It was such a pleasant surprise. My goal in places like this, is to list off my choice and have them fill the order without asking me to repeat myself. After all, that is their job. It's all they have to do and you would think they would get good at it. I almost always order a 6-inch, Italian BMT, on Italian White, Toasted with double meat and double pepper jack. I top that with lettuce, tomato, black olives, vinaigrette and plenty of oregano. I know people love to bash Subway, they are kind of the McDonald's of sub shops, but this is a good sandwich. Here is how it usually goes. Sub Guy, "How may I help you?" Me, "I would like a 6-inch, Italian BMT, on Italian White, toasted with double meat and double pepper jack." Sub Guy, "Italian BMT? Me, "Yes." Sub Guy, "What size?" Me, "6-inch." Sub Guy, "What kind of bread?" Me, "Italian White, with double meat and double pepper cheese." Sub Guy, "Would you like that toasted?" Me, "Yes." The process pretty much repeats itself, topping by topping. The pleasant surprise at Iowa Falls was that the young man took the first part of the order and filled it perfectly without asking for even one repeat. He took the toppings order and filled it the same way. I doubt that this will be his career, but it was nice to see he put some effort into it. This was one place where tipping a fast food worker makes sense.
