I found Hughes Motors Auto Repair as I was scrolling through hoping to find a good and possibly my…read morepermanent mechanic going forward as going through mechanics is a struggle I own an Alfa Romeo Stelvio so was hoping that at Hughes, they will service my car and which they did I got an oil change and a brake flush bringing in my own parts, now this was the first mechanic that required me to bring in an OEM oil filter which I found interesting to say the least but I had a good feeling so the next morning, went to get a OEM oil filter and went to Hughes. I have gotten lower estimates but I think I rather pay a little more knowing I'm in good hands and I think everyone can agree with that. Now, the staff was very welcoming and very nice so I was talking to the staff about lowering my car and doing other repairs in the future and they basically told me that I shouldn't and that a lot of mechanics will turn away modified cars due to their geometry and needing a special lift.. but I am still going to haha, I'm a little stubborn so hopefully they will still service my car in the future and be my permanent mechanic going forward! Today, I had a different experience. First off, the guy at the front (I won't say any names) is rude. It takes nothing to say hello back to someone who came in and said hello. Anyway, came in to do a battery replacement. Everything was done and as I was walking to the office, I see my car....left UNATTENDED WITH THE HOOD UP and my car still running for several minutes. He just left it there like that. I walked to the office (hood was still up). Stood there waiting to get my bill and keys (hood still up) Mind you...it's a rainy day. This kid was negligent with my property. I don't know if me being a woman alone made that acceptable but it's not. Big or small job, it's business and you treat everyone's property and them with respect. Then after seeing my car left on with the hood up, I make them aware of it and then I paid and left. As I was driving, my USB/anti theft system was not working. Screen blank. Not only was he negligent with my property....he didn't finish the job. You have to reboot the anti theft system for that and the USB/screen controls to work. I was more than willing to tip the guy since I know they don't make much on batteries but after that experience, no. You don't just put a battery in...you need to reboot the system. Today was EXTREMELY disappointing and needless to say, I will go elsewhere from now on. Maybe give JJ a bit more training.

I needed to get my car looked at on a Friday morning after a brand new battery died. I suspected a…read moreparasitic draw or some electrical short but needed a professional to confirm. After calling around to various repair shops nearby, Jack's Automotive won my business by assuring me that my vehicle would be received, reviewed, and issues resolved quickly. Nothing about that assertion was true. After the initial phone call, communication from staff and ownership was abysmal. After the third business day of not hearing from anyone at the shop, I called and politely requested a status update. No updates. Nothing. It was as if I had to remind them my car was on their lot. On the fifth day with no report, finally I was begrudgingly assuaged (not very convincingly) that someone would call me by EOD to finally provide a vehicle assessment and potentially review repair cost with me. Unfortunately no one ever did. Needless to say, after waiting six days and finding out my car still had yet to be diagnosed, all confidence in the competency and professionalism of this establishment vanished. It was only after I told them I wanted to take my car elsewhere that "work" was actually completed by their team. Oddly, it took less than two hours after I said I wanted to take my business elsewhere for them to tell me my alternator needed to be replaced. At this point I continued to play along with the charade just to see if I could get an estimate for repair cost. However, it was not a revelation to find out even that was too much to ask. I was repeatedly told that an estimate for cost would be rough at best and in a ballpark and that could be (and would be) more. Honesty, transparency, and being forthcoming with information are clearly not present nor practiced by this business. Yeah, ok... I've digressed. My spidey-senses had been on high alert for several days already and this was the last straw. It took them 6 days (5 business days) and as many phone calls to finally provide the highly dubious diagnosis of an alternator replacement that they couldn't (would not) even price out. I quickly paid the $200 invoice for the non-existent work performed on my vehicle and got out of there as fast as I could. I'm grateful that's all they were able to swindle me for and nothing more. Fortunately, soon after I went with another nearby repair shop who came highly recommended. The experience was night and day. I'm grateful to report my car's electrical issue was finally and rightly fixed. Oh, and wouldn't you know it, surprise, surprise... it was NOT a "bad" alternator! In summary, considering the level of incompetence and rudeness incurred while dealing with Jacks Automotive, I've been compelled to warn anyone considering using this business. AVOID TAKING YOUR CAR HERE AT ALL COST!!! I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for reliable automotive repairs. Negative reviews like this come from real people who've had real world experience. Do yourself a favor and learn from our misfortune.
