearly an hour, I arrived at the store and I suddenly needed to use the restroom. No one greeted me when I walked in and I began to wonder around the store looking at various items and trying to find a bathroom. I approached the clerk, a younger blonde female who has been there every time I've shopped there (I imagine she's the owner or at least the manager) and asked where the restroom was located. She responded that there wasn't a public restroom and that I would need to walk across the [busy] intersection to White Castle and use their restroom, if I needed to go. I immediately thought it was a joke and asked if they had a restroom for customers. Without looking up she laughed and simply said "no, sorry". I pressed her one more time and asked if she was serious. Finally she dropped what she was working on, looked at me like I was an idiot, raised her voice and said "YES REALLY, ITS NOT MY JOB TO CLEAN UP OTHER PEOPLE'S MESSES, IF YOU NEED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM GO TO WHITE CASTLE". Bottom line- this place has pretty cool vintage stuff. All of which you have to pay a premium for. But they definitely suck at customer service. People often spend long periods of time in places like this and inevitably they are going to have to use the restroom. Unfortunately, those folks are out of luck. read more

I went to Casablanca for the first time about two months ago. I hated it. But a couple weeks after I wrote the review, I received a very cool message from the owner asking me to give it a second chance. I've gotta say, I admired the guy's verve, so much so that I mentioned the review to several of my friends. Every last one of them threatened me with physical violence if I didn't give it another go. So tonight I stopped by, and this is what I found: As soon as I was through the door, I was blown away by the improvement. All of the boxes and clutter were gone. In their place were meticulously organized racks and even (wait for it) a motorcycle. I noticed that there were more price tags on things (though a lot remained untagged), and the place was just gorgeous. I'm honestly amazed that the owners managed to make such progress in the two months since I'd last been in. Even my mom (who's incredibly finicky about thrift stores) mentioned that she'd be back. Gotta give it to 'em. It's a very charming store. read more

What I liked about the place is that it was organized by waist size in the clothing department, and in other departments, it looked like the color dictated the organization. Some of it could have been better organized and displayed--like the purses seemed to be jammed in there. It's a vintage shop that does not look highly curated, but is packed to the gills with stuff. They must have a lot of problems with assy people, because there were lots of notes and directions. "Ask for help" on a number of items; same with the dressing rooms. Instructed to bring the clothes back to the helper if they didn't fit/ if you weren't buying the item. There was a literal pile of clothes on the floor near the checkout that someone was rifling through. And it's dark, dusty and with that distinctive 'decades of different sweat trapped in textiles" aroma that kinda kicks you in the face when you walk in. A scientist could have a field day here. Now if you are looking for something vintage, you very well may find it, but things are also pretty jam packed in here and the condition and age of items is sporadic. I was looking for a skinny tie for my husband, and while they were sorta arranged by color, there were so many on each display that it was hard to even see what I was looking at. If they thinned out the stock a bit and were a bit more curated, it would really take this place to the next level. read more

I have been going to Casablanca for its great shoe repair for a while but the huge piles of musty clothes were just too much for me to tackle for clothes, even though there was clearly some cool stuff there. I like to bargain shop but there are limits. I stopped in yesterday and WOW. It has (I think) new owners and they have really cleaned it up. No more musty/smoke smell, fresh paint on walls, refinished floors and it looked ORGANIZED. I didn't have time to look carefully but it appears this store has really turned around. If you (like me) have bypassed this gem because it was just too much work to find something, give it another try. And the shoe guy does great work..... read more

1/10 at best. The store charged me 1 dollar for a mask when a box costs 4 dollars for 50. Then let a group come in and didn't charge them for masks. Clothing section was just bad. No XXL section. I came to Cincinnati to visit a friend for Halloween weekend. Because I didn't have a costume my friend brought my to casablanca. I found this cute dress from the 60's. To add it I also got some vintage jewelry I don't think I would have found anywhere else. Casablanca also has lots of other clothing from other decades, witch I though was really cool. My favorite part of the store would have to be the vintage T-shirts. I got a one of a kind "super kid" T and I LOVE it so much. They also have old school T's that have Charlie Brown, spider man, mickey mouse ect. Unfortunately, I don't live in the Cincinnati area but next time I visit I'm defiantly going back. Casablanca Vintage is definitely the premier place in Cincinnati for vintage clothing. All of the racks are filled with every single piece of vintage clothing you could EVER imagine. If you can't find it here, then you won't be able to find it. Casablanca has a huge selection of shoes, purses, scarves, jewelry, hats, and much more. I spent about two hours in the store and only saw items in my size and interest, but you could easily spend hours in there. Everything is organized well and I love how they order the pants, dresses, jackets, and skirts by waist size. Prices are extremely fair in my opinion and the more expensive things are priced appropriately. After reading through some of the other reviews, I have no clue why some people thought it smelt bad inside or the staff was rude. The store is in a beautiful historic building and it is vintage clothing, so yes, it is going to have an antique smell (which isn't a bag thing in my opinion!). There are areas where delicate pieces are kept, which is understandable because I can imagine some people could possibly damage the clothing. Customer service was excellent and the owners were very nice and helpful. I will be back soon! read more

