This like many other charity shops, is full to the brim of clothing, books, childrens toys, CDs and other bric-a-brac. They also have a sign on the window saying "Donate, don't waste." So if you're thinking about having a spring clean and need to shift some unwanted items then I'm sure they'd be more than happy to take them off your hands here.

This is one of the main reasons that I really admire this place; seen as Scotland's population is indeed prone to these sorts of medical problems. In fact, a close friend recently had a family loss due to a sudden and massive heart attack in her sleep and at only 43 years old. Anyway, back to this particular charity shop. It's a decent size and has a good selection of stock. This includes knickknacks, books, magazines, records, tapes and cds as well as clothes, shoes and tons of kiddies toys. I realise, there is still some stigma attached to charity shops and I imagine, this is especially the case when it comes to children's books and toys. Which is a real shame because they do have some really nice and reasonably priced stock in here. Luckily, I don't know anyone with young kids, so this is something I can't take advantage of - but if you do, it's definitely worth a look. Other items to look out for in here have got to be sensible, good quality work clothes and - the odd time - shoes. Not all sparkles and excitement, I know. But I do have a real bug bare about spending loads of well earned cash on work clothes that immediately get shoved into the washing machine after a shift. Of course, it's not all about going buying mad; the other side of the coin if, of course, donating any unwanted items you have hidden under the bed. So pop along.

I was in the other day looking for something specific which they didn't have, but they do have a lovely range of the Happy Jackson stuff (which always catches my eye!) as well as a nice kids range, cards, gifts etc. This store isn't as big as their Giffnock one so if you're looking for a large range, that one might be worth a visit instead.

I saved up during lockdown, waiting eagerly for the stores lights to spark back on. £90 spent on two wonderful big pieces, Mums Wicker Chest and a Queen Anne Stool and then a wee Tenner Bag of bric a brac for personal gifts. Oh I do like a good wee barter. Boys my £100 of savings will go a long way to raising more smiles of others, because C & A helped me achieve more than my preset goals I thought they deserved a wee mention for their 100% welcoming service* Thanks Lads. For the last six years, C & A antiques have had a lovely wee Princess Jasmine ornament dancing in…read moretheir window, and I am on the verge of buying her before she gets left on the shelf forever! It's quite a wee grotto but it's always worth browsing. From time to time they get some desirable crockery sets in and the occassion spot of Americana diner paraphrenalia. I do enjoy their recurring Betty Boop collection, especially the big waitress Betty they had in the window a while back which was half the size of me! You could easily have put your cutlery on her. There's a little spattering of everything in here but it's worth a look if you're in the area and looking for a new print for your living room, or a little piece of history for your mantlepiece. I think Jasmine will soon be joining my collection of oddities, and I might perhaps begin a brass collection. They always seem to house an ecclectic selection of the latter, from boot polishers to an enchanting wee art nouveau carriage which looks like it's a candle holder. I'm almost tempted to buy it but since it has real working wheels I'm scared I'll set my house on fire. Next time you're passing through, stop in for a nosey.

Instead, make a trip out to the Braehead Retail Park and get yourself acquainted with the dedicated Next homeware store out there. Inside, it looks like a furniture store - with rooms set out like a posh version of Ikea. As well as furniture, curtains, linens and towels, they also sell pictures, mirrors and home wear items such as candles and crockery. The whole store is beautifully laid out, and I guarantee you that you will want to buy pretty much everything (if only your bank balance and the boot of your car would stretch to it). They have a really extensive bed linen section - with a great selection of duvet covers and sheets. Plus, because this place is practically an outlet store - some bits and pieces can be picked up really cheaply here. Definitely worth a visit if you're doing up your home or are just a fan of a bit of interior design. This store is also surrounded by a couple of other great homeware stores - so it's worth making a trip out of it.

Anyway I had been in here before and bought some nice birthday cards. It's a long narrow shop so the cards take up just about the whole left hand side wall. I thought this would be the best shop to get a diary as they sell more than just cards. They sell craft produce for card making and knitting etc so hobbies a-go-go. They sell a whole mixture of stuff from children's toys to jewellery so I thought I'd find a diary in amongst their wide variety of choice. I was drawn in by the baby gifts they had as my friend's just had a baby last week but I wasn't too sure about them although they did have some nice things, like your usual baby albums and frames. I was looking for something that little bit different. Well asides from my little distraction I was able to get a 2011 diary for the office. Yay, go me! I might pop in when I have more time to look at what present ideas they have.

There's a wide selection of jewellery, from bangles to sparkly beads and diamante necklaces with shoe charms to make the lady in your life smile. There is a section dedicated to gifts for new mum's, including cute wee silver trinket boxes with "Baby's first curl" etc inscribed on the lid. There's also a variety of quircky gift ideas, from embroidered photo frames to quaint little owl ornaments or bookmarks or car themed photoframes or mugs. There's even a pin cushion in the shape of a cake! The selling point of this shop, however, is its sparkle. Although there's a few gorgeous wee flowery purses to satisfy your indie tastes, it's a diamond studded wonderland. We were very bedazzled! But there's a good range of goodies in here - it reminds me vaguely of a silver studded Papyrus. And the shop keeper is very bubbly. From stylish wrapping paper to Christmas decorations and back again - I was genuinely surprised at the range of things crammed into this tiny shop! If you're after a gift for someone girly, then this is definitely somewhere you should be heading. At the moment they have sparkly mugs, jewelry, home decorations, baubles of every description and really good quality cards. Although it's not as conveniently placed as Papyrus on Byres Road (and about five times smaller!) it has gifts along the same vein - but quite a lot cheaper. Quick warning, as this shop is so stuffed full, I was quite terrified that my clumsy self was going to knock everything over and end up in a huge pile of girly gifts on the floor. I wouldn't recommend a trip if you're weighed down with bags!
