I visited this company's website and I'm wondering if it even does actual business anymore, because the site appears to not be fully functioning. They say they recycle fur coats, and I was wondering if they'd take a fur muff. The site urged, "any questions, e-mail us." Their e-mail link didn't link, so I dug up their e-mail from another source and asked, "What about a fur muff?" I got a canned answer, "We have received your pictures via e-Mail, from the pictures you took we have determined visually that your fur coat, can't be used for our current recycling program." I did NOT ask about a fur COAT and I did NOT send ANY pictures. The least they could do is send a canned response that fits the question asked. read more

I attempted to sell my fur coats to this business and we conflicted in their evaluation of their worth. Their personnel was highly offensive and abusive of my person in their communications during the potential transaction. Here, I copy/pasted the last email I received from them. Clearly, I am being called 'not smart' (ie. 'stupid'), 'old', ordered to 'shut up' and 'grow up' because 'it's time,' 'like you, they [the furs] have served their time.' (I am 73 and they were aware of my age). All of this leads me to believe they are in dire need of training on how to treat the American public with basic decency and respect. Ditto to all the people swindled by this Company. I too sent a mink to them with the promise of a shipping reimbursement of $50. I sent my fur coat to them expecting to at least get back shipment costs as they indicated that I would since it passed their initial online assessment. When they received it and looked at it they said it was a 1970 coyote fur coat and not worth anything. Despite looking perfect on the outside, stitching etc they said the hide wasn't in perfect condition. I could either pay 100.00 to have it returned to me or have it to go an animal shelter. Awful company. I'm sad I didn't catch these reviews before sending in a mink fur coat. Their initial email estimate was $200-$600, and then they offered me $0 because of its age, with an insanely long email about fur storage and why the coat was unsuitable for recycling. They refused to send me pictures of the date stamp they said they found on the inside of the coat. They sent me a picture with some random handwritten numbers, which didn't include the whole coat, so who knows where it's from. They also told me "these numbers are not going to mean anything to you we are the ones who understand them so they will mean absolutely nothing to you". I wasted $55 of shipping and my time with these people. I would have been better off bringing the coat to a thrift store. Definitely STAY AWAY! read more

Do not do what I did, and ignore the reviews. This company is a total rip off. They have very unscrupulous business practices. All the way from lying at the beginning to get them your coat to how the coat is disposed of. Example we came to agreement that the coat could not be used and the owner offered to donate to the SPCA to use for injured animals that were rehabilitating. This honestly was no surprise to me and I was fine with that option, but said I needed a receipt, confirming it was in fact donated since the coat I sent her was part of an estate that was currently being probated. They never sent the receipt after repeated emails back-and-forth. My guess is the coat was never donated and she kept the coat for free. read more

SCAM artists, sorry I can't give them ZERO stars! I wish I had read these Yelp reviews before spending all the time and money sending them a coat. They advertise paying up to $50 for shipping, give a very wide 'professional' range of the coats value ($100-400) from pictures they require to get you to send it in, then once it is on its way to the country in the North the kidnapping is complete, they have complete control. The coat is now not worth anything at all (not even their lowest estimate of $100) but if you pay a ransom of $120 more then they will return it to you, otherwise they can use it for forest fire displaced little Bambi's cage while being rehabilitated, right! These scammers use every tool in the book to overwhelm with information but DO NOT trust them, no matter how much you read and think you understand what they will do the rules change to their advantage, DON'T let your coats be kidnapped by these scammers! read more

I sent images of 3 old fur coats, one beaver, one mink, one lynx. I was honest about their condition and age and that they hadn't been stored professionally. Owner said to send them. Two of them had torn linings, but considering that they are to be "recycled" , I didn't think that mattered. The owner email long negative descriptions of their condition. If I could give these people a minus 5 stars, I would. They are not to be trusted. I contacted them about a black mink fur coat, sent pictures as they requested, sent the fur as they requested. They said my shipping fee would be returned. Upon receipt of my coat, it was inspected and I was told it was only worth $80, which included my shipping fee. A day later, I received an email that said, they wouldn't even give me that. They suggested I let them give it to a homeless shelter and no my shipping fee would not be reimbursed. I declined. LOW LIFE DIME STORE CON ARTISTS WHO RUN A BUSINESS LIKE A STREET CORNER HUSTLER PLAYING THREE CARD MONTE!!!! This company scams it's customers with the 'ol bait and switch. I contacted this company after deciding to sell two coats that I had received as gifts and never wore. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the coats. They simply did not suit my style. They were professionally kept in cold storage for a year after being worn once or twice. I sent multiple photos of the coats and receipts from a highly reputable fur storage company. They responded with an email stating they would give me $400 for one coat and $300 for the second coat plus a refund of my shipping costs. I followed their instructions and shipped them USPS. My shipping costs totaled $120. After they received my coats they sent me an extremely rude email insinuating that the coats I sent were different than the ones in the photos and that since these coats did not seem to be the coats in the photos that they would give me $150 for one and $85 for the other. Now mind you these coats are well worth over $600 a piece. I went this route with Cash for Fur Coats because the site made it sound simple and easy and being that I do not have time to run all over town trying to sell them myself I thought this would be the easiest way to do it. I never would have thought that I would be called basically a liar and accused of sending diffrent coats than those in the photos which is absolutely absurd, insulting and criminal on their part. This company misrepresents itself. Their website says they buy used fur coats to recylce and make into teddy bears and pillows. They go on buying events to cities, as well as buy from people on line. Their website states that they gave an price based on their "expert" evaluation of .coats Well, in reality they offer a very low price, and then resell the items (that they can), on their other website usafurcoats.com. I am sure that they may use some of the old fur coats for teddy bears, but certainly not all like they claim. Owners are Andrea & Lauie Chabot. They convince people there coats are worth very little, and that is what they pay them. Then Cash for Fur Coats turns around and resells the coats for their own profit. The really sad part is, the public believes these people are actually creating employment, and they are recyling into teddy bears. I have saved emails from Andrea Chabot, stating the she bought a fur coat from a woman in New York for $100.00, and resold it within days for $1500.00. Cash For Fur Coats is run by some very insensitive, and money grubbing people. They paid $50 to my sister for my grandmothers stole, and when I found out it had been secretly sold, and emailed Cash For Fur Coats, their response was increadibly callous. My husband send a response back pointing out their lack of customer service, and bad karma being sown... their response was "your right about the karma - we actually do have the stole here" and then proceeded to take advantage of the situation by selling the stole back to me for $250 USD!!!!! Canadian company charging US prices... hmmmm.... not very Canadian if you ask me. Nope, they sure didn't learn anything about Karma. They send the furs to china to be processed, they don't even do the work themselves. I understand needing to recoup some of the profit lost(I own my own business, so I understand the semantics), but seeing as they only paid $50 for the stole (sister kept the records) during an event to Edmonton where other furs were brought back, and it only sat for the last few months, there was not much profit that NEEDED to be made to recoup costs. They sold that fur as if they had done something with it, as if they had to pay for the cost of sending it off to be made (to china no less - this is NOT a local business). They are thieves, they are manipulators, and they are unethical in their business practice. I will be looking more closely into the company, and whom they use in china to process the furs to see if they are using an ethical employer - I'll post again once I've researched these facts.
