After reading my friends yelp review I decided to check this place out. I went Saturday morning and there wasn't a line, store was clean, and Rojelio (sp) quickly access my items. Now they just don't take anything. You have to have your items in working condition. I came Ill prepared, but he gave me tips on what to do to fix my items and he'd take them off my hands then. I'm going to search for the remote and cord for my tv monitor I know I have somewhere and take it back up there In the near future. Hopefully I can make a little cash. :) read more

I had brought my gold chain in hopes of making a quick buck instead I was low balled like crazy and received my chain back in HORRIBLE CONDITION. They are not careful enough to handle clients item. My chain was badly damaged and broken, and when I returned to let them know they couldn't do anything about it besides clean it because of how dirty they left it. They broke my pendent and basically told me I agreed for them to test and they couldn't do much about it. The lady was professional and apologetic but I'm still very bummed out about the situation. Anyone coming in here to sell please be advised they will lowball you and they're careless when they test your gold. Never got it tested nowhere else besides here. I agree with Kris D. that the Irving Park store is better than this place. I bought the very computer I am using to write this review from there. I live closer the Back of the Yards so I thought I'd go there to get another laptop with Windows 10. I spotted a couple of laptops and asked the saleswoman about them. After taking them off the shelf and finding a charger, she found they did not work or even turn on! Or if they did turn on they did not power up well. Not sure how that happened as I assume they test those before putting them on the shelf. After determining the computers were junk she PUT THEM BACK ON THE SHELF! Supposedly for 'inventory/security' purposes. She claimed she'd have to consult the manager to take them off. I suspect that those are just 'display' items; instead of a store having near empty shelves of 3 items that work, it's better to have a fully stocked shelf of junk. I was almost tempted to go back and see if the faulty computers were indeed removed but that area is out of my way and NOT worth the trek! read more

DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE. Went in with a few electronics and watches I don't wear anymore. Staff seemed annoyed I came in after 6. Initially were interested in my items, but then had a 'consultation' where they left most of my items behind when speaking to 'her' and heard them joking and laughing about me. TBH, didn't need extra cash but thought it'd be nice for the holidays. Not sure where these five star reviews come from, but they're bullshit. The Cash America on the Northside (Irving Park area) is way more professional and considerate. I wouldn't waste my time coming here, if you're not picky about which pawn shop you visit. read more

The sales lady was rude and had me open an unopened laptop, which I had the exact same one with me unopened, only ton tell me they don't accept refurbished items. First of all, ED IS THE MAN UP THERE! Cleaning out an old storage unit and just cleaning up around the house, I found a bunch of electronics that I had no use for. I didn't even know if or how some of them worked. But I figured before tossing them away, why not see if I can some cash for it? And Ed was the man. He let me know what I can get there, what's best to sell on eBay, etc and never felt like I was being rushed or anything. Even with the long wait to get to "the man", he offered me 2 DVDs on the house. Even tried to sell me a ring and if I was a ring wearer, I almost went for it LOL. Always on the hunt for a good deal, I like to come in and see what I can get on the cheap. I have purchased items as varied as a computer and a drill here! Be prepared to wait. The line is slow and they will take people paying on their loans first, regardless of your place in line. Once you finally get to talk to someone about the item you want they are friendly. However then you have to wait for them to retire the item, the power cord, the case, and answer the phone. There are endless interruptions, but such is the thrifting life. You finally buy what you want and get the longest receipt ever--CVS length! You get 7 days to return. Day 1 is the day of purchase and you can only return it to the place of purchase. You can not return to another location. This never bothered me until I attempted to return something. I went when they opened and they unlocked the door 5 minutes late. The return receipt had no specific information. The return receipt just said REFUND with no code or other details. This became a problem when 7 days later I had not gotten my money back. I called to speak with the manger who was busy. I was then told because I couldn't give them any information, I would have to come in. Ugh. I called my bank to file a dispute and got my money back within 24 hours. The bank clerk said they have had issues with this chain in the past. Essentially you can get a good deal. You could even try and haggle with them a little bit. However, be sure about what you buy because getting a refund is time consuming. read more

This was one of the nicest most immaculate pawn shops I've ever visited. The moment my girlfriend and I walked in we quickly noticed how everything was neatly displayed, making it far easier to check out and enjoy. Then the experience got even greater when we were greeted by the manager Ed, words can't describe how helpful and kind he was. We had just stopped in to browse, being we were visiting from out of town and Ed welcomed and helped us, as if we were buying everything. Lol. This pawn shop was amazing and the customer service from Ed was the best We've ever experienced. How does a pawn shop have a 5 star rating? Because it's a damn good pawn shop. That's why! Nobody likes going to a pawn shop but when I need money bad, at least I can count on ED and his staff to do me right. Cash America in general is my go to shop and I have used many in several states and have had very few problems but this location by far is the best one I've used. I think the picture above is the wrong store. This location is in an older building but it's a very nice, clean, well stocked shop that goes well with the vintage neighborhood. I had quite a surplus of electronic stuff I had no use for and didn't want to hassle with the scammers and oddballs on Craigslist so I took a bunch of stuff here. Assistant manger "Ed" is courteous, attentive, quite knowledgeable and gave me honest evaluations about what stuff would be better sold on eBay, Craigslist or elsewhere. And in the end gave me extremely fair and reasonable value for the stuff I brought in. It's a clean, well laid out store in a nice neighborhood with ample street parking. I was amazed at how clean this place is. For a pawn shop they keep things professional and the service was great. They have a variety of products. Game consoles, kitchen appliances, recording gear, cameras, instruments, jewelry. Just ask anyone for help, but they're more likely to ask you first! This place is not money hungry like 80% of the pawn shops here in the city, nor is it your ordinary pawn shop. The staff offers great hospitality, I have walked in there twice and both times staff treated me well. I did not feel like i was obligated to buy something or pawn something. I had been wanting to shop for a bike here since I saw their summer sidewalk display of a bike rack filled to the brim with name-brand bikes in great condition...for $50-$100! It was worth the special trip in the cold of winter. My husband found his dream bicycle, a Trek road bike that will serve his needs on the city streets, in great condition and ready to ride. $60 later, the bike is loaded in the car for its trip to its new home in Woodlawn. We had searched the city, high and low, for an inexpensive but durable bicycle, from police auctions to cooperatives to Craig's List and the internet, and never would have thought that a pawn shop two doors down from my hair salon would have the best selection at the best prices. read more
