They've got plenty of liquors to choose from so if you're craving whiskey or vodka, the selection is akin to any small liquor store. Other various and sundry items included condoms, lotto tickets and pringles - strong to sort of strong as it were. The type of place you go when you don't know that John's Grocery is less than a mile away, though also a potential place when you just got the hankering for some crappy beer because you've got $7 and need something to watch the game with. The beer selection is pretty subpar for a specialty store. The back wall is lined with cooler that are rivaled by the BP station across the street. The only out of the ordinary beers they've got are in one cooler near the counter that have some good local beers as well as some single bottles of Russian and Latvian beers. I did discover that Latvia makes one mean Lager however! The've got a decent number of sundry items including margarita salts, olives and what not. Overall, not an impressive beer store and with a number of others in the area, they're going to have to up their game to compete.

The store is clean and organized in a way that makes things easy to find. They have an extensive prepared food section as well as a beer tap station. There's a good amount of space to navigate the awkward shaped lot and significant traffic that always seems to be in this area. K&G tends to be on the pricier side of convenience stores and this one is no different. I hear the coffee is pretty good, but I usually opt for hot cocoa. They have a pretty solid rewards program (free to join) - weekly freebies, free coffee/fountain for frequent customers, food and gas rewards. Yes, they're a rapidly expanding chain, but they originated and remain headquartered in Des Moines so you could do worse.