Casablanca is FULL of amazing finds. One of the biggest thrift stores of its kind that I've been in. It's super helpful that all of their clothes are sorted by size, with the appropriate decade written right on the tag. Went in there today to find 60's clothes, and having not watched Mad Men and being completely clueless, this helped so much! Plus, the staff (owner, actually) was really friendly, patient, and helpful. Also a really great place if you're looking for shoes - they have a big selection! Bigger than any I've seen. They also offer shoe repair if you're looking for that as well. All in all, Casablanca would have anything you would ever need if you need to dress up for any theme. Seriously, they have everything. Casablanca Vintage, one of the first businesses you find when entering Northside from Ludlow Ave., has been around for years. The owner is a very particular sort and if you arrive early enough to work with Hollywood (the best vintage retail worker in the city) you may walk out with a sweet piece of vintage love at a low to reasonable price. They are known for carrying the largest selection of vintage clothing in the area and my roommate recently walked out with a black top coat with tails for less than $100. Hollywood also found my girlfriend a fabulous purple suit in the same price range. I myself have yet to really find the right kind of piece but that's probably because I don't have a clear idea of what I'm looking for. Despite this, Hollywood really did exceed any expectation I may have had for service with humor, a smile and love for his work. The experience of rummaging through decades of items and squeezing into hard to reach corners is my favorite part. I love trying on old furs and silk gowns, throwing hats of all kinds on my head and disappearing into a place like this. Casablanca reminds me of what the downstairs of Trivets used to be, minus the cat urine smell and with a huge amount of class and quality added. They specialize in rentals which fill the second floor, all items are for sale on the first floor. The hours sometimes vary so it's a good idea to call ahead of time to make sure they are open. read more

Here's the deal with Casablanca - it's a vintage store, and a good one. The racks and shelves are packed to the gills with stuff, and a lot of it is high quality. Pants, shirts, jackets, hats, shoes - you name it. There is a TON of stuff and you could probably spend all weekend in there going through everything, and I bet you'd find some really sweet pieces. That said - whew, it is definitely dingy and dark and - ahem - smelly. It's not a bad smell (matter of opinion, I guess). It seems to be caused mainly by the incense burning inside the store. It may be exacerbated by the piles and piles of decades-old clothing and whatnot. I think the atmosphere of Casablanca is well-suited to the type of store it is. I don't know that a super-clean and organized vintage store is really what you're looking for. Being in here really made me think of good old Richmond, VA - there were some great vintage shops there when I was in college, and rummaging through the stuff was half the fun. Further, a shop that sells sports coats for $8 and shirts for $6 is barely making due by hiring college kids to work the counter. I doubt there's a lot left over for Pine-Sol and Windex (and again, who would want it?!?). Speaking of the staff, I got great individual customer service when I was here. The young man who helped me worked hard to find exactly what I was looking for. He failed, but it wasn't his fault. He listened well and went back and forth between areas of the store with me searching for my item. Good stuff! I don't get to Northside much, nor do I have occasion to do much shopping for vintage clothing anymore. However, when I do, I'll definitely stop in to Casablanca. read more

I've wanted to hit up Casablanca Vintage for years and FINALLY got to cross it off my Cincy bucket list and I'm so glad I did. When you walk in the awesomeness smacks you in the face and you KNOW you'll be there for at least an hour rummaging around! The rummaging around and digging through drawers to find the neat stuff is half the fun for me! I like to think that I made a discovery by digging through drawers and drawers of scarves to find JUST the perfect scarf meant for me! It's the vintage store treasure hunt! As a larger than average lady I was pleased to see that Casablanca has a variety of sizes of vintage dresses. It's nice to know that not just the skinny girls can have fun vintage clothes! The prices are decent too. Dresses ran between $12-$30 for an every day type skirt or dress. The staff was very hospitable and kind to everyone that came in. I wanted to make sure I mentioned that since a lot of the previous reviewers didn't have that good of an experience. I didn't need any special help from the staff, but if I did I wouldn't have hesitated to ask! Be sure to check in on Yelp when you're there too! Wow, I'm shocked by the low ratings I've seen! I went on a day when the power wasn't even working and I loved it.. It was the day after Christmas and as we were heading that way I thought it was closed, and I was super bummed. Casablanca has been on my list of to do's for awhile and I thought I wasn't going to get to see this place. I do some crazy things for my birthday, and I figured this place was worth checking out for my throw back party I'm going to have. Well, I figured right, but the problem was it was pitch black, and you can't really see much by light of the cell phone. From what I could tell, I loved this place and there were several things I saw that I'd wear on a daily basis as tribute to the throw back days. Granted some of these ratings were older so maybe they cleaned up their act a bit since then, but I can't wait to go back when I can check out the whole place. They had funky hats, shoes, clothing and accessories that my crisp dollar bills just wanted to be thrown at. Like I seriously had to fold my bills over in my purse and zip the little pocket inside so they wouldn't buy anything, because you know.. I have no control over that.. I will be making a trip back soon,and maybe my rating will change when I can see it in the light of, well, electric.. Maybe my higher rating is because I'm a retro store novice and just realized that there was such a thing.. a year ago Casablanca was a ransacked catastrophe. Now it is THE place to get vintage threads. As a particular person to the 60's era, Casablanca offers a wide variety of suit colors, cuts, and styles, not to mention their first floor is a plethora of options for people looking to diversify their wardrobe. They're not cheap, but if you're buying vintage....they are more than reasonable in their prices for well maintained articles from yesteryear. The owners have put in work to make sure that their costumer walks away happy with rentals and purchases alike and I trust no one but these guys for fashionable antiques. I used to head to Casablanca all the time back in high school-- the days when Hollywood would trapse around telling you about how he just styled Wolfmother. It was a mess- and it was awesome. This past Wednesday was my first day back since the store had been bought and cleaned up. I found a great dress... but that was about it. I think things were pretty pricey, and a lot of it was stained, ripped and just kind of junky. All of that is to be expected in a vintage shop, but I felt liked it was more than I was used to seeing. I can't say anything really stuck out in my head either. So, it was just "meh" and I have experienced better. read more
