So after a long day riding bicycles from Ankeny to Toledo, I was excited to bring Kim here. The anticipation was high, and we were definitely hungry. The waitress was awesome, and the beers were cold, even if they felt a little small. The service was friendly, and the pizza came out quickly -- maybe a little too quickly. Unfortunately, the pizza just did not live up to my memory from RAGBRAI in 2023. The crust was soft and seemed a little underdone instead of crisp. We probably should have asked them to fix it, but after that many miles on the bikes, hunger won and we ate it anyway. The place was not very busy, so I do feel like the kitchen should have had time to get it right. The prices were okay, maybe a little high for a medium pizza, but not outrageous. Overall, the service was great and the place has some small-town charm, but the pizza itself was just not what I remembered. Now I can say we have been there together, but it would probably take a rare day for Toledo to be a meal stop again. I just wish this visit had been as good as the memory. I had to call the store just to get their attention. Once the manager Mike came to the counter he was laughing and shaking his head. Saying he was busy and couldn't help me, I asked why one of the other guys couldn't help me and he stated he's the only one who can run the register. Continued to laugh and shake his head. When I got my pizza there was a hair in it. None of the workers wore gloves or washed their hands, especially the manager after handling my cash.
