He did mention that my brake pads were 80% worn and I could get these replaced for another $76 or so, and initially I said yes but then checked my last service receipt (from another shop) and I'd had my brakes inspected a couple months back, I wasn't sure I really needed these done so I declined. Said if I get to them within 10 minutes (I was only around the corner) they would do it before they shut. Got there only for them to find out I had been wrongly advised of the tyre type and they didn't have that in. So they got on the phone (to my usual place) - found a tyre, went and picked it up while others from their terrific team prepped the car for the arrival of the tyre. All done and dusted in 15 minutes as they all helped out. I had a dent in my car door that had started rotting with rust due to the paint being chipped away (thanks for nothing Sydney Garbage Truck, be more careful next time ya big galoot). Harry quoted me $200 less than the next best price and fixed that bad boy right up, good as new. Maybe better. I don't know for sure, I'm not a doctor. Have since sent me dear oul' mam to him for bodywork and detailing and he's nailed it. I have been trying to buy a number of Smart Cars for a promotion that we were running, so I had a strict guidelines to follow in what I wanted... Penrith City Motors Advertised a 2006 Smart Fortwo Sequential Auto..... Ok that didn't cover what I needed, the cars can be no older than 2007 on the date of compliance (this was for finance reasons) so I phone the salesman and he assured me that the date of compliance was indeed Jan 2007, he also confirmed that the Car was a Sequential Automatic. Great.... Now the car was low mileage 65,000 and advertised as good condition, so I asked the salesman to confirm this and he assured me that the car was in-fact in excellent condition with very low ks... The car was in Sydney I live in Hervey Bay shipping cost was going to be $850 so we agreed to have the car shipped to Brisbane for $350 and I would collect it from Brisbane... I collected the car from a waste yard on fisherman's Island ks from anywhere, only to find that it had 1 ltr of fuel, (Smart Cars actually tell you how much fuel they have by the litre). And on closer inspection I found that the car wasn't a Sequential Automatic but a Sequential Manual. (A Sequential Manual means that YOU MUST change the gears yourself without the use of a clutch, Sequential Automatic means that you can drive the car as a full Automatic without having to change gears) The lady that was going to drive this car only has one arm and has So I had bought an Automatic and got a Manual, Ok what else is wrong with the car... The passenger's window did not work.... Both remote mirrors did not work correctly The washers did not work The radio did not work The overall appearance of the car and the feel of the car was best describe as "tired" if it had only done 65,000k then they were 65,000 hard ks..... So I stopped there, Ok they have made a mistake and sold me the wrong car, I'll go home and we'll get this sorted... So I wrote to them explaining that they have Sold me an Automatic and in fact delivered a Manual..... Response.... Absolutely Nothing...... So I wrote again..... Response Absolutely Nothing..... So I wrote a third time, this time however I threatened to go to NSW fair trading.... Response Absolutely Nothing.... Ok Fine.... NSW Fair Trading will sort this out.... Or will they... Spoke to a George Galea Automotive Inspector Motor Vehicle Services Unit Customer Services Division Fair Trading NSW Their response:- yea spoken to Penrith City Motors they say "you knew it was a manual when you bought it......" But I didn't, i bought a Automatic it even says on the Invoice Automatic..... and that is what I bought..... Yea.... they are saying you knew it was a Manual... Best bet is to take them to court, I can't do anything else.... But if I take them to court it's going to cost me a lot of money and a lot of time.... They are what you would call a big box retailer, so they have a huge range of products, and they sell them at pretty good prices. They are sort of an in between store, they carry a lot larger range of products say than Big W or K Mart. But probably not as specialised as a specialist parts place. Also they sell a range of their own tools which are good, and especially if you can get them on sale which they do regularly. This store is good, but I find that there are 2 issues that could improve things, 1. There are a lot of shelves with stuff missing, they have sold out and not replaced the items, which is frustrating if you have driven out of your way to visit the store. 2. The service is ok, when you chase after one of the staff members they are good at helping you but you sort of need to distract them away from the busy work they are doing reshuffling the signs etc, the frustrating thing is that a lot of the items you want to look at are locked away, or need some assistance. Top tip would be to join the SCA club, and you get some discounts, and also an email with deals etc.
