I had been to another podiatrist who made orthotics that were just like the bottom of a regular shoe. $400 and useless. Maybe don't go to Foot and Ankle Surgical Associates. Dr Kocchar's orthotics, the PT she referred me to, and the time she took to figure out my problem are remarkable. She's kind, understanding, talented, and encouraging when I felt so hopeless. Aside from being a wonderful doctor, she understands that women have footwear needs that are different from men's. From that perspective, she made orthotics suggestions so I don't have to wear sneakers with suits and skirts for the rest of my life. If I were having kids I'd name my first born after her (regardless of it's gender). The office staff are wonderful too. I felt like everyone really cared about my pain and getting me better. My quality of life was as poor as it had ever been, in 59 years. I went to the Olympia Orthopedics Walk-In clinic TWICE, and saw one of their "specialists" as well. They did NOTHING for me, other than give me an air cast that doesn't fit and that I was never able to even hobble around in. Finally, after a weekend of literally writhing in pain, and barely able to even get from my bed to the bathroom (with crutches!) I called Foot & Ankle Associates on the Westside of Olympia (where I live). It was meant to be. They had a cancellation that afternoon and got me right in. I saw Dr. Casey Bowles and I am so impressed by his knowledge and compassion that I would recommend him to ANYONE! His assistants are top-notch as well! After examining, he told me that it was plantar faciitis in both feet, tendonitis, and I have unusually high arches. It's actually pretty amazing that it's taken this long for my feet to basically say "enough!" He gave me an injection in each foot (which I was terrified of) and he made it as tolerable as possible. The next day was the FIRST day in I don't know how long that I woke up pain free. I nearly cried from the relief. I went back a week later for another set of shots (one of my feet was starting to get grumpy again), and in two weeks I'll go back for a third, but only if I need it. He said that many people often are cured with just 2 shots. He also shaped and installed some arch supports on my shoe insoles...already I can tell that they are going to make a huge difference for me. Again, Dr. Bowles and his staff are the BEST! Plus, at the risk of sounding like a dirty old lady, he's quite easy on the eyes as well! LOL

Do not go to this doctor. Went with a Morton's Neuroma hoping for relief. Dr. Hovancsek basically…read moredid nothing to help me. In fact, if you go to him, expect him to squeeze your calf muscles and areas on the sides of your knees to the point of tears. He charges exorbitant rates for office visits. He charges $65 for his staff to wrap your foot to the point you can't wear normal shoes and tells you not to remove the wrapping for a week, even to take a shower. I had to buy a special covering for my foot and leg which cost $35 in order to take a shower. He tells you he doesn't believe in cortisone shots or surgery, which actually is what caused me to go to him - because I don't want that either. But he did nothing to help me to the tune of over $700 out of pocket expenses. In addition, his accounting staff are completely incompetent. They continued to bill me for the same office visit, telling me each time this would pay it off, but then kept adding charges, until I refused to pay anymore. At which point they said I still owed $30 and said they would continue charging interest, then turn me over to a collection agency. You will waste your money and time going to Dr. Hovancsek.
