I can't say enough good things about my experience with these folks. It was the first time I have been in this situation, and the first time my family has done a cremation. Igor was incredibly kind, and answered my awkward questions honestly and compassionately. He never attempted to upsell a single thing. And when I forgot to get a lock of my mom's hair, he got it for me. I had originally picked a different place (Davies) who picked up my mom's body without mentioning that their crematorium was down and it would take three weeks. They then just casually mentioned they planned to ship her to Seattle for cremation. WHAT? It was so horrible. I was scrambling and based on some local recommendations and online reviews, I chose Cascadia. They were so quick to retrieve my mom and were ready with the paperwork less than 24 hours after I called. I imagine this could be a tough profession. We contacted Cascadia on a Monday regarding cremating our mother. During the initial visit, Jim talked a big game about how he can usually get things done in 2-3 days and how he knows people at the hospital and that he would take care of everything, so we wrote the check and felt good about things. Days went by and we never heard from him again. Finally Friday afternoon rolls around and we still haven't heard anything, so we call him to find out what is going on. Come to find out that the death certificate hasn't even been signed yet by the hospital and if he doesn't get it back within and hour and a half nothing could be done until the following TUESDAY because Monday happened to be a holiday. When my husband questioned him as to why he didn't follow up sooner with the hospital after the promised 2-3 days went by or give us a call to let us know of the hold up, he became confrontational and yelled at my husband about how "it was out of his hands". UNACCEPTABLE. So WE end up calling around the hospital to facilitate getting the certificate signed in order for her to be cremated and for us to get her ashes back in time for the scheduled memorial service. Isn't that kind of follow up what we were paying him to do?? We did get the certificate signed in time, thanks to the leg work done by my husband, who is grieving the loss of his mother, so this was a lot of unnecessary and unneeded stress. Then Jim tells us that we can pick up the ashes anytime on Sunday after 10am, and that no appointment would be necessary, and to just stop by. On Sunday morning, we arrived to their facility a little after 11am to pick up my mother in laws remains, only to find the place locked up and dark. When we called the number on the door to try to have someone come let us in, Jim again became argumentative telling my husband that he told him to come on Monday and that "he knows what he said" NOT "I'm sorry for the miscommunication" or something like that. Needless to say, this company's lack of follow through and HORRIBLE customer service has left us very dissatisfied. So do yourself a favor, if you are already going through what is one of the toughest things in life to deal with in grieving the loss of a loved one, DO NOT put yourself through further stress and heartache by trying to do business with these people. read more

*please, if you read nothing else, read the last paragraph* A family friend that is like an uncle to us passed away on Sunday. My mother has been receiving calls from his relatives and friends. She asked me to check if his son had placed his obituary in the newspaper yet, so she could give the service information to the people that called her. Today only the Death Notice was listed, I called the phone number printed (Cascadia's), to my surprise the voicemail was a person's not a business. Then I looked up Cascadia's number and called, a woman named Ceecee answered, I told her that I called 213-2060 number was listed in the paper/online and It went to a man named John instead of their business. She was surprised and told me that was the private cell phone of her boss and must be a mistake. Although she seemed like she wanted to do her job, she must be new at it because she kept putting me on hold, when I only asked her two simple questions: 1) Is there a Service scheduled? 2) Do they need son's information? (son is to be handling estate) She said she need to transfer me to the Director John talk to me, I told her I could just check back - she was insistent that he talk to me and asked my name and phone number and put me on hold. John and Ceecee both came on the phone (odd), I introduced myself and told him I called about services for Uncle and found none had been listed yet. Since uncle had made his own arrangements about 2 weeks prior (he was expected to have 3-5 more months) I didn't know if they had his son's contact information and would give it to them if not. He abruptly told me in an angry voice "Why are you even calling me, you're wasting my time, I can't give you any personal information!" I calmly told him I had son's contact information, If uncle hadn't given it - because it was such a short time. He literally yelled at me "NONE of your business! None of any CONCERN to you or your family!" I finally got stern and told him " Your comments surprise me and Uncle is most definitely the only concern". His furious reply was he didn't have time to care what happens, and he has more important things to do than deal with people! ... and he slammed the phone down! I'm looking at my husband and the phone thinking Really?! - he hung up. He must have forgotten the type of business that he's in.... Shouldn't he be professional and compassionate? I'm appalled at the Director John's behavior, please think twice before choosing Cascadia Cremation for your loved one - remember, he doesn't have time to care or deal with people. read more

My sister died in April 2016. On this last day of 2016, I have to write a comment about this business. Jim was a good salesman and we signed. However he continued to make remarks about my sister. She was a big woman but we didnt need to know that she would be cremated first because of her size. I am sure that the blanket we brought to be used was thrown in the trash. The day before my precious mother passed, I received a list of cremation and burial services in the area. I researched reviews online of all local companies that evening and Cascadia came up with the best reviews. The price listed for cremation at Cascadia was the lowest of all, but that was not our priority, just a bonus. I highlighted the name and then, when I got the call that my mother had passed just a few hours later in the middle of the night, I was able to give Cascadia's name. Such a pleasant and satisfying experience we had dealing first with John and later with Jim! There was never a suggestion of offering service more than we wanted or needed. The utmost dignity and friendliness was so comforting. Since the crematorium is actually on the premises, we were able to up our precious urn and death certificates just one week later. The fee was amazingly low and we are most happy with everything they did for us. We can't praise them enough! read more

I was so impressed with the way Cascadia handled my Dad's burial and on such short notice. We hadn't made prior funeral arrangements so we called Jim on a recommendation from a friend and he was so helpful. He told us not to worry about the details right now but everything would be taken care of and that my Dad would have a place to go. After he passed I could tell he was going to be treated with care. The two people who came to transport him from hospice were so kind and did not rush us at all before they took him. I wish I had written down their names. Then we had an appointment the next day with Jim who went through all our options and knowing we wanted to keep the costs as low as possible did not try to sell us anything extra and was upfront about all the costs. He called back later that day with our day/time for burial. Also, we received all the death certificates when he promised and he even called to remind us the day before of what time they were leaving for the cemetery. The driver of the hearse Jamie, was so professional and kind as well. They both stayed during the funeral and explained the military burial to us. The funeral was small but Cascadia and Willamette National Cemetery treated us with such respect and kindness. Our family was really impressed. I feel that most people don't write good reviews because that is the service they expect, but with the case of Jim and his team I feel they represent an exceptional place that I would recommend to anyone having to go through this difficult time. He will take some of the stress away by making sure things go smoothly. read more
